The food is absolutely delicious. Out of this world good. The vegetable egg roll, that we were recommended by the person working the counter, was stuffed thick,fried beautifully, and made "in house"( which is just a fancy way of saying it was made there)! I've loved this restaurant for almost 30 years. When I come to Lafayette, I make it a point to get their chicken and broccoli. I've had Chinese-American food in major metro hubs (Chicago, LA, NYC, Seattle) - and En Lai compares to them (and sometimes exceeds them). En Lai forever!

Listen, I love En Lai but their vegetable soup is terrible. It’s barely cooked vegetables with vegetable broth poured over it. It’s like they took their lightly blanched veggies from their saute prep, and mixed up some dry veggie stock with water and just put them together. And it’s huge pieces of vegetables too, it’s like you have to eat it with a fork. It tastes like broccoli water, and it’s an insult to soup.
