“Came in on a superbowl Sunday and it was quiet ish, the bartender, Ryan was great though, engaging, great service, dealt with my indecisiveness quickly. I had a great time just chilling on a quiet night. Came back Tuesday and it was lively, plenty of friendly locals. Ryan remembered my name and what I was drinking. My hometown dive bars don't serve food, but I felt at home, which is rare.

I'll be back, whenever I'm in town. A+ in my book. If you're on the fence, just come in.“

TV's everywhere, not so loud you can't carry conversation, yet loud enough to hear the plays! very attentive server, even on a Sunday!“

“Pros:
(1) Tasty food -the fries were crunchy and fluffy and flavorful, and the burger was juicy and plump and had a good amount but not too much of sauce
(2) The prices are very fair
(3) The interior is not too loud, though that might would change if there were more people
(4) We asked for the BLT to have extra-crispy bacon, and they did a good job at that
(5) The portion size is just about right

(1) The chairs are in bad shape and ripped with stuffing spilling out in some cases

(1) I went in with low expectations, as I hadn’t heard anyone really ever mention this place, and so many of their chairs were ripped or in bad shape. But I was pleasantly surprised with how good the food was“

I didn’t catch her name, but she was so professional, quick, talented, friendly, and all around one of the best waitresses I’ve ever had the pleasure of experiencing. “This place is an old friend. I run into people, I grew up in here. Same family runs this place still. That is what makes this institution click.
The Burgers still rock and hand cut fries with each order! The pizza I will try out. The beer is Ice cold the place is just! Great hometown atmosphere. Great food. I watched many a royals game here thoughout the years. Even though I don't live in Waldo anymore. I still make the drive to this place no question!“

“I stopped in here after visiting with a friend. I’m so glad I stopped in. To drink, I got the Royal Lemonade—well balanced. For food, I got the mozzarella sticks and ginger burger (I was super hungry, but had to take home some of my burger). To be honest, the burger is not something I would normally order, but it was recommended and I’m glad I went for it. I would definitely eat it again. The atmosphere here is nice. It’s clean and comfortable. The regulars here are nice and the staff is friendly. You never know when you walk into a bar “that’s not yours” how you’ll be treated. I told my partner that if we lived down here that I could see us coming here often. You should give them a try.“

“Date night. Great place to go. Huge selection of drinks and awesome food. I had a salad with salmon that was one of the vest salads i have ever had and my boyfriend had a bourbon burger and said it was "perfect". We had the loaded spud app and shared the pretzel dessert....the best beginning and ending we could want. Our server, Heather, was so sweet and talked us through a lot of our options. She was super attentive. We will definitely be heading back!“

“Went to Hyvee today for a quick breakfast and coffee with my dad, and the manager JUSTIN and waitress KELCIE were fantastic. It was very busy saturday morning and I could tell they were doing their best to make sure all customers were being served in a timely manner. “We attended a private event for approximately 50 guests at Austin's on Lone Elm this weekend. The taco bar was quite tasty, and stocked repeatedly for our group as needed. While the party was fun, it was ever more memorable due to our two servers, Mikaela and Jeremy. These two were so fun, exuberant and hard working professionals. Their constant smiles while keeping up with the drink orders with precision was fantastic! They were go getters from the start and made an already fun day even better. Great employees, good food, thank you Austin's Lone Elm for a great experience!“

“We hosted my husband’s 40th birthday party here. The service was amazing!!! Sydney, our waitress, was so friendly and extremely attentive to our large group. The chef was on top of making sure the food was perfect and refilled as soon as needed. Our guests repeatedly commented on how good the food was. “Andrew and his team in the Market Grill are amazing! We came in on Saturday to feed our football team in between games and they did not disappoint! Food was fresh and tasted great. They let us spread out in the top seating area so our kids and families could sit and eat comfortably while we warmed up from the freezing rain and cold. Highly recommend them and will plan on stopping again the next time we play football nearby!“

“Came here as part of a St Patrick's Day bar crawl. Kind of a neat place, but looks very run-down and dirty. They have arcade games, pool tables and just one single bar. The bar as a whole was packed so the line for a drink was pretty long. The bathrooms were very dirty and had a lot of broken items in them. Made me feel like I needed a shower after stepping inside. It's a cool bar so I do recommend it, but maybe after they've cleaned and not when there are like 150 people in there.“

“It was Friday in early November, just days after Halloween. I came from out of town to a job interview, at Country Club Plaza. I was trying to find a place before going to the Power & Light District later that night & after my interview. I was going to go somewhere else, but they had 30 min wait. So I'm not from here, don't know KC well (unless I have my GPS), and new to the bar scene in the metro area. Suddenly, a place called "The Bar" came to my Google Search. I almost didn't want to come here. I'm thinking to myself "just go, you don't come to KC often"...& I did. The Bar West Plaza was actually better than I thought it was going to be. I also didn't know they had multiple places until I realized that before Thanksgiving. Not to mention, they have karaoke??? YES! I couldn't do karaoke hence going to the P&L District & due to time, I wouldn't have made it back in time...sadly. In the end, I had two bartenders (Katie & Adrianna) who were by far stellar at their job (from start to finish). I was very impressed. A local patron told me to try their wings, you will regret it if you don't. That man wasn't joking. Holy...😇 I give this place 4 out 5 stars. The ONLY reason why I didn't give it 5 out of 5 is because of the lack of parking. The rest is by far awesome.“

“it was not the great experience I thought it would be, but for anyone on. a budget this palace serves enough per plate to feed an army. I am at KUMed, so taste buds are way off but everything seemed so salty. they also had no recall of my soda which I ordered online because it red soda. when my son came back with diet whatever I almost flipped him over. Maybe that's the swelling of the brain???🤔🤔🤔 regardless, my favorite husband has had a black and blue burger several times and he loves them. I get the feeling it's a dine- in kind of place.“

“Love this place! The staff is so so nice and the food is great. Will say, the live music is WAY too loud. Talked to multiple people during the live music and they agreed. It was a great performer but was hard to hear my server and people around. If the sound was turned down just slightly during live performers it would be 10/10!! Otherwise food and staff is amazing“

“This is a great little dive bar. I stopped in yesterday with a friend who needed some cheering up. They had Dunkle on tap which was great. My friend had the Orange Crush cocktail and said it was fantastic. I ordered a salad and a Rueben. The salad was better than any I have had recently- super fresh and their ranch dressing was perfection! The Rueben was excellent as well!“
