“A hidden gem on Garfield Place . We decided to throw out the Hyde park restaurants and try something new . The Mezze Board was fantastic with all of the Mediterranean dips and veggies , The Shrimp Cossoult is to die for . The braised lamb /risotta/feta explodes with every bite. The best of all is that it was our first time dining and and I felt like family with the service from Nimo and Bryce , Coming back next week for the Swordfish . 6 stars !!!!!“

“Anjou is a beautiful cocktail bar in the dainty neighborhood of Walnut Hills. On a warm evening, Anjou props open their windows making the whole place hip and relaxing. I quite enjoyed their light and refreshing ube cocktail. Paid parking can be conveniently on the same street.“

“1215 is one of the best coffee shops I’ve had the pleasure of frequenting, and I make it a habit to go here at least once a week. It’s in the heart of OTR and is super convenient for anyone in that area. I’m on a first name basis with the baristas and ordering food/coffee from them feels less transactional and more human. They sell Deeper Roots coffee which is top notch, and I could drink their house blend for the rest of my life. They have a really solid selection of teas too. The place is not at all pretentious, and has a regular clientele that is relaxed and friendly - and the place is bustling but not too busy. The music they play is at the right volume and is well-curated - Americana, folk, 2000s indie, soft rock, blues. Around 5-6pm the coffee shop vibe slowly turns into a romantic and cozy wine bar with live music on some nights. The flowers on the tables are replaced by candles and the lights are dimmed. While I’m usually busier in the evenings, this tempts me to stay all day. Fantastic place that I cannot recommend enough!“

“I came here for the first time many years ago, and don't remember much except live music. I came back more recently for a private event upstairs that included wine tasting led by the owner. I loved 4 out of the 5 wines I tried, and liked the other. Their sangiovese and sauvignon blanc were the standouts for me. The owner was also happy to show us around the cellar, and gave a good crash course on their wine making and what they pair with. The place has a good atmosphere, it's run by a very personale guy, and you'll likely get to enjoy some live music when you visit. Very solid place that has stood the test of time in OTR!“

“One of my favorite places to eat. I love the food. Wine selection is good. Service is good.
I have two issues with this place.
#1. They charge $10 cork fee per bottle of wine on everyday but Thursday. That’s a crime. They claim that their wine is cheaper than other places so it justifies the cork fee, but that’s simply not true. I can get most of them cheaper at Krogers. I don’t agree with being penalized $10 per bottle to drink it there. Therefore I rarely go there any longer unless it’s a Thursday. They could at least cut it back to one $10 fee per night.
#2. When they have a live band they bring the tip jar around to each table and expect you to tip the band. I know where the tip jar is and I usually tip the band, but I don’t like how they somewhat force you to tip them by bringing it to your table. Especially when I’m trying to eat my food.

“What a CUTE coffee shop 😍😍 The inside is absolutely darling and has plenty of space to sit and enjoy your coffee and breakfast. We opted to sit outside on the patio and enjoy the beautiful weather. Super dog friendly which is always great to see. And lots of breakfast options. We got the quinoa bowl for a gluten free option and it was so good. The sausage in it was very light and everything else was very filling. They also had some fun gluten free muffins and a s'mores bar that was super tasty!! Definitely recommend if you live in the area or are just visiting 👌“

“**Update ** -Justin, the traveling manager , reached out to me following my original review below offering to make up for my first subpar experience .
Being in customer service myself I'm a believer in second chances and I appreciated the sincere gesture and took him up on his offer. I must say that my second experience was far superior to my first in everyway. My dad and I were met with prompt, attentive,and kind service throughout our whole meal. Abby, our waitress for the evening was exceptional and her recommendations were spot on. We ordered the Arancini, Braised Beef Short Rib, White wine and mushroom risotto, Bolognese, Tre Maialini Pizza, Raspberry sorbet, tiramisu, and affogato. All of our food was excellent and the Campo di Fragole drink was delicious. After this experience, I'm adjusting my initial 2 star rating to 5 stars. I absolutely will return and I truly do recommend Forno to others.**

This was my first visit to Forno and it's up in the air as to whether or not I'll return. I believe in being honest yet fair in my reviews so here it goes.

Pros
The ambiance was nice and my dad and I were immediately greeted with a warm smile by the hostess. We made a 6pm reservation for 2 on a Wednesday evening and arrived promptly at that time. There were not many in the main seating area when we arrived and we were seated immediately. Ella, our waitress took awhile to come to our table. The manager noticed came over to offer us water while we waited for her. When she did arrive, she was very pleasant and while she competely forgot to bring a tea I ordered, overall she did a very nice job accommodating our food and other requests and for that we were thankful. The white wine mushroom risotto was the standout dish of the night and was excellent.

Cons
The table that we were seated at was uneven and rocky. Apparently this was a known issue,as the hostess did go to get stabilizing disks for the table. She offered to move us but then never came back(?). I don't know what that was about, but my dad and I just stayed at our table.
It took nearly an hour for our food to arrive. Again my dad and I were there promptly at 6pm and there were very few people inside. We had a concert to attend that evening so we made sure to be there on time. We were seated immediately but our food didn't arrive until 6:53pm. We didn't order much, but my pork chop was dry and bland with little seasoning. The sauce it was served with was very lemon forward. Some may love that but i prefer it to be more balanced.
I wanted to get a dessert, but because it took so long for our main courses to arrive,I didn't have time to order it.

Overall, I wasn't impressed enough to highly recommend this restaurant. Although the risotto was excellent , the slow service and underwhelming preparation of the rest of our meal unfortunately outweighed that.“
