“We started with the lump crab tower and it was fabulous as usual. While it is not inexpensive, for the freshness and quality you get, it is a wonderful starter at a decent value. My wife and both had the grilled romaine salad and ahi tuna entree and they were very good. My son had the scallops with a lobster tail added on and while the seafood was topnotch, the accompanying succotash and rice mixtures was not particularly appealing as plated. It had a fine taste, but half the quantity on the plate would have been sufficient and would have looked better. Our service was outstanding from start to finish.“

“Overall we enjoyed our experience. Food was okay and I'm not so sure the taste equated to the cost. One person in our party got the mahi mahi and it was so dry she could barely get it down. The Mac and cheese we had as a side was very soupy. And the sauce on the chicken parm lacked flavor and tasted like it was out of a can. The atmosphere was good until the live music started. We were seated right in front of the stage, and once the music started we tried to get through our meal so we could leave.“

“We celebrated our anniversary here yesterday with a delicious lunch. Our server, Amanda, was so friendly and helpful! Hubby had the cod and fried oysters and declared the oysters were the best he ever had. My shrimp basket was loaded with huge shrimp and the Cajun fries were very good. We topped that great meal off with complimentary slices of strawberry and chocolate cheesecakes for our anniversary! We will definitely be back!“

“I recently visited Moby Dick, and I was pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable the experience was. The place has a casual, no-frills atmosphere that lets the food take center stage. I ordered the kabob platter with rice and a side of their cucumber yogurt, and everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. The meat was juicy and perfectly seasoned, and the rice was fluffy with just the right amount of saffron flavor. The portions were generous without being overwhelming, and the meal felt hearty but clean.

Service was efficient and friendly, and the staff seemed genuinely invested in making sure everyone had what they needed. The only reason I’m holding back from a full five stars is that the dining area felt a little cramped during peak hours, and it could get a bit noisy. Still, the food more than made up for it. Moby Dick is a great spot when you’re in the mood for something flavorful and satisfying without breaking the bank.“

“We have been enjoying the fish from this Moby Dick location for many years. For the first time today we were somewhat disappointed. Imagine my shock when I unwrapped our Whale of a Sandwiches and discovered the very small fish fillets. Two pieces were no more than 2/3 the size of the bread and very thin. Only one of the 4 fish fillets among the 2 sandwiches covered the bread. All were thinner than expected. The prices have steadily gone up over the years, which I have no problem with. But, for the price paid, the fish should be significantly larger.“

I know how hard restaurant work is, and I’ve always appreciated the care the staff put in. But our most recent experience left us disappointed. The service was unexpectedly inattentive. We ordered a nice bottle of wine, but our server never returned to refill our glasses. A French fry order was forgotten, and when we asked about it, things seemed to unravel. The server was visibly exasperated. A supervisor eventually stepped in, handled things professionally, and assigned a new server—but by then the mood had shifted. This wasn’t just any lunch—it was a farewell meal with a dear friend leaving town, and I’d hoped for a flawless experience. At over $230, I expected more attentive service. I don’t share this lightly. Connors has been a place we’ve enjoyed many times. But this visit left me disappointed, and I won’t be returning anytime soon. There are many excellent Sarasota restaurants where $250 buys not just a good meal, but service that feels genuinely welcoming.“
