After an incredible weekend in New Orleans, I found myself with a few hours to spare before my flight. With luggage in tow and my work computer in hand, I stopped into Tavern on Citrus—and I couldn’t have chosen a better place to spend the day.

What was meant to be a quick stop turned into a six-hour visit (thanks to a delayed flight), and honestly, I was grateful for the extra time. From the moment I walked in, I was met with an unbelievable level of hospitality and warmth. It felt less like I was dining in a restaurant and more like someone had called ahead to say, “Make room—we’ve got a guest who belongs here.”

The food? Absolutely delicious. The service? Impeccable. Every person I interacted with went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. I even had the chance to enjoy some great conversation with the staff while getting a bit of work done.

They kindly let me charge my electronics, and I left feeling full, refreshed, and truly cared for. But the real test of character came when I accidentally left my work laptop behind—something incredibly valuable to both me and my organization. By the time I realized it, I was halfway to the airport. I called in a panic, and not only did they have it safely behind the counter with a note and my name on it (they had pulled my info from my card to make sure it got back to the right person), but the owner personally ran out to hand it off to my Uber driver curbside so I wouldn’t miss my flight.

As someone who has worked in recruiting for the hospitality industry, I’ve always said: you can teach someone the policies, the systems, the menu—but you can’t teach someone how to genuinely care. That’s what true hospitality is, and Tavern on Citrus has it in abundance.

I left not only with a full belly, but with the kind of impression that lasts. I genuinely felt sad to leave, and now this spot is permanently on my must-visit list every time I’m in New Orleans. If you’re looking for amazing food, authentic service, and a reminder of what hospitality really means—this is your place.”

“Tried many pizza places over the years but Papa John's variety of selections beats them all. I especially like their thin crust pizza called "The Works" & people should treat themselves to the delicious cinnamon pull-aparts. Not to mention, I also try to get several Papadias whenever I order from Papa John's. The foods are so flavorful & satisfying. I still find it's a place reasonably priced to fit most people's budgets. Whatever the cost though, the Menu items will be well worth it.”

“Came for the first time last night in a hurry. Got shrimp fried rice, and pork egg rolls. Egg rolls were AWESOME. Fried rice came PACKED full for a small, was super full off $14 tip included. Not sure what others are talking about the condiments, they are always on the counter, free, as many as you want. Every sauce they have and no they do not charge for condiments and they are friendly, professional, and the prices are very good for the amount of food you get. It was delicious and already have plans to go back tomorrow night. Ordered online and it was ready before 10 minutes piping hot.”
