“My friend and I had lunch and shared a non vegetarian assorted appetizer plate to start. The samosas were perfection. Light and crispy with generous fillings. Everything on the plate was delicious, but the samosas were the best! Sherwyn was our waiter and took great care of us. I had the vegetarian delight and my friend had the alu saag. We were beyond pleased with our food/service and left full and happy.Vegetarian options: I had the vegetarian special and it was amazing. It is so much food I had three meals out of it! “Bob Boudreau and I were in NOLA for 9 nights. Three of the nights we had reservations at other places with family. Our 1st night we looked up and found Jewel of the South. We loved it so much. we asked our nephew, his medical school advisor and his wife to join us. All three lived in NOLA and had never been here. All 5 of us would definitely go back in a heart beat. “Nice little sushi place. Pricey for the portions. Portions are very small, the presentation on the sushi was plain. Single sushi orders had a better presentation. The rice bowls had a good portion and presentation. Everything we tried was very good. The spicy sushi we tried was not at all spicy but was good. The salmon belly was really good and I recommend this highly. I was not highly impressed with the whole experience because I left hungry and would not return here for a second trip. The sushi portions are very small.”
