I had trouble identifying the best donut shop in Slidell with just Google reviews, so I stopped by a couple of shops, and I was most impressed by Tasty Cream's yeast doughnuts. The dough was incredibly light and fluffy with the perfect amount of glaze. Having road tripped much of the nation and stopping at the best donut shops en route, I can confidently say this was one of the best glazed donuts I've ever had.The twist was very big and a good supplement to the round and holes I also had in my order. The buttermilk bar was also lighter than most, but still carried the tradition of crispy edges perfectly. The boba was cooked perfectly soft, yet still with a little chew. The flavor and frozen iciness of my strawberry smoothie on a hot day left a little to be desired, however, my family's mango smoothie hit the spot. This was also the first time I had kolache. The smoked sausage was so good, and Tasty Cream's dough was the perfect bun.I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the upbeat and kindness of the staff. I loved my visit to this shop and would repeat any time I'm ever in the area again. If you're a donut lover, this is a must stop shop!“
“Saia's has an excellent old school meat market where you can get steaks cut to order along with homemade sausages and hard to find items like rabbit. I went in a couple of days ago and got the butcher to cut me a 24oz Prime porterhouse for my wife's birthday and the damned thing came out like butter. Pretty good booze selection and the deli does poboys and old fashioned fried chicken including Gizzards! I recommend the place for all of your meat, booze and fried chicken needs.“
“There is absolutely nothing fancy or super innovative about this place, but it is a real staple in our community. The baked goods are nice quality and the service is fantastic. The prices are also very reasonable. I love their shoe soles and their donuts are pretty great too. They're filled. King cakes are especially delicious.“
