“My husband and I visited Levee twice on our recent three-day trip to NOLA, and we would have gone again had we stayed longer! We enjoyed a ham and Swiss croissant, a breakfast sammy, various fruit danish, a morning roll with cinnamon and icing and a jambon et buerre with cornichon. Every…single…item was fantastic: the pastry was beautifully laminated; the fruits were perfect balances of sweet and tart; the meats were flavorful; the cinnamon was present but not overwhelming; and that baguette sandwich was possibly one of the best things either of us had ever eaten from a bakery. To top it off, the lovely person who was taking orders and working the POS system was just as polite and pleasant as one could ever expect. (Embarrassingly, I cannot remember their name.) “Bittersweet Confections made our wedding cake, and choosing Cheryl was one of the best decisions we made. She is 100% worth the investment. We specifically prioritized in our budget to have her create our cake because her flavor combinations and icing are truly unmatched — and it paid off in every way.

We opted for one stunning cake rather than multiple desserts. Our four‑tier, bright white Lambeth-style cake with cherries was absolutely breathtaking. Inside, we alternated between almond and lemon cakes, all with her incredible vanilla buttercream icing. It was not only beautiful — it was delicious.

We had so many guests, including self-proclaimed “not cake people,” tell us how much they loved it. Even now, people still bring up how amazing the cake was. It truly became one of the stars of the night.

Beyond our wedding, I also love stopping by Bittersweet for a quick lunch or sweet treat. It’s a wonderful business run by even more wonderful people.

“Excellent baked goods at this friendly and popular corner shop. The pecan croissant was flaky, sweet, and crunchy. The polenta cookie had a lovely grainy texture. I love their attention to detail on their recipes and the staff recommendations they've posted in their case.
They have several tables inside, outside along the street, and in a shaded patio.
There is free parking on surrounding streets.“

“Grow up with randazzo's baked goods. Happened to be in St Bernard parish and could not resist stopping by to get my fix on my way back out of town.

They have a chewy macaroon type cookie both in chocolate and anise flavor which is my all-time favorite. Of course I also had to get some of their cake chocolate iced donuts as well. Nona randazzo's bakery goods are not cheap by any means, but that's true for all private bakeries. Nona randazzo's goods are as good or better than any other bakery in the New Orleans area.“

“I brought a king cake to a group and it was the best king cake I ever ate and I am 70 and from New Orleans, I've read one star reviews obviously from the same person mainly complaining about shipping. It's Mardi Gras, shipping is slammed. Or I saw a staff member keeping another worker in line. Or I never had king cake so was expecting a regular cake. Their product is AWESOME!
