“We recently came for dinner, excited to try a new spot close to home. Unfortunately, our experience fell short in several areas, though we truly believe this place has potential if some key improvements are made. First, the service was lacking—wait times was a little excessive (there were 3 tables it shouldn’t take 15 minutes to get drinks), our table wasn’t given silverware or plates for our appetizer until we asked, condiments weren’t stocked, and refills were nonexistent. Went to grab my own ketchup since I didn’t get my sauces I ordered and couldn’t get a hold of a server… every bottle was empty. There was no check in until after the whole table had already boxed their food themselves. For the price point of the menu, we expected better service from the staff and a more consistent execution from the kitchen. A bit more attentiveness from the staff would go a long way in enhancing the overall dining experience. As for the food, there were some hits and misses. The Creole Bleu fries were great, creating high expectations for the entrees to come. My seafood platter was decent—the fish and shrimp were cooked well—but the hush puppies were cold, onion rings were overly greasy and difficult to eat. My dad’s steak was ordered medium-rare but arrived cold and blue-rare, which was disappointing. Additionally, the pasta dishes at our table were overly watery, which took away from the flavors we were expecting. We truly want to see this restaurant succeed because it’s in a great location and has promise. With some attention to detail in service and consistency in food preparation, this could become a go-to spot for locals. We hope to give it another try in the future and see improvements!”

“Went here for lunch and met a friend from out of state. Had not been there for years. Still has a friendly staff who treat you like family. Superb food at a fair price. These folks have been giving great service for 75 years. This establishment is off the beaten path but a gem 💎 to eat at. Daily specials of hot lunch are worth the trip.”

“On our first visit in Marrero, Jasmine was our waitress. My husband has to have limitations with his food choices. No problem, Jasmine helped with suggestions and the cook prepared it perfectly. Now on my 2nd visit, Jasmine not only remembered me but asked where was my husband. She not only remembered us but what we ate. As I dined alone, she went out of her way to make me feel comfortable! And then as I placed a take-out order for my husband, she had suggestions due to his salt restrictions in his diet. What a memory! In my life, I have NEVER met anyone with such a remarkable memory - and she is so kind and helpful. We will be regulars now. Jasmine - here we come. Thank you for helping us so much!!! “Bought two sacks for Easter Sunday. First the sacks were over 40 lbs each which not something you find with other places. Next the size of these mini lobsters were huge. Lastly they were the cleanest I have ever gotten or seen. Will be doing business with Johnny’s again.”

“My granddaughter bought me there one Sunday night,it was packed so there was know where for me to sit and I am handicap so we got some food and we left but this lady can’t out and ask was we looking for somewhere to sit I said yes,she told us to wait she made a call and then we were seated,we had wonderful time and the food was delicious. “This place has been around for a few years but I went back last night for a girls night and let me tell you they were amazing . I noticed that they changed the way they plated the food and added a few touches like grilled pineapple & an edible flower . I don’t remember the guys name who served us but it was his first day and he was perfect ! He got all of our orders correct , made all 12 of us our special alcoholic beverages in a timely manner . He was very sweet & friendly . The vibe was perfect ! 10/10 🥰”

“My wife and I have been eating here for 25 plus years. Always loved this place. However, they are now charging for refills ($2.00). In addition, I asked for a glass of water. They are now charging $2.49 for a glass of water. Refills are $2.00. They have increased the prices on the menu also. I can understand the increase in food prices but the beverage issue is over the top. Unfortunately, we won’t be eating there anytime soon.”

“Really enjoyed my experience here. Tried the crème brûlée and red velvet macaroons and the dream house lavender tea with almond milk! Everything was delicious. The cafe was cozy and had lots of beautiful plants all around, which I loved. I was able to sit in a comfy chair, read my book, and enjoy my little treats loved it.

I love the sesame chicken and their shrimp and broccoli and don’t forget to add a shrimp egg roll. If someone has had a bad expirience I can almost promise you it’s the exception. Love this place !!”
