If you’re a seafood lover, this spot is an absolute must-visit! It’s about 10 minutes from the city. From the moment pulling up , you can smell the seasoning from the seafood. It’s edible for everyone when it comes to spices . If you like it really spicy ask for some spicy sauce.

The shrimp boil was packed with juicy shrimp, corn, and potatoes, all cooked to perfection and I added in that mouthwatering buttery garlic sauce with some spicy sauce!! 10 out of 10. My absolute favorite, though, was the crawfish though —JUICY , SEASONED , and so fresh it practically melt in my mouth. I brag to EVERYONE about the CRAWFISH.

The service was top-notch, too. Wally at the front counter was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, even offering great recommendations for pairings.

What really impressed me was the balance between quality and value. The portions were generous, the flavors were bold, and every bite felt like a treat.

Great prices as well, we had 3 people in total, I recommend the bayou boil and a combination of a smaller plate which had more crab, corn and potatoes with the viet garlic and cajun seasoning. Nice man as well with the braids! (I believe his name was Boss, sorry I can’t remember his name) Emptied our seafood bags as well! Food had great seasoning and the crab was easy to pull. “I used Nola Crawfish King for an outdoor party we just held in June. I worked with Sophia in catering, and she could not have been more helpful. She quickly responded to all of my many emails. I wanted a crawfish/shrimp boil, and she helped with deciding what the ratio should be considering it was late in the season for crawfish. The guys who did the boil did a great job, set up all the tables and chairs, and everybody loved the seafood. Don't hesitate to use this company. You won't regret it.“

“Hooks is tasty because it's always prepared fresh and the cook is never afraid to season the food. The gentleman in front at the register is very accommodating and he understands the menu well. “I started to call this place a "best kept secret", but I'm not sure how much of a secret it can be with 2 or 3 customers inside this small store seemingly at ALL TIMES. An employee at nearby OPSB told me their gumbo was great - I went once and now I go back almost every time I'm on the west bank. it's an unassuming small shop that sells eveything from seafood (whole crab, crawfish, fish plates, etc) to random cash register fodder. Dont be distracted though- get the gumbo.“

I stopped by The Real Pie Man for lunch and had a really solid experience. I ordered the smothered okra and fried catfish, along with a medium-sized seafood gumbo. Everything was freshly made and overall pretty tasty.

The smothered okra and catfish were of good quality—maybe a little more seasoning would have suited my taste, but that's just a personal preference. The seafood gumbo was also quite good and had a nice flavor, though again, a bit more seasoning would have made it perfect for me.

We did a to-go order, and by the time my husband arrived to pick it up, it was ready right on time—no waiting needed, which was super convenient for our busy workday.

Overall, I'd say it was a pretty good lunch spot and worth a visit!“
