“Early morning breakfast before my wife and kids woke up. I was impressed they were open so early, but didn't expect much at five in the morning. I couldn't have been more wrong. Walked in to a well lit dining area and was told I could sit where I wanted. Perfect because I hate being sat too close to other diners. Not that there were many there, two large groups of local men enjoying coffee and the latest gossip. Nice atmosphere, I could see myself being one of those guys when I hit the twilight years. A waitress approached with a menu and water in hand, asking what did like to drink after a cheerful "good morning!" A young blonde with a pleasant persona and a welcoming vibe about her. I ordered coffee and she said she'd be back in a few minutes. When she made her way back to my table I was ready to order but I had trouble pronouncing "atchafalya". She caught on to that (or my accent tipped her off ) and she asked "You're not from around here, are ya?" I chuckled a little and she went to give my ticket to the cooks. Wasn't long before my food was sitting right in front of me and damn did it smell and look amazing. Two of the uniquely Cajun Benedicts with a large chunk of alligator sausage on each side. I dug in. Thick fluffy biscuits sat atop crispy and perfectly tart fried green tomatoes which in turn were adorned with two perfectly poached eggs smothered in a homemade creole sauce filled the plate. I didn't know what to expect other than the unexpected. My gut instinct proved to be right as I took my first bite of this swamp born delicacy. Finished it quicker than it took to get to me. And the sausage? Cooked to perfection with an expertly browned outside and a hot, juicy, tender center. The best breakfast I had while visiting the Bayou State. Would definitely revisit if I'm ever in the area; might even drive out of my way to do so.“
“Love this local spot!! It’s our go to for great barbecue. Personally, their corn pudding is my absolute favorite, and my kids love the mac & cheese and curly fries. I always get the pulled pork sandwich – consistently great. My son loves their ribs, says there is a ton of meat on them. Friendly service - leaving happy. :)“
“Tried Smoke Bayou for the first time today. I ordered to go the 5 meat with Mac & cheese. This is the BEST bbq that we have ever eaten. The ribs and chicken fell off the bone. The brisket, pork and sausage were so flavorful and tender. I would give it 10 stars ⭐️ if I could!“
“Absolutely incredible food, incredible experience, incredible drinks, and incredible service! Truly the BEST BBQ I've ever had! And our server, Sophie, was absolutely amazing! Outstanding experience all around, and I can't wait to come back!“
“Best bbq I have had in a long time. Food was at the table before we knew it and it was amazing! Our service was promptly given and we literally got what we wanted before we asked for it. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming/relaxing. I definitely will go back and I have already told most of my buddies how dang good everything was. Last but not least the price point was very agreeable to me . We had a wonderful time affordable. I recommend this place highly.“
“Went on a Sunday night at 6pm and there was no wait! Food was good but the service wasn’t too good. Our waitress disappeared for a long time while we were waiting for the check. Aside from that, it was a very positive experience. Ordered the Cuban sandwich along with a Bacon Old Fashion. Kids meal is good as well.“
“As a first-timer @ TRH, I was impressed with the atmosphere, service, and food. The entire staff—especially Tre, our Roadie—are exceptional. It was a late celebration for my birthday (8/16/64) with my wife and we both enjoyed our meal. TRH has now become my “go to” for a great steak dinner!“
“Big Jakes is awesome! I love love the ribs and potato salad. If you want excellent bar-b-que without paying an arm and a leg, try Big Jakes. There is a reason they’ve won multiple awards…it’s the food (and the service is great too). Can’t wait to go back! The only downside is if you are trying to lose weight…be warned…the portions are huge!“
“My wife told me about old school BBQ and took me there for lunch. My wife had the chicken and I had the ribs. All the food tasted amazing. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone and absolutely delicious! If you're looking for an awesome place to eat, go to Old School BBQ!!!“
“Some of my fellow service members and I dined here for lunch. The service was excellent and the staff was friendly. Ordering was smooth, and our food was delivered timely. They even provided a military discount. Overall, the food was flavorful, hot, and fresh. I had the triple smoked platyer. Sausage, ribs, and pulled pork. The sausage and pulled pork were excellent. The ribs were good but a bit on the fatty side. All in all, the food and service made it well worth the visit.“
“I haven’t had a baked potato in a very long time but my mom stopped by and surprised me with this for dinner. She ordered the Traditional Tuber and we added steak on the side and it was perfect. It’s not all that over top when it comes to flavor but it’s just right. You can’t beat a big loaded potato like this for $7. The people complaining about the price, got more than the basic potato. You get more, you buy more, it’s simple!“
“Well a friend of mine from NOLA recommended this place. He said it was a bit out of my way on the drive back from Baton Rouge back to NOLA, which it was.....I literally drove by this place as I was looking for a large sign/ restaurant parking lot etc....No it's a small building with a drive thru and maybe a walk up window for service. I noticed some picnic tables in front as I drove off. With that said....the food didn't disappoint. We had the ribs, brisket, burnt ends, and chicken wings.Look this understated joint is worth the ride if you are not from the area. Don't sleep on the smoked fried chicken wings, and burnt ends. The sides all have some added spice to them and there's pork tasso in the potato salad....different but I was all in. Actually the pickled onions and pickles had an added flavor as well.“
