“I’m moving far away from this city and will probably never return, but yet I feel inclined to leave a review of this place because it’s THAT good. This will be the one place I will always miss, as it is the best food I had in Lafayette or anywhere else I ate at in my 2 years of living in LA (beats any Cajun, hamburgers Mexican, Italian, etc that I had here).

The menu is not extensive, but the food was served quickly - especially given how busy they were on a Friday night - and the entres were steaming hot.\nSpeaking of hot…I don’t have the best tolerance for spicy, and one taste of their salsa was all I could handle! It. Was. SPICY. At least to my taste buds.\nPrices were average. No alcohol at all is served, but you can BYOB.\nAn added bonus - there was a roadrunner hanging out near a cactus in the parking area. It kept running back and forth in front of the seating area. That was fun!“

The ONLY issue is that sometimes the sodas seem as if they've gone bad (little specks of something floating in them). “I've been following El Hidalguense Mexican Restaurant for a while now. And decided today I wasn't going to Lafayette again without trying it. I had the Enchilada Mixta con Cecina and my wife had the Birria Tacos. Amazing food! I have a hard time describing how delicious our meals were. But, we're definitely going back! The owner was so friendly, checking on us making sure we were enjoying our food. Our server was very helpful picking out our food since it was our first visit. This is definitely a hidden gem with authentic, fresh Mexican food.“

Although there was about a five-minute wait to reach the counter, I know this is common in a fast-casual setting, and Kashawn made up for it with prompt service once I ordered. “I always love going to Chuy's, as it is one of the few places in town where there is more than one option on the menu. I have had the bean burrito, veggie enchiladas, and fajitas, and they have all been great. Their guacamole is excellent as well. Just keep in mind: i was told by one of the servers that the regular Mexican rice is not vegan due to being made eith chicken bouillon. I usually get the green chili rice, which is vegan and still delicious“

I have only ever gone during the busier dinner rushes, and they are absolute champions of service at those times, but it was so nice to enjoy during the quieter time as well (by no means was the place empty). “Located next to a washateria and a sketchy gas station so you might come across some wild boys while ordering but this is my favorite taco truck in Lafayette. Never knew I needed tripe tacos in my life until I ate these. Amazing. Also, the birria tacos are incredible.“

“I have a very busy 4 year old adhd/autistic daughter And had been travelling for hours.
I was the only one in the restaurant and because my daughter is very busy doesn't communicate well. I don't bring her in a lot of places But because it was empty I thought It would be ok..
Everyone Was nice and I let the front desk Workers know that she doesn't sit still very much. And then I would put her in the corner where she wouldn't bother anyone...
Someone They're with the ability to Control the noise (radio) I can only assume had some kind of knowledge of children that are not "normal"..
Someone turned the radio down and My daughter seemed to settle a bit more..
