“YUM - AAAYY - ZING!!
Words are insufficient to describe my excitement for Mario’s!!!
I’ll start with THIN CRUST - Classic Neapolitan pizza, ITALIAN style. Then FRESH FRESH FRESH ingredients make all the difference. I look forward to it, whenever I can make it, usually for lunch on Friday, the only week day they’re open at 12:00 noon. Awesome vibe that’s 100% local local local. Small place, mostly take out, but you can seat 3-4 people at the window counter, which I love. Old school marble counter, with comfy padded bar stools. You have to know it’s here as the location is a tad off the beaten path of prime visibility. Which ‘proves’ one of my philosophies ‘ great location, often mehh food, not so great location - the food must be amazing. So many amazing points …. One of which is the ACTUAL MARIO! Punctuating the super local CHEF OWNED cafe. He’s here all the time, super nice guy, a joy to chat with … and he truly loves making incredible pizza!!“

“Dirty Water Dough Company delivers the kind of Boston food experience that feels both local and unforgettable, blending bold flavors, a laid‑back vibe, and a clear pride in craft. It’s the kind of spot where you walk in expecting a good slice and walk out talking about how surprisingly great everything was.
🍕 Atmosphere and first impression
The moment you step inside, the energy feels warm and unpretentious—exactly what you want from a neighborhood pizza spot. The space has that classic Boston edge: casual, lively, and full of people who clearly know they’ve found a gem. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or settling in with friends, the environment feels welcoming without trying too hard.
🔥 Food that stands out
Dirty Water Dough is all about flavor, and it shows in every bite. Their dough has a signature chew and crispness that sets it apart—light enough to enjoy slice after slice, but sturdy enough to hold generous toppings. A few standout qualities make the food memorable:
- Creative specialty pizzas that balance bold ingredients without overwhelming the palate.
- Fresh, high‑quality toppings that taste thoughtfully chosen rather than thrown together.
- Perfectly baked crusts with that ideal mix of char, crunch, and softness.
- Generous portions that feel worth every penny.
Even the simpler pies—like a classic cheese or pepperoni—hit harder than expected because the base ingredients are just that good. And if you venture into their more adventurous combinations, you’ll find flavors that feel inventive without being gimmicky.
🍺 Drinks and extras
Pairing a slice with a cold drink is easy here. The beverage selection complements the food well, and the sides—like wings, salads, or garlic knots—round out the meal without overshadowing the star of the show. Everything feels consistent, fresh, and made with care.
⭐ Overall experience
Dirty Water Dough Company is one of those Boston spots that earns its reputation through quality and personality. It’s casual enough for a quick lunch, flavorful enough for a night out, and reliable enough to become a go‑to favorite. The combination of great dough, creative toppings, and a comfortable vibe makes it a standout in a city full of pizza options.
If you’re looking for a place that captures Boston’s food spirit—unpretentious, bold, and delicious—Dirty Water Dough Company delivers every time.“

“Had an awesome meal here! We ordered the Polpette Sandwich, Salsiccia Pizza, and the Bianco, and honestly, they were all amazing. The Bianco pizza stole the show—it was perfectly cooked, cheesy, and bursting with flavor. The staff is super friendly, making the whole experience feel warm and inviting. The vibe of the place is casual and fun, perfect for a relaxed dinner with friends or family. Everything felt fresh, tasty, and just done right. I can’t recommend it enough if you love good pizza, friendly service, and a chill spot to hang out. We’ll definitely be back soon to try even more from the menu!“

“Our waitress was very good and didn't need to write anything down yet still got everything correct for a party of 10. That alone was impressive.
I'm not a fan of their pizza but their bbq meat is absolutely worth it. I forgot how good it is.
The lamb and sausage were both great and the portions were better than expected.
It's simple and rustic but it hits the spot.“

“This has been a staple on Dudley St for some time with fantastic dinner plates, generous portions, & doesn’t give bland like other places I’ve been to. They have a variety of options to choose from and you sure won’t be disappointed. My favorite are the calzones. They even at one point sold pastelitos or as many know Spanish beef/chicken patties. Very tasty. My family will never go elsewhere.“

“Great oven--fired pizza! Delicious thin crust.
The veggie Pizza had very fresh veggies with a good amount of fresh arugula scattered on top. Roasted garlic too! A sausage and mushroom pizza was also very good and filling. Wish there were some type of Dixie plates to put our individual slices“

“Food was great we has a chicken parm panini and margarita pizza both excellent, fresh sweet sauce, niche and craft beers only was a negative. Very loud but fun atmosphere, my wife was unhappy with the his/ hers bathroom with no exterior door to lock for privacy. I would 100% eat there again but maybe as take out.“

“Cafe Amaro is a true North End gem. While the space is small, it only adds to the quaint, cozy charm of the restaurant. The food was terrific—thoughtfully prepared, full of flavor, and clearly made with care. We enjoyed a lovely bottle of wine that paired perfectly with our meal and made the experience feel special. Our server was excellent and very attentive without being intrusive, which made the evening even more enjoyable. Best of all, my 20- and 22-year-old children absolutely loved it, which says a lot. A wonderful spot that captures the intimate, authentic feel of the North End—I would happily return.“

“I ordered a pepperoni pie from Gary’s via Uber Eats, fully expecting the usual delivery drop-off in quality.
Didn’t happen.
This thing showed up hot, the cheese still perfectly melted, and the pepperoni cups crisped up with those little pools of grease that you actually want. The crust held its structure, not floppy, not cardboard. Even after the ride over, it still had that out of the oven feel.
The sauce had a nice balance, slightly sweet but not sugary, and the cheese pull was legit. You can tell this isn’t just late-night drunk pizza. It’s good pizza.
If it tastes this good through delivery, I can only imagine how it hits straight from the counter.“

“I am thoroughly impressed with this establishment. They are located on a very tight block with literally zero parking. That being said i think that is partly why they excel in literally every single category: food quality, Customer service, freshness. I made a very detailed ordered and this sub shop made it to the LETTER. even the drink cooler is the coldest I have ever experienced. Im not sure if this is new management or has always been this detailed but I am impressed and this is the best sub shop in the city! Amazing business you have.“

“I went here a few times when I was at berklee over the summer and it was always pretty good but one night I showed up and I ordered a bunch of square pizza cuz they had a card minimum and a slice was slightly under 5 bucks and I already had a drink so I was like ok lets get 2 pieces and it was seriously the best pizza I ever ate, I had eaten dinner like an hour or so before so I was like not hungry at all but i finished both of em cuz they were that good it was that good I went back but they did not have the pizza again so I got something else and it was also pretty good and so I was like yeah this joint is something else! I was a little irritated I couldn't get the same pizza I got that night but I guess it was just kind of a blessing or something hopefully if slash when I end up in Boston next they'll have something for me cheers guys porter out“

“Went to Pat’s last week for the 1st time and the hospitality was off of the charts! The owner Pat took a few minutes out of his time to come and talk with me and have great conversation. I ordered a large cheese pizza which was awesome! Huge slices! The fresh ingredients and the fresh crust were fantastic. I reviewed the pizza and it was an 8.4 which is a high score! Will definitely be back! -Arnold 🔥🍕🎉“

“Great quality, reasonable prices. I love popping in here after work for an empanada and a slice of cheese, for $4.50!!! They regularly have a pork shoulder roasted (pernil). Slice of cheese is thick and made with quality cheese and dough, unlike all the other cheap places that do ultra thin crust.“

“Stopped by Overtime Pizza outside TD Garden after the Celtics game and it absolutely hit the spot. Perfect post-game slice — hot, fresh, and packed with flavor. The energy from the win carried right into that first bite. If you’re heading out of a game and need a quick, satisfying bite, this place is a must. Definitely making it a tradition after future Celtics games.“

“My family’s favorite pizza! The people there are also always friendly and helpful. My 17 year old said the chicken bacon ranch pizza is the best they have ever had. I love the cheese so much - I know I should also branch out but it really is so good. Also, the salad and their ranch dressing is so good, fresh, and I loved that it had lots of carrot and cucumber slices, and green pepper. Yum!“

“Been trying as many pizza spots as I can in JP before I move. Stopped in for a quick lunch special.
I got the 2 slice and a can special while my wife got a slice as well. It came out to about $13 which is a bit expensive compared to other pizza spots around the area.
However, when the slices were served it made more sense. They were in fact, large slices. The crust was thin, struggling to handle the amount of cheese on the slices, but I was ready to tackle that challenge.
In the end it was good, not top tier in JP, but the size of the slices and the amount of space there is inside the restaurant in case you want to sit and enjoy whatever meal you order made me enjoy the experience more.“

“It matches the hype. The Sicilian Pizza is…perfect. There’s not enough superlatives to do it justice and if there were, even then it wouldn’t reach hyperbole. Craziest thing of it all is the pricing. Four slices, arancini, and a drink for $16.00? How? In today’s economy how are they keeping the price this low? Also amazing. Just go. Don’t think about it, don’t pass go, don’t collect $200…go get your dang perfect slice.“
