“The atmosphere is very playful, low lit and cozy. I could see myself coming here to work, grab a snack or hang out with friends. They have a few games like jenga and uno and a selection of food. I got 3 different types of the onigiri (Kani, Shrimp tempura, and baked salmon) and they were all fresh and delicious. I started with shrimp tempura and it was so good I went back for the other two. That alone will keep me coming back. The oreo milk was nice, but the onigiri were the stars. I would definitely recommend coming to try the food.“

“I had been on the road all day and stopped in for a coffee. I was kind of torn between the Ube latte and the tiramisu latte, so I asked the server what her preference was. She remarked that the Ube latte seemed to be more popular, but that she, herself, really liked the tiramisu latte. I went with her suggestion with brown sugar boba and out was one of the best I've ever had! Tasted just like a bite of tiramisu! Soooo goood!!! They have a good selection of different milk and fruit teas, as well as a variety of coffees and small pastries. The shop is very cozy and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful! Tea by the Sea has some incredible Matcha. Cool, refreshing, and just hits the spot. The store itself is nestled within a community center but has all around amazing views of Downtown Boston. Overall, recommend a visit if you’re in East Boston and craving some quality tea.“

“My 2 girlfriends and I came to Esmai's Cafe for a girls' catchup on a Tuesday night at 6PM. Reservations were easy to make online. Meter parking was plentiful nearby. We were seated right away.

I remember this place as Hops n' Scotch and honestly, I think they really improved the space! The ambience was nicer, more posh, and the decor was super cute.

The service was quick, helpful, and very nice. We were checked in with often and made sure we were happy with the food. The menu of drinks and food were really interesting!

We got the:
- Spill the Tea mocktail - the rose tea was very subtle but tasty and aromatic, it was really pleasant and came in a pretty glass
- Hot Egg Coffee - VERY sweet (which I LOVE) it might be too sweet for some... but personally I LOVED the first sip which was sugar overload heaven XD
- Cold Egg Coffee (yes we got both!) - tasted great, almost like a bubble tea without the boba, the Vietnamese coffee is strong and sweet, which I like
- Banh Mi + Bone Marrow - a must get! this Vietnamese charcuterie board was very creative and DELISH!!! I loved the pate with the bone marrow on top of the toast - the bone marrow was melt in my mouth deliciousness, and then I made a separate toast with the pate, cold cuts and pickled veggies. this app was a winner for me
- Mini Beef Wellington - this was SO GOOD!!! Since there were 3 of us, we each got 1 mini beef wellington and the meat inside was so surprisingly tender!! And then the outside pastry was nice and flaky, and I kept wanting more and more of the sauce - this honestly was my favorite dish of the night
- Escargot - this was good and some of the pieces were nice and plump but I did prefer the other two apps above
- Grilled Octopus - I thought the octopus was very tasty and moist, the poached Asian pear salad was a nice addition
- Lemongrass Chicken Salad - the salad is pretty standard, but actually the lemongrass chicken was very juicy and flavorful
- Smoked Fried Rice - this was my friend's favorite dish, she really liked the smokiness of it, and I thought the fried shrimp egg roll was so creative
- Loco Moco - this was SO TASTY!!!! every component of this dish was good and balanced everything else, from the Japanese hamburger and its mushroom gravy sauce over the rice, the yolk oozing out of the fried egg on top, then cutting a piece of the spam on the side and then the macaroni salad and carrots and finishing with some fruit - this was my favorite entree and my 2nd fave dish after the Mini Beef Wellington
- Creme Brulee - this was so yummy and not too sweet, the right creaminess and so easy to eat, we finished it easily
- Matcha Lava Cake - SUPER DECADENT and again, I have a MAJOR sweet tooth, so I LOOOOOOVED this lava cake! It was oozing and the sauce with the cake and a bit of strawberry were PERFECT... and then you discover the matcha and it's a nice surprise! I was in chocolate heaven ^__^

Portions were really perfect for our party of 3 but we got waaayyyyyyy too much and we were STUFFED. We had to box the rest of the fried rice and loco moco. I recommend finishing the bone marrow right away though since when it cools down, it'll gel up.

Even if you're full, I'd say make room for dessert. If you're a dessert fan, both the matcha lava cake and creme brulee were worth it! But if you only had to choose one and you DO have a sweet tooth, I'd recommend getting the lava cake :)

All in all, a VERY successful and delicious night out with my friends. We were never rushed and it wasn't very crowded (albeit it was a Tuesday night), so we were able to chat for a while and really enjoy our food and drinks.

I would definitely come back and bring more friends, try out their creative cocktails next time, or maybe even come for a date night ;)

“This spot is very cute and smells amazing. I love the squirrel! We ordered brown sugar boba and the seasonal white peach oolong tea with white boba. I was a little hesitant because I've had wipe over before that was not very good but this white boba was delicious. It was just a perfect texture and amount of chewiness. They called it Honey White boba so it was sweetened. My drink had fresh peach in it and I absolutely love oolong tea so I love any tea shop that does oolong tea. They also have food here but I didn't try it. This is probably one of my top five favorites!“

“Amazing place! As soon as you step inside, the smell of tea brewing washes over you. I can’t describe how good it smells! I ordered a brown sugar fresh milk tea and my aunt ordered a hot honey rose tea. We both loved our drinks! I also ordered a Nutella cronut, which was warm and freshly made. “I’ve been coming to this place numerous times by now, it actually became my weekly go to. The Thai tea is so good, I’m a huge fan of Thai tea, and yet I can tell you that they don’t make their Thai tea with powder, they BREWED the tea. You can’t believe how many stores put their use powder to make Thai tea. Customer service are always on point, never disappointed, they will bring your order to you if they are not that busy. And if you haven’t tried the Taiwan sausage, you missed out on one of the best things in this world. Give that a shot if you haven’t! Good Job Cha Kung Fong!“

“This was my first time at a bubble tea place in probably 10 years. There are a LOT more options now and the employee was so kind and patient, answering all of my questions and explaining the options. She even recommended using the computerized ordering system if I wanted to see photos. The Shared Tea lets you customize everything down to how much ice you want and how sweet you want your drink (great accommodation for those on special diets.) My lychee tea came with chunks of crushed lychee in it and was really delicious.

Dietary restrictions: The Shared Tea lets you customize how sweet you want your drink, from 0% to 125% sweetness. This is a great option for those on reduced sugar diets!“

I recommend using the two touch screen stations to order, as the help is typically already busy making their specialty drinks from prior orders - including from a big 3rd party delivery business. “This hidden gem is located on the Boston University campus more close to the gas station, a Target and a new restaurant called Ziggy’s. They do sell boba but I want to take a moment to show appreciation to their macarons. My personal favorite is the fruity cereal. As you can see, look how pretty it looks and taking a bite it is sweet, satisfying and it just makes you happy. I know for me it made me happy. I believe they do buy it from a third party but it is delicious and worth it. If you look at my first picture they do display their pricing and to be upfront it does show “Buy 5 and get one free” however they do not ring it up like that and ring it up as you bought a total of six macarons. So for me, I could argue if I wanted to but I learned for myself that I’m willing to pay all six and the rest of their flavors (vanilla, birthday cake (both a pink & blue)) are tasty and satisfying. I have tried the dark chocolate macaron and it was okay. If you are one of those people that enjoys dark chocolate but want a subtle sweetness then that one is for you. I have tried their Italian soda (the lemon one to be exact) and it was delicious as well. If you want a “healthy option” they do offer Italian soda and their flavors. On the last picture you can see their drinks, pricing and boba options. My daughter and I enjoy this boba shop and it is welcoming and warm atmosphere. I just wished this establishment was more closer to home but I’m willing to travel.“

“I often visit this Gong Cha because it's run by Vietnamese staff, and honestly, I feel like the drinks here are made better than at other Gong Cha locations. The flavors are well-balanced, not too sweet, and always consistent. It’s become my go-to for milk tea!“

“Best fried chicken and boba in town“

“I got the passion fruit orange oolong tea with boba. I love oolong tea so I've been searching out boba tea shops that have fruit flavored oolong specifically. It's less than you think. This tea was pretty good! It's not as good as my favorite place (chicha) but it's $2 cheaper for a bigger cup. I think the biggest thing that I love about chicha is the tea flavor is so heavy, maybe because they are fresh brewing every cup. You can really really taste the tea. At this Teazzi it's good but the tea flavor was not as strong. And it's just like most boba shops where it is pre-brewed in giant containers. It was a good amount of sweetness though and the passion fruit flavor was good although it wasn't fresh passion fruit or puree that I could tell.

The bobas were actually delicious, they were really sweet and generally cooked well. However every 10th or 20th one was really hard. I might be in the minority but I like it, it's like extra extra extra extra al dente. But I could see the average person not enjoying that. So they're boba stock is not super consistent.

All in all though it is one of the better ones I've had.“

“Super Emoji is a Boba shop located in the heart of Newbury Street, located in a little area that is populated by other boba shops. Super Emoji stands out from the rest by selling meals and other snacks, such as Xiao Long Bao, Shaved Ice, and other desserts.

The service is fast and quick, though it did take some time to make the shaved ice. There is a kiosk for self ordering, but the one we picked was out of order with no indication that it wasn't working. The atmosphere is alright, it was a hot day but it wasn't too warm inside.

We got the grapefruit slush, lemon iced tea, and a chocolate shaved ice. The teas were alright, pretty standard when compared to other locations. The chocolate shaved ice was ok sized for the price, which could only be found by going online to look at their ChowBus menu, or through the rotating screens up behind the counter. The chocolate shaved ice was light and melted in the mouth quickly, while the additional toppings were good.

Overall it was a decent experience, but they need to print updated menus for their new food offerings, as it only lists drinks.“

“LimeRed Teahouse is a small cafe located right outside of the BU campus, with a wide range of desserts and drinks to try out.

The staff are pretty welcoming, able to cater to most requests and are able to explain any recommendations to new customers. They make the drinks pretty quick and kept us informed throughout the process.

We typically come here to get Bubble Waffles with Ice cream, which does take a little time to make, but the batter used is light and fluffy and goes well with the ice cream they serve. They also have macarons here, which are pretty standard. The teas are good, some of them don't have as strong as a flavor as they should but overall is pretty good.

Definitely a good place to study or just to hang out while in the area.“

“As someone who has searched for the best boba in Harvard Square since 2017, I am telling you this is the best spot. It's the classic standby. It's been here for years and it will continue to last, no matter how many other bubble tea shops open (and inevitably close) in the rest of the square. It's consistent, it's very decent boba and tea, it has a nice big menu and great weekday specials, and it's pretty fast.

Ten One is expensive, overcrowded, and inconsistent quality-wise, with a limited menu and slow service; the only thing it has better than Kung Fu is their branding. Tiger Sugar is terrible; the last time I got milk foam there, I could literally see it curdling in my tea.“

“Nice bubble tea place! This one is a chain. One thing that I really like about it is that they partner with mochi nut and zz desserts and the hot dog place so there are quite a few food options. Supposedly they make their own boba here! They do have three options, two were available when we went. The brown sugar boba and their white boba. We got two drinks.

I ordered the brewed oolong peach tea with white boba. I asked them if it was sweet and they said yes. Honestly this drink was not my favorite, it was just a little lacking in sweetness. The oolong flavor was good, but the boba was fully tasteless although the texture was fantastic.

My partner ordered the passion fruit green tea with brown sugar boba and it was absolutely delicious.

I would say if you're going to go with the brewed tea options Just be aware I think it's not super sweet, and if you get the white boba instead of the brown sugar boba is also not very sweet or flavorful so heads up!“
