“Hot fresh bagels with lots of seeds or toppings on them. It’s purely takeout so even if you only want one bagel get three with a schmear and have a party. They don’t have a place to sit, but there are plenty of spots nearby. Go across the street to the Commonwealth pier and enjoy a bagel with a view.“

“Bagels are absolutely awesome here! It came fresh out of the oven, the plain one in particular I ordered the sesame, every thing bagel and the plain one. Each one of them have their own individual flavor to explore, and I really enjoyed all of them. Me and my mom had some issues figuring out how to order but one of the servers were extremely polite and offered to explain to us. They gave us also a big tub of cream cheese, which is quite surprising for me personally as a foreigner. The atmosphere was also very nice as it seems like the decoration made the whole shop very suitable to its name as it pops up! Overall, I really recommend to try this place if you want a quick bite touring or visiting or studying around Harvard.“

“Cafe Fresh is such a great spot for a fresh and delicious breakfast! They have a large selection of fresh bagels that you can customize however you like, whether you want a simple spread or a full sandwich. They also have muffins, cookies, chips, bottled drinks, and a great selection of hot or iced coffee with different flavors.

I ordered an onion bagel with lox cream cheese, and it was absolutely delicious and so fresh! The bagel had the perfect crunch on the outside while still being soft and chewy on the inside, and there was just the right amount of cream cheese.

Whether you want to sit down and enjoy your breakfast or grab something quick to take on the go, Cafe Fresh is a great choice. I’ll definitely be back! Highly recommend!“

“Got a variety of tarts (classic egg, strawberry custard egg, jasmine matcha tart) and a strawberry matcha latte on a Monday afternoon after lunch nearby. There was a promo where if you buy 2 tarts you get 1 free. My favs were the strawberry matcha latte and jasmine matcha tart.

The strawberry jam/syrup is the best part of the drink, perfectly tart and just sweet enough. It even has chunks of strawberry in there that were really good. Make sure to grab the thicker straw if you get this drink so you can mash the chunks of berries down more.

Jasmine matcha tart had mochi and adzuki paste in it. Mochi was more like the milk mochi texture that you can get in some shops, so gooey-er and I thought it went well with the other textures. There was a decent amount of bean paste in there, which I really liked but for people who don't like beans at all, maybe skip because you could feel a bit of that texture. Tastewise, I noticed more jasmine matcha and cream than the adzuki. I hope this is a staple because I would plan to get this every time I visit in the future.“

“I have been going to Bagels Best since I was a kid with my grandfather every morning after I slept over. They have had the best bagels by a long shot and I have traveled across the state to get their bagels, breakfast bagel, and smoked salmon which is spectacular! Such great food in a great establishment run by amazing people who care about their customers. Highly recommended!!“

It’s quite expensive. Plus, they charge $2 to slice bagels and will only do so if you call ahead to place your order. They don’t have any vegan/tofutti cream cheese for sale. Expect a line out the door if going in the morning.“

“Old fashioned bakery specializing in jewish goods. Clientele ranges from orthodox jews, to locals and destination diners like myself.

My favorite aspect is that they focus on the traditional greats (e.g., Bagels, Challah, etc.) and do them very well.

Their bagels are (IMHO) the very best in the greater Boston area. There are a few “modern” additions, but nothing like the crazy flavors being produced elsewhere. The Challah is light, flavorful with a perfect texture. The in-house cream cheese is light, appropriately tangy and simply delicious.

Highly recommended for a visit.“

“The BYO lox bagel. Btw not an issue at all that the toppings were on the side. It was 10/10 the best I’ve ever had. Came with the right amount of everything so if you wanted more or less, it was up to you. Ofc onion, tomato and capers. Suggest with jalapeño cheddar and scallion CC. “I recommend this location for their bagels, but NEVER buy a gift card for someone who would use this location. They do not take them. Corporate says that because this is a licensed store, they can choose not to....buyer beware for here and ANY location that is licensed on a college campus, airport or mall. They apologized and have only a handful of locations in the USA that will take a gift card. 😢“

“Went first thing in the morning, got exceptional service 😁 those guys know breakfast. The waffles are ABSOLUTELY amazing. But that's not all they have something for everyone. This place easily beats bruggers and a few other places in Massachusetts. Just go there and look at the menu. I promise you won't be disappointed 10/10 must try again“

“A hidden neighborhood gem we discovered while visiting Boston this past weekend. Our hotel was situated in a bit of a no-man’s land that made it difficult to do our usual walking to find good coffee in the AM but I’m glad we persisted. I found the Black Sheep Market after a refusal for settling for DD coffee. This spot was a brisk 10 min walk from our hotel- we got there shortly after doors opened on Sunday and while coffee drew us in we quickly discovered their incredibly solid selection of store made donuts and baked goods. I am going to be dreaming about the Boston Creme donut I left with for some time. Nothing better on the planet when it comes to donuts than that one right there. My husband ordered a cinnamon and sugar donut which he exclaimed melted in his mouth, and for our son who had been studying French- a chocolate croissant- delectable! The coffee - the reason we went at all- was hot, fresh, and delicious. Also warmed our hands on the cold walk back to the hotel for a bonus! The shop itself offered a wide variety of other goods - which we didn’t need that particular morning, but I’d love to have just around the corner if I lived in this Cambridge area neighborhood.

I got a lime Ricky. It's the greatest. The staff always had a big smile always seats outside everything's fresh. I've taken home pumpernickel bagels. I come here with joy my heart.“

“Really tasty bagels and croissants. I especially like the caprese croissant sandwich. I've been on multiple occasions, and some staff are friendly, others less so. In the afternoon when it's slow, one employee had an AirPod in. There are a few high-chair seats but definitely more of a grab-and-go type of place.“

The bagels are the foundation and they hold up well as a vehicle for everything built on top of them, with the everything bagel being the standout in the lineup. The egg and cheese sandwiches are the move for a proper breakfast, with a generous amount of meat and a combination that comes together cleanly on a toasted bagel. The bacon, egg, and cheddar on a plain toasted bagel is a reliable build that covers all the bases without overcomplicating things.

Where expectations need calibrating is on the bagel itself.
