“Five-Star, A-Plus...whatever...this place is fabulous. I've been only once, about a week ago, while visiting friends in Great Barrington. My mouth waters at the thought of returning. There used to be a similar kind of establishment in a neighborhood of Boston where I lived. That boulangerie is long gone now but in my memory - and in my wife's memory, too - it is the greatest boulangerie we have ever been to in this country. Pixie might rival it. I gotta go back soon!“

“BEST donuts I've had in the Northeast so far. I've been looking for any donut shop that's not a Dunkin Donuts and it's been difficult to find. I'm from Canada and Tim Hortons is my baseline for a decent donut. Shire donuts are the same texture, extremely fresh and made to order. Absolutely delicious and can't wait to try more flavours!“

“Bartlett's Farm not only offers pick-your-own apple orchards between Labor and Columbus Days, but also has a year-round store offering baked goods (including cider donuts), whatever apples are left, house-canned jams, spreads, and honey, and even products from other local businesses like SoCo ice cream. The market is fairly good-sized given its relatively remote location, so it's worth a stop for truly fresh, local, seasonal goods if you happen to be driving past.“
“Stopped in to the bakery this past weekend. We were staying at the hotel next door, making a visit back to our hometown for a family event. We fondly remember the bread from childhood and have been excited to see it and buy it in supermarkets near our Boston home recently. The rye bread is awesome, but I am also enjoying the chocolate and apple breads. My husband adores the soft slider rolls too. During our visit we had the opportunity to meet the congenial owners and have a brief chat. The owner was gracious enough to add some extra rolls to our order. our niece loved having them for her engagement party. The kindness was much appreciated and we look forward to stocking up on more bread when we return to Pittsfield this fall. In the meantime we will look for it in our local Shaw’s. “When the baker we normally use was unavailable, we contacted Sarah, and she created the most beautiful and delicious Confirmation cake for our daughter. We found a picture similar to what we were looking for and voila! Her passion for baking is evident in her work and her suggested tweaks made the presentation even more beautiful. “I ordered the hot chocolate and an almond chocolate pastry. Both were excellent. The hot chocolate was reminiscent of what you would see depicted in old Disney cartoons. I wish it was served at a slightly higher temp but it was as close as one gets to a perfect hot chocolate.“
“A small gem in Lenox. We've been here before and have never been disappointed. You order, sit down and they bring you the food, you bus your own table. The seating area has a homey feel. My wife and I each had a healthy bowl of pea soup, delicious with diced potatoes included. Perfect for the autumn day. My wife also had the ham and Swiss on baguette. She asked for it to be warmed and they accommodated. I had the ham and Swiss croissant with Bechamel sauce. This was a winner, the croissant was perfect. We also took with us a Napoleon and eclair that we ate later. The Napoleon had the perfect flakiness along with the best cream layers. We always stop here when in the Berkshires.“
