“Great dining option in downtown lowell. This restaurant hosts a traditional Irish pub theme and takes you away from the city bustle. Their menu has burgers, cottage pie, bangers and mash and more. They also have weekly specials so always worth a return trip. Their bar has a great selection of drinks and of course, plenty of whiskey. Pricing is average for a night out and close to parking garage.“

Edgar Allen Poe

“I hosted a private event upstairs for about 65 ppl. The food was fantastic - we had tips, rice and salad, as well as plenty of apps beforehand - there was plenty of food for our guests. The bartenders and wait staff were so helpful that evening. Penny, the owner and Chris, the cook - could not have been more accommodating to us; always checking in- great communication while planning. The room was rustic with tables scattered throughout for the guest. Our evening was perfect.“

“Large portions, friendly staff, and good service.Local spot for Portuguese dishes. Can get quite busy, but the servers are attentive and helpful. We typically always get the kale soup, house steak and Portuguese fries (more like plantain looking cut chips). Had the special lobster scallop and shrimp scampi dish tonight over linguine which was very good. Seafood stew is very hearty. Flan was also very good.*sharing menu as it’s not visible anywhere else online*“

Charlies Pub Pubs • $$
14 Cabot St, Lowell

“First, I'd like to say I tried contacting Charlie's before I went this route. I didn't get a response. I've been to Charlie's with a group of 8 for lunch. It was very good. We got what we ordered and everything was delivered together. On Friday, 4 of us went there for food and drinks before the Folk Festival. Okay, Corona, I asked for lime. Didn’t get it. No biggie. Two of us ordered hamburgers, one ordered a tuna sandwich, the 4th haddock. Nope, no haddock. Okay, sirloin tips. Nope. Country chicken. Nope and don't know what it is. Okay....I'll have a hamburger. 15 minutes after (mind you 25 minutes have already passed), sorry. no buns. How about white bread! 40 minutes after initial order, hamburger on white bread and something resembling a tuna sandwich (?) arrives. We felt sorry for the waitress. But definitely poor service. I'm sorry I have to post this, I like helping local businesses, but lack of listed items was horrible.“

Catcher's Mitt Bar • $$
726 Gorham St, Lowell

“Great low-key atmosphere. Excellent variety of drinks. Friendly staff with a focus on safety and cleanliness. There are an assortment of sports on screens throughout the establishment, so whatever game you're looking to watch is always available for viewing. They have Keno and lottery for additional entertainment. Music plays at a pleasant, audible level, to set a fun mood, but it's not so loud as to interfere with conversation. My ears don't ring when I go home from here. It always makes my night when Elisha is tending bar. Convenient parking.“
