“I stopped by the Heights Pub while passing through town. I really enjoyed this welcoming, small, cozy neighborhood tavern. The menu is enormous, the service is excellent, the beer was cold, and the food was very good. I had the baked haddock sandwich - it was super fresh and delicious with a ton of haddock. Great value. Next time I'm definitely going to try to Gloucester Reuben!I loved the ambiance of the muted country/pop music in the background - most bars these days have 2 volumes, 0 and 10.I highly recommend if you are in the area and looking for a relaxing lunch.“

“This place is a solid dive like bar with a cool atmosphere & great bartenders. When we first got there it was packed with a lot of college aged kids watching the basketball games. Thought about leaving since we were looking for a more bar stool bum kinda place but after talking to the bartender Sean we decided to stay. Crazy coincidence was that his last name & my married last name were almost exactly the same. Only off by one letter which was hilarious (had to be there/ know the last names). We also chatted about closing Wolski's which is a must do for any Milwaukeean or visitor who loves a good ol dive bar. Sean was great with getting drinks to us fast as well as other bar recommendations that were our style. After being there for a bit it cleared out & the bar stool bumming began. If you are looking for a good place to have a cold one at with great convos with the bartenders, pop in here.“

Distraction Brewing Co. Brewery • $$
2 Belgrade Ave, Roslindale - 8.98 miles

“The Tall Man and I were looking for a low key hangout with baby in tow, and Distraction Brewing was the perfect place. This new-to-us brewery on the cute pedestrian-only Birch St. had an outdoor patio but we opted for seats inside. It's not a big place, but it has a good number of tables and bench seating in a brightly lit space. The Tall Man got the autumn flight of 4 beers (one being one of their maltinis), which he enjoyed for their variety. I wasn't up for imbibing so I got a Health-Aid kombucha from the fridge. (They also carry Athlete's nonalcoholic beer in cans.) They have some packaged snacks for purchase, but they encourage people to get food from local businesses to eat there. It was pretty darn convenient to pick up lunch from nearby Chilacates. It made for a very chill lunch and sip. We weren't even the only ones with a stroller! It was a relief to find a brewery that's not utterly mobbed and where we could bring the little one. I would definitely come back for another relaxing hangout.“

I ordered the chicken quesadilla, which was very juicy and jam-packed with minced pieces of fajita vegetables. It was delicious and cheesy. Every ingredient was very fresh and of good quality. It came with a side of cheesy refried beans, which were incredible! They were so good I'd honestly order them on their own. Wow! My girlfriend reported that her Bahn Mi sandwich was good, but a little on the hotter side. If you're a spice lover like me, though, that is a perk! “Definitely on the fence for 5 v. 4 stars. It a great space with lots of interesting decor, and the upper floor has a great vibe ...get up there if possible. Service was good; expected for a slow evening. Vibe is nice...not too much TV or music pervading, yet not lacking in some liveliness either...nice touch. Host was great and re-seated to better spot (chairs not stools) was easy. The standard menu (no specials that night) had scallops which were super! Cooked perfectly with the broc rabe also perfect on the side. The risotto, possibly from another school of risotto-thought, was not so. Just OK and seeming under cooked a bit and underwhelming... some umami or like influence would be good/needed. Duck dish was nice...but, they asked if medium rare is OK which it is! and should be. It was a precut set portion of tiny fillets which is great ( tho Im a fan of on the bone or "whole" fillet). What came up was nearly raw in the middle...yes, I definitely could have sent it back, but i"m lazy I guess and wanted to start eating together. Note to chef: a thin/medium size line of pink is good but a big old bunch is not. Note I eat rare /medium rare everything including lamb and port, but this was 'too much'...again my fault for not sending back, but.... Asparagus side was done very well...not under/over cooked. I'll be back!“

“I recommend anything but the calzones. I’ve ordered food a bunch of times from Franco’s, a few times in person and 3 times via Grubhub. All 3 times I ordered through Grubhub I chose a calzone. The first time the calzone was cooked fantastically, but the last 2 times it was raw dough in the middle where the folds are. The last time I ordered a calzone which happened to be raw in the middle I just threw it away because I didn’t have time to make a complaint. I ordered another calzone tonight hoping it was just a fluke (New cook? Just super busy and overlooked? Whatever, we all make mistakes NBD) since everything else in my order was perfect. When it arrived I checked the calzone and it was raw again. I made the decision to call the restaurant to let them know and to see if I could send it back for something different. The man on the phone told me I was wrong and that he cooked it himself and it wasn’t raw because “he checked”. I told him it most certainly was raw and that I was hoping for an exchange. He said he couldn’t do anything for me and I’d have to call Grubhub about that. He said I’d have to go in person to exchange it. I said “okay fine I guess I’ll call Grubhub” and then he said something I couldn’t understand and hung up on me. I’m really disappointed. I frequent Franco’s for karaoke and spend money at the bar and restaurant often enough to expect a fair exchange and some decent customer service when I need it. I asked for his help and he offered me nothing. Order anything else but the calzones unless you like your dough to be raw, I guess? I HIGHLY recommend the jalapeño poppers though. They’re always perfect and a surprisingly good size.“

“Actually came downtown to go to a show that's actually next week on the same day...Stopped in for a wee drink and smelled the delicious waft of the house burger next to me.You might think a house burger in a small side bar is somewhat risky....Don't.Worth every penny...Ask for the Malt Vinegar behind the bar for the fries.Good assortment on tap, we're in Boston, but try the R.I. Whalers on tap. Clean and crisp...Ask for Dickie- Service with a Smile!!!Don't forget extra napkins -You'll need them .Nom! Nom! Nom!Extra bonus Silver Sun Pickups was playing in background ?‍?“

“Yup. Believe the hype. Came on a Sunday afternoon and it was packed to the gills, yet I got a seat at the bar, a beer, and my food super fast. Sports bar atmosphere. Nothing fancy, because the focus is on the food. I went for trad wings and some extra hot boneless. Boneless might have had a tad too much breading that made them fall apart a bit, but the flavor was 9/10. The wings on the bone though were the best I've had in a long time. Very traditional. Perfect fry, perfect heat, perfect acid, perfect size, perfect moisture. They know what they're doing with these. 11/10“

“Friendly staff, including folks I know from High School, relaxed atmosphere, and tasty pub food. Highly recommend the BLT plate, and their Burgers are delicious. Definitely get their sweet potato fries, those things are addictive. Can be a bit busy at times, but it’s a down to earth local bar/pub. Good for a night with that family, or watching the Pats. They also have a large variety of drinks and spirits. And they will occasionally have live music on the weekends (local bands)Kid-friendliness: I see a lot of families come in for lunch on the weekends. Pretty chill place for families, and staff our friendly.“

“Walked here before a concert. We grabbed a high top and stole chairs from other people's tables they weren't using. We were trying to order food on the app when the bartender came over. She was super nice, asked if we needed drinks. Gave some recommendations. We started with tatchos, a Vermont cider and a Long Island. We also ordered burgers. I did not expect the food to be as good as it was. The burger was really greasy but honestly I haven't had a burger like that in so long-it was welcomed. Everything was so damn good. If we didn't live 2 hours away it would easily have been a regular visit.“

“This restaurant is a part of the group that brought you Russell House Tavern and Hourly Oyster. I think it may be the best of the three! We had the chicken wings, beet salad, and slow-roasted half chicken and it was mind blowing. The service was excellent and attentive even on a very busy Saturday night. The beet salad was a standout and the flavor of the slow-roasted chicken was insane. A strong recommend!“

“I have a sodium restriction and they accommodate very well. I check my medical stats today and no change. This shows that they didn't use sodium items on my food and still made it flavorful I loved the Haddock, Fries well needed ketchup and the coleslaw had to be made on site just by the creaminess and the freezing lemonade was unforgettable.“

“Bartender on Mondays is amazing. 10/10 hot red head with a little bit of cinnamon spice. Almost thought I was at hooters when I walked in. and that man working the bar on Monday days? Think I've seen him on my tik tok for you page before, pretty sure he's an influencer. 10/10 establishment. Recommend to everyone.“

“No food here. We went to check it out for a pats game and the nice bartender said they don't serve food anymore. It's a legit straight up bar with probably 5 locals so that's that. 5 stars cause the bartender recommended a great pub that served food. Boston!“

“We had their hamburgers, and they were delicious. We had 1 in our party who has Celiac and was assured that they have a completely separate area where they prepare their GF dishes. All in all, I would definitely recommend this place to anyone with gluten sensitivity.“
