“I was on a flight once, and after the plane landed the flight attendants walked around with iPads asking passengers if they'd like to tip the flight crew. I'm only kidding, but in today's day and age where tipping culture has run amok, I wouldn't be surprised if this became the norm. Spirit, don't get any ideas, now! I have no problem with tipping, and do so generously. Yet, in a world where the trees will soon be subtly nudging towards a tablet with every breath I take, it was refreshing to hear about a no-tipping restaurant that pays its staff fair wages. Always nice to support a family business, too. Thus, when I was more-or-less in the area and due for a family date night, I decided to finally give The Cormorant a try. I had the opportunity to try the Naan-chos and the Duck vs. Cow burger. With the Naan-chos, I appreciate the creativity, but the execution did not work for me. I feel that the parts did not work together to form a cohesive dish. This comes down to two factors: First, the large size of the ingredients, specifically the naan chips and veggies. There is only so much I can fit in my mouth without looking like a barbarian! Second, the lack of cheese as a binding agent meant there was little to help stick components together. Where it comes to the parts on their own, the naan chips were a good base for the dish, and were cooked nicely to give just the right amount of crispness while not making them as hard as a tortilla chip. The hummus, beef, and veggies were good, but nothing to write home about. Though, I'd like to mention: the "spiced" beef felt as if the only spice was salt, and maybe pepper. The harissa, meanwhile was incredible! It had great flavor, and a pleasant level of heat. Meanwhile, the garlic maple tahini sauce did not work in this dish. It was heavy, in-your-face sweetness that did not meld with any other ingredient. The Duck vs. Cow burger was a different story. I loved the combination of the duck confit and burger patty. The duck especially was cooked to perfection and brought tremendous flavor. The aioli and the sweetness offered lovely savory and gently sweet notes that complimented the protein nicely. The only thing missing for my taste is some kind of acid, even if it is only a pickle on the side. The onion rings though didn't quite do it for me - they felt a little heavy on the breading, and were the kind that the little onion strings escapes leaving a substantial bread shell behind. Inside, the space is small yet warm and inviting, and has counter seating and a couple tables. The service is polite and appropriately fast. The prices were reasonable, especially considering there wasn't the de facto service charge which is an expected tip. Thus, while The Cormorant was a positive experience I don't see myself schlepping from Quincy.“

“The small burger chain, Lexie's, should not be missed. They have a handful of locations in Massachusetts and NH. The one in Newburyport is on the main drag and is easy to get to. The dining room is small but clean and bright with neat artwork on the walls. Piped in music was not too loud. The staff is friendly and engaging. Their burgers are just the right size, never too big and not too small. Delightfully messy and tasty! Their fries are perfect and can be ordered in a few different ways. Definitely stop for lunch or dinner!“

“if you haven't been to this Wendy's in a while give it another shot. the wait in the drive-thru can be a little long but that's just because they seem to make everything fresh now, no heat lamp burgers that have been sitting out. after swearing off Wendy's for a few years it is now back in my good gracesWheelchair accessibility: Wendy's is wheelchair accessible“

“I’m slack-jawed… this is the best McDonald’s I’ve ever been to. The best Filet of Fish I’ve ever had (tastes like actual fish, hot all the way through, sauce and cheese evenly distributed….amazing!). If these are the same ingredients every McD’s uses, how do the other locations manage to output such reliable mediocrity and disappointment? The drive-thru service was incredible. The speaker/microphone made ordering and communications super easy. The teller basically read our minds, and wasn’t confused by the request for no sugar in the iced coffee, which is also relatively one of the best from McDonald’s. Not sure how they do what they do, but wanted to leave a review if only to remember which location this was upon visiting New England again.“

“Hands down the best pizza we’ve had since we left the NYC metro area more than a decade ago. Authentic New York style thin crust pizza. The pepperoni pizza is our favorite, and the veggie pizza is great, too. AND, he has great Indian food, too. Buy a pie and he’ll give you a sample of the Indian food. He’s a really nice man. Don’t let the exterior put you off. This is a real hidden gem.“

“If you are looking for frills with your meal, this isn't the place for you. This is more of a hole in wall spot where the locals tend to hang out and they only accept cash. With that said we walked in and were told to seat where we wanted. We grabbed a booth and we were asked if we wanted coffee. Sure we yelled back and the waitress showed up at our table with a coffee pot, the mugs were already on the table. So was the plastic ware (remember I said NO frills) and napkins, as well as the sugar and butter, she brought some creamer with her. During the week they have lunch specials, however they have reasonable prices and large portions. We each got the number 4, which came with 2 eggs any style, a meat choice, and toast. We also each ordered a muffin. If you made it this far, don't be surprised when your food comes out on styrofoam plates (I said NO FRILLS!), but the food was good, I liked the plum muffin that was heated up and I had lots of laughs just listening to Uda, as she is a straight shooter. I will say that the lady who recommended it called herself a foodie and this is NOT where a foodie would normally send someone as this is stuff that is simple but good with NO FRILLS but will get you full and not break your pockets. With that, if I'm ever back in the area, I'll be back!“
