“Great food and service. Bierra tacos were great- we drank the au-jus straight as it had nice cinnamon overtones. Guacamole was perfect with the chips light and fluffy. The 3 tacos- were the traditional small one: the pastor had small amounts of pineapple - very traditional; steak (carne asada) was cooked perfectly as little strips and the carnitas has tons of flavor. The trea-leche was a hit with it's nice flavora. The margherita was flavorful and well balanced. The service was amazing- they gave us special hot sauce, not on the menu, when we asked for habanero sauce (they didn't have). Will go again- need to taste everything on the menu!“

“We stopped in on the way home from the airport, and it was amazing! From the moment we walked in the door, we felt welcomed. The atmosphere and food were awesome. I highly recommend the Mickey’s Chicken special and the red sangria which was a deep dark red- as sangria should be. Yum! My children loved our Irish waitress who Made them laugh and feel special. This restaurant is over an hour from where we live, but there is no doubt we will travel back often. Wonderful experience!“

This place sells top quality Vietnamese food and the owners are some of the most hospitable workers you’ll come across. The food is fresh and authentic. The portions are generous. Just order if you’re reading these reviews, you won’t regret it.“

“We recently stayed in Newton for a mini vacation from Canada (visiting Boston). Every night of our stay we ate at this restaurant. I know, not overly adventurous but when the food is this good and the atmosphere is right, why bother looking? You won’t find better! We tried: - Pan seared chicken: AMAZING. - Fish and chips: when you live on the east coast it’s hard to get good fish and chips but these hit the mark! - Filet Mignon: Full of flavour and tender. - Steak Tips: Again, tender and full of flavour. - Risotto: Wonderfully strong mushroom flavour but yet offset with a field of flavours. - Scallops: Seared to perfection. - Short-rib Meatballs: Meat and cheese combo to die for. - Calamari: Another difficult one to get right and find fresh! This was one of my favourite with the dip and hot peppers. - Sirloin: Cooked to perfection, flavour was a hit and a good portion size, well worth the money. THE HOUSE SALAD: All I can say, EMAIL ME THE RECIPE FOR THE DRESSING!! This was the best item for me on the menu. Fresh, simple and full of flavour. I got it with every meal. So to recap: 10/10“

“After driving to two places that were either closed or stopped making food, my bf and I went to this place we always passed in the area but never went to. Decided to give a chance. Got soup and two chicken pitas. So good and I mean so good. I’m particular on my chicken gyro and I rarely eat the whole thing. But this time I did. They’re not the size of your leg like some places do but it’s a reasonable portion. Leaves room to eat the delicious lemon chicken soup. I am totally getting it on my day off this week. And the service was pretty quick.“

“JP Licks is a long standing Ice cream chain throughout the Boston area.

Staff scoop quickly, Ice cream is fresh and tasty. The ice cream is on the expensive side, but is rich in flavor, a bit sweet but not overly sweet, and has a great taste.

They have soft serve options as well as yogurt available, and there are many flavors available for ice cream as well.“

Unsure why this chain is not entirely vegan - surely they could replace the cheese and sour cream (and egg) with vegan substitutes - but anyway I had the Mediterranean Bowl: falafels with chickpea and eggplant salad (could not identify any eggplant), pickled red cabbage and a green tart tahini dressing on the side. Very, very tasty. Tho be warned - if you don’t like your meals drowned in tahini, perhaps best to request this on the side.“

“So I noticed that Newton has a restaurant called Coconut Cafe, and I thought it would be funny to get a picture of a Lime Bike inside the front door, because “you put the Lime in the Coconut” and all that, so I went over there today, and the place turns out to be pretty nice and I was already feeling like this wouldn’t be a particularly polite (or funny) joke, but anyway the closest Lime Bike I could find was about a block away, and when I tried picking it up to bring it over to Coconut Cafe to maybe get a “put the lime *by* the coconut” photo instead, the bike started talking to me, saying “PLEASE PAY ME A DOLLAR AND YOU CAN RIDE ME! PLEASE PUT ME DOWN OR I WILL CALL THE POLICE! THIS IS YOUR SECOND WARNING, I AM ABOUT TO CALL THE POLICE.” and I decided that this stupid joke wasn’t worth getting arrested for and at that point I was too annoyed to pay the dollar to unlock the bike to ride it a grand total of about 30 feet for a joke photo that the owner of the shop would justifiably get mad at me for anyway, so I left the bike there and just had lunch instead (Bangkok-style veggie pad thai, they told me it would take 15 minutes but then it was ready in about 1.5 minutes, so that was nice) and it was delicious. “Best donuts in the area! Their donuts are incredible in flavor. They’re light, fluffy, and delicious - my kids request them every week! Our favorites are vanilla glaze, everything donut, and the Apple fritter. Sometimes they have savory tarts which are SO good. We especially love the pride donuts they have every June. Blackbird employees are always so friendly and welcoming as well, which is also appreciated. Blackbird also delivers through DoorDash, and the donuts are always delivered fresh. The Newton location does not have a bathroom, fyi but that does not detract from the amazing food! Thank you Blackbird for being such a wonderful addition to our community!“
