“I recently received a gift card to this restaurant so this past weekend I decided to take my mother for dinner there. It is a nice restaurant, good sized, and you may sit either in the dining room or at the bar. The menu has something for everybody on it with steaks, sandwiches, seafood and salads available. I had the steak tips. They were delicious and cooked exactly the way that I specified. On the menu it says they are served with fries but my server let me switch out the fries for mashed potatoes instead. I also had the coleslaw that they serve with the steak tips. It is made with kale and is very delicious. My mother had a sandwich and she enjoyed it as well. The atmosphere here is very nice and if you are lucky and can get a table near the windows you will get a great view of the beautiful Boston skyline. From the service to the food to the beverages we really enjoyed our dinners.“

Our server was Sara as we requested her because of another incredible visit a few weeks ago. She gave us time as they were running late and did it with a smile. “My fiancé and I moved to Weymouth a few months ago and one of the first places we went to eat was Johnny Kono's. At first, we were thrown off by how few tables there were, but once we settled in and the food started coming, it has become one of our favorite places to eat. The El Chapo wings are some of the best we've ever had, great spice and flavor with a some acidity to tie it all together. The burgers are incredible, even the Louis lunch burger, which although very simple, always is delicious. They really live up to their claim of being a "Five Star Dive Bar." I'm so sad I didn't discover this place until now, close to when it will bid its farewell, but I am happy that I was able to try a few items. The strawberry matcha latte ($5.75) is a seasonal drink inspired by a cafe in Providence, RI, which I have been meaning to try, so I was very excited to get it. The drink was smooth and not sugary (as is preferred), and the strawberry was fresh. I also tried the banana bread ($3.50), which was surprisingly my first time in general. I got it with a side of zucchini and summer squash - which were cooked perfectly; neither mushy nor undercooked - and melt-in-your-mouth buttery mashed potatoes. When the bill came, we couldn't believe how low the total was. Incredible value, for sure. All of this and terrific service, to boot! Margie was such a great server - she took excellent care of us. I understand food prices have gone up but they’re pricing out their regulars. I would come at least once a week but, for a family, it’s too much for that. I feel like this spot could thrive with the right prices and events to bring the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s crowd in. I also think the function hall area is severely underused. “We finally returned to The Snug since before COVID restrictions. We loved the Irish music and oldies bands. We arrived before the music this evening and were lucky to be seated immediately. It is usually crowded and noisy. Our server was personable and got our drinks and food quickly. The Snug is, as the name suggests, a snug Irish pub filled with Irish memorabilia. The Smithwicks had a plump foamy head and is lighter than Guinness. My SO's sangria had a hint of peach schnapps flavor. The Greek salad was more than enough for two. The fried haddock sandwich was so big I thought it was the fish dinner. The fish was flaky with a crunchy exterior and the roll was soft and delicious. I had it served with vegetables; the carrots and green beans were tasty but the broccoli was cold. The appetizing chicken salad sandwich was a bit different; shredded chicken and craisins were on a hot dog bun and the mayo was on the side. We will return to The Snug soon to enjoy the music, food and drinks.“

When we left, the restaurant had just changed hands and was trying hard to maintain the homey feeling the joint already had .We visited for the first time in two years on a weekday and I'm happy to say the have settled in nicely.
