““Pure Pastry” was highly recommended by “Cakes for Occasions” because they couldn’t make a Vegan cake. So I called and asked Kim to make my son who is a Vegan an all Vegan birthday cake. We were all pleasantly surprised at how delicious and moist his chocolate cake was with vanilla cream frosting with strawberries in the middle and on top was. Five people ate this cake and we all loved the taste. It looked beautiful too. Another thing I also love about this bakery is the cake box. The cake fit in the box very nicely and on the top you could see the cake through a see through film which was an elegant touch. My son’s cake was so good that I had to order a Vegan strawberry vanilla cake for my birthday too. I can’t wait to get it. Kim is so very friendly and such a nice person and she is very easy to get a hold of on the phone. I very highly recommend Kim and “Pure Pastry” for all of your pastry needs.“

Yes, the coffee is excellent and the food is very good, but it's the warmth and hospitality of the owner, Bud, that has impressed us most. We have lived and travelled in many places around the world but rarely have we experienced an owner with such a wonderful attitude and such a welcome. “We loved Newburyport and were grateful to find a perfect location for our lunch stop on our way from Boston to Acadia. Elizabeth was our server and she was excellent. We were seated outside with a harbor and park view. It was quiet, in the shade and thoroughly enjoyable. We had the lobster roll and a dozen oysters and the food was delicious. It was hard to live this charming town, but it won our hearts so we hope to be back. Thank you!!“

“Gluten Free Chocolate Chip cookies! That's the one thing my wife wants me to let you know. We were fortunate to stop here while traveling through. We got a few coffees, crescents (not GF) and cookies. After we drove away my wife started raving about how amazing the GF Chocolate Chip cookies were. She told me several times they were the best she ever had and wished that we had gotten more. I had a bite (even though I love gluten in my cookies) and I have to admit they were great. Thanks for a great treat! My wife's only regret is that we were traveling (11 hours away) and we won't be in the area again to get some more. If you stop by, be sure to eat a GF cookie for her!“

My major critique would be the breakfast potatoes served for breakfast and brunch for the amount of money you're charging you would be well. served to actually make them fresh (they currently seemed like something you would buy in bulk in a bag in Walmart and just throw on a pan in an oven no seasoning, clearly premade, store-bought, lowest quality-more like potato chunks, not even home fries) and including the bread assortment as part of the breakfast would also be a nice touch the fact that you have to pay for that now - when it used to be included - is just kind of ridiculous when the prices are much higher than anywhere in the area and I know we're paying for the view but like it's still silly! I will say your lunch salads are a wonderful deal!“
