I tried their canelé and chocolate croissant, which lived up to their reputation. The canelé was perfectly crispy on the outside, soft and custardy within, and the chocolate croissant had these endless layers, each bite flaking away to reveal the deep chocolate tucked inside. You can taste the skill and attention that goes into these pastries; it’s obvious they’re baked with genuine love.

Michette feels like it could quickly become a contender for one of Boston’s go-to bakeries. I’ll be back soon, and if you’re a pastry lover, this place is definitely worth a visit.“

The pastries are a saving grace, by the way. Nothing distinguishing about their sourdough and other bread varieties though good (slightly expensive). Their flour-free chocolate cake takes the cake for innovation and taste.
If only they would make an effort to combine the coffee shop next door (also owned/leased by clearflour mgmt.) they could customer convenience that bit more amenable.“

The space is small, with just a few tables, but they also have a separate online order window, which is great for pick-up. My friend and I tried two lattes—one fall special and a vanilla oat milk latte—and both were solid, quality coffees. Nothing extraordinary, but definitely satisfying.

It was a bit busy, so we waited around 15-20 minutes, but it was worth it. We both went for breakfast sandwiches, which come in different varieties with optional toppings for an additional charge. Honestly, this was one of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve had in a long time. Even though it was on a smaller English muffin, it was hearty without being overly filling, and everything was cooked perfectly—especially the melted American cheese. The English muffins were soft and had a great flavor, much better than store-bought.

Buttery but light and flaky, cooked just right - understated perfection in a bag! I grew up in France, and this is honestly one of the best French pastries I have had in 28 years living in the US. “Wanted a quick breakfast on the go and this place hit the spot! The walk-up stall was busy, but the line was moving quickly. The person taking orders was friendly and efficient, and you could see the team working hard to crank out orders. They had an array of sourdough bagels, schmears, and breakfast sandwiches. I got the B Flat on Jalapeño Cheddar (a weekend special flavor) with bacon and it was very good. The sauce they use was nice and complimented the cheese and bacon well. We also took some bagels and schmear to-go for snacking later.

My only complaint is the bagels weren't as chewy as I like, but the tang from the sourdough was really pleasant! Overall, if you are in the area you can't go wrong with a bagel or bagel sandwich from Bagel Guild!“

“A&J King have been selling excellent traditional french bakery items for years now and have become a local institution. Over time, they've slowly been adding more vegan options to the menu. Vegan muffins, cheese, and cream cheese are available daily. They also sometimes have vegan cake, sandwich, and soup specials. There's at least one vegan employee that I know of and the staff is knowledgeable and accommodating. Plus, there's excellent coffee from local favorite roaster, Coffee by Design.“

Don't even bother if you want to enjoy your pastry's there, you will have to stand and eat them. So walked a few doors down to Modern Pastry, they had great coffee drinks and basically the same pastries with seating and table service.
