“Elevated Mediterranean fare in South EndRecently took a visit for dinner before a BSO concert. In contrast to its sister restaurant under the Mazi Group (KAVA) which centers predominantly on Greek dishes, Ilona offered a more diverse range of Mediterranean cuisine. The Mazi Group's restaurants tend to embrace a more traditional and simpler approach to Mediterranean fare, but I wasn’t quite impressed with KAVA’s execution of Greek dishes. Thankfully, Ilona turned out to be much better. Our visit on Thursday evening coincided with their Buck-a-Shuck happy hour, so we kicked off our meal with a dozen oysters. Shortly after, all five of our small plates arrived simultaneously and turned our table into a feast. Standouts included the iconic Crispy Eggplant, Molisana Ribs, and Swordfish Kebab.Drizzled with honey and further enhanced by feta cheese and pomegranate yogurt, the Eggplant was fantastic. It nicely balanced sweet and salty flavors, and the thin, crispy batter added an extra satisfying crunch. The ribs, also featuring a hint of honey in their sauce, were complemented by creamy tzatziki and were exceptionally tender. Coated in a refreshing citrus-ginger blend, the swordfish kebab was extremely soft and buttery, perhaps one of the best grilled swordfish I’ve ever had.For our entrée, they were unfortunately out of the Brodet, so we opted for the Seafood Risotto instead. At first glance, the portion seemed small given the price, but we were glad to found out that it was generously loaded with seafood rather than just filled with rice. I was especially impressed with the octopus and the mussels, which boasted a buttery soft texture that nearly melted in my mouth.Boston's Greek and Mediterranean food scene is already vibrant with restaurants from Xenia Greek Hospitality like Krasi and Bar Vlaha. Yet, Ilona is another strong contender with its straightforward, traditional fares. Looking forward to returning and exploring more of their menu.“

“First visit today, although we live somewhat in the neighborhood and I am already kicking myself for not having got here sooner. Red tabbouleh spicing was very punchy and vivid. Allspice in the stuffed grape leaves make them worth coming back for, not something I think I've ever said about stuffed grape leaves before. Most unforgettable was the red lentil soup with its soft rich velvety texture over two or three layers of different delicious flavors. Great first impression, can't wait to go back, solid A leaning toward A+.“

“Everything we ordered was excellent, chickpea sticks, dips, pear salad, lobster Campanella, and scallops. Delicious espresso martinis. I think what made our experience the greatest was our waitress EMILY. She loves her job and was so enjoyable to talk to, and gave us great recommendations. We felt lucky to have her. Will definitely be back when in town.“

“My wife gets all the credit for introducing me to this restaurant. I didn't know what to expect, but definitely one of the best restaurants I've been to in Massachusetts. This place isn't just great food, but also extremely friendly staff. I unfortunately didn't think to take photos, but we got the whipped ricotta and shared the salad. I got the chicken dish and my wife the pasta. Everything was amazing. It does seem like the dishes are on a fairly frequent rotation so new dishes pop up unless I'm mistaken. Highly recommend trying this place out and make sure you get reservations as there is limited seating.“

“My friend and I had a wonderful time and enjoyed our meals at Moona. We shared two mezes, the Chicken Tagine, and the rice pudding, all delicious, though we thought the pudding was a little too sweet. The "maitre d" was terrific, as was our bartender/waitperson who served us at the bar. Our only complaint was the difficulty of finding the restaurant. Although there are lights to illuminate the sign, they were not on and apparently never are. Not being familiar with the neighborhood, we drove around and around, finally parked and walked from Broadway up Antrim, then stopped to ask a passerby if she knew where it was. She pointed across the street. We still hadn't seen it! Would definitely return to this welcoming and fun spot with great food, especially now that we know where it is!Parking: We were lucky finally to find a space on Broadway, close to Antrim, and had roughly a 5 minute walk to the restaurant.“

“Every single thing we ate was delicious! The scallops were perfect, which I rarely get the chance to say. The steak was amazing. The appetizers, from the burrata to the oysters were all fresh and delectable. The drinks were on point, the service top notch, it's a beautiful spot with three different, equally as comfortable dining areas. Have been twice now, and will definitely be back when we are in the area.“

“I accidentally came across Falafel Mom’s location and owner this morning. It wasn’t opened yet and I asked her questions about the menu. Very helpful. I returned after shopping and ordered a falafel lamb wrap to go. While waiting for “made to order wrap” Falafel Mom gave me a spot of hot black Arabic tea. So thoughtful and good. The wrap was absolutely delicious!!! Ya gotta give this eatery a try!“

“This is a foodie lover’s paradise. Beautiful bar, thoughtfully curated cocktails, unique wine list, upbeat and feel good music in the background. This is the kind of spot you could easily spend hours in and not even realize. We started with an eggplant dish that blew us away: crispy, with mint and labneh. For our mains, my fiancé ordered a tarte flambée pizza and I had the chicken kebab, both from the daily specials list. The chicken was succulent and the pizza had just the right balance of ingredients. Enjoy your perch at the bar, take it all in, and let the welcoming staff be your guides. I will be back! One good thing to note: this establishment does not accept AMEX.Parking: The restaurant has validation for the Tufts lot. There is also ample street parking.“

“They added a self order kiosk right when you walk in so saves time from waiting in line to order. Best part is still being able to get your own sauce so you can get a variety or a little bit of each one for enhanced flavor. They always keep it clean inside and the sauce counters are always clean.“

“I went on a date to Sorellina, and it totally lived up to my up-scale restaurant expectations. The place had this classy vibe that commanded respect, from the décor to the overall ambiance. Everyone seemed to be having a good time, enjoying the light music and the buzz of conversation. The service was very attentive to our every need. For dinner, I ordered the saltimbocca, which was veal wrapped in prosciutto, served with maitake mushrooms and truffle whipped potatoes. It was cooked to perfection and super tender, but I couldn't help thinking that the portion could've been a bit more generous, given the price. My date went for the Mafaldine, a pasta dish with shiitake and oyster mushrooms, black truffle butter, and Parmigiano. She couldn't stop raving about how amazing the mushrooms were and how this dish easily became one of her favorites. No doubt, I'll be heading back to Sorellina for more. But next time, I'll be keeping a closer eye on portion sizes and the price tag.“

“Can't think of a thing on the menu that's not authentic tasting and delicious. If you go definitely order the Moussaka. It comes in a baked dish, the custard like flavor and spices used are so delicious. Also just the basic Greek potatoes are very good with a little bit of a lemon taste. Chicken any way they cook it is also good.Vegetarian options: The Mediterranean salad is excellent. Also you can order things like the Greek potatoes, spanikopita and baklava.“

“We took a friend to Mistral to celebrate his birthday tonight and our waiter, Leni, made the evening so special! He was very attentive but let us set the pace, he was always available to attend to our needs but we never felt rushed. He recognized that we were celebrating a birthday and had a dessert sent to our table, complete with a candle, so that we could celebrate in style. The food and drinks were prepared to perfection, as always, but it was Leni who truly made the night special for us. I highly recommend Mistral for special occasions, as well as weeknight dining (their pizzas are awesome) and highly commend Leni for his superb service.“

“The menu is quite expansive, so this is a good catering option. I love middle eastern/Mediterranean food, so I’ve tried a lot of different places in Boston. Compared to other places, I wouldn’t say Sultana’s makes the cut for my favorites, but it wasn’t bad.- Spinach feta quiche: The portion size is good, but the flavor was bland. I wasn’t able to finish it.- Cookies: The cookies weren’t overly sweet, which I liked. They were crumbly yet soft.- Fruit yogurt pastry: This was my favorite. I liked that they are bite-sized (though, this is also dangerous because you’ll end up eating a lot). The pastry was flaky, and the yogurt was sweet, which balanced the tartness of the fruits.- Caprice acma: I wasn’t a fan of this. The acma was too doughy. Maybe it would have tasted better warm.Happy to have tried a new place, but I probably wouldn’t come back.“

“What I really like this place, is that it is all about the food and the college kids. When I went to college, which was a long time ago, it was all about value meals. Lots of food and well priced and this place delivers. Although the name is Crispy Crepes, they also have a really good selection of Mediterranean Plates, like falafel, shawarma and more. My mushroom, ham and cheese was good. Both the ham and mushroom were really fresh and you can tell that they were nice and fresh ingredients. The cheese, may have been the Velveeta kind, but I do believe that it made for a great combination with the ham and mushrooms, because it melted well in your mouth. My wife loved her Chicken Shawarma sandwich, which also had very flavorful and nice combination of ingredients. What she liked the most is how they press the pita sandwich, so that it comes out nice and crunchy. My daughter loved her Nutella/Chocolate Crepe, she said that there was plenty of it inside the crepe and the whipped cream was like icing on the cake. Service was fast, again, this is a college place and I think that this is being run to serve food fast and cater to the college crowd that keeps coming in and out. Parking can be challenging, because this is on Commonwealth Avenue a few blocks away from Kenmore Square. We got lucky, because it was Sunday and during Spring Break weekend and not sure about how the rest of the week would look like, but if you live in the area and you want a quick bite, this place is good. The place may need a bit of updating, but as I said in the beginning, this is about food and college kids. Great value for our meal and definitely one that we will come back, when we are in the area! Cheers!“

The food is cooked to perfection and they take pride in how they serve their customers. The crew who work there are all top notch, they take notice of frequent flyers and treat you as a friend when you walk in the door. “I stopped in for a quick take away smoothie which turned into also getting a sandwich! They are def a quality shop. Lot of other reviews comment on the price, which is why you get what you pay for. I got the chocolate smoothie which was delicious, the worker in there explained they use natural ingredients, etc and it tasted pure. I dropped it accidentally and they made a new one quickly and would not let me help clean. Very great service! The chicken shawarma sandwich was a special and it was so good. “My friend and I were craving Mediterranean food, so we decided to try Sufra - and it did not disappoint. Being from the Mediterranean myself, I am usually very critical of Mediterranean food, but this was truly amazing. Everything was so good, and I have to say the highlight of the meal was the baba ganoush and the shawarma. I had not had good shawarma in Boston until I tried Sufra's - it tasted so authentic and just like home! And the baba ganoush was to die for - the flavor was perfect. The staff are friendly, the food came quick, the portions are huge and the food is also decently priced. I had a very positive experience in Sufra - I will definitely be returning soon and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic Mediterranean meal.“

“Love the huge selection of vegetarian and vegan options, but they also offer a variety of meat dishes for those who prefer that. I started with the falafel wrap and am looking forward to working my way through the veggie options. Falafel is served in a long, relatively thin wrap as opposed to a pita pouch. Makes a great, easy to-go option you could eat while you walk.“

“Upon entering, the aroma of exotic spices and freshly baked bread wafts through the air, awakening your senses and igniting your appetite. The décor is a fusion of modern elegance and traditional charm, with intricately designed carpets adorning the floors and soft, ambient lighting casting a golden glow over the space. But it is the menu that truly steals the show. Bursting with an array of authentic Middle Eastern dishes, each offering is a masterpiece crafted with precision and passion. Begin your culinary adventure with an assortment of mezes, from creamy hummus and smoky baba ghanoush to crispy falafel and tangy tabbouleh, each bite bursting with flavor and freshness. For the main course, prepare to be transported to the streets of Beirut or the markets of Marrakech with an array of mouthwatering options. Indulge in tender lamb kebabs, succulent shawarma, or fragrant tagines, each dish a symphony of spices and textures that dance on your palate. No Middle Eastern feast would be complete without a sweet finale, and DARNA certainly delivers on that front. From decadent kunafa dripping with honey and nuts to creamy, rose-scented rice pudding, each dessert is a celebration of indulgence and tradition.“

“Trade is a chic Greek restaurant in the heart of Boston, very close to South Station. This place has a classy vibe to it. The staff is friendly and our server was polite, patient, and explained the menu well. He also proactively suggested specials. We asked to be seated at a different table and the staff made the change without any fuss which is not the case at many restaurants. The baked feta was delicious and one of the best baked fetas I've ever had! Charred eggplant and pita & maze were good too. I'll especially mention the tzatziki sauce, which was absolutely mouth watering! We ate this as part of the pita & meze but ask for this sauce on the side even if you don't order the meze. Loved trying the mastiha drink - don't go by the clear look of the spirit, it's not for the faint hearted! I ordered the flight which comprised mastiha and 2 brandies. Brandy was average and would recommend skipping the flight and going for mastiha straight. Overall, it's a bougie restaurant that offers a lot both for the palette and for the 'Gram. I give 4 stars because the bathroom wasn't as clean as you'd expect from a high end establishment.“

“My friend and I were looking for a spot to get some dinner before a Celtics game and we were walking by New York Shawarma Guys on the way to the arena and decided to go there. We were there under an hour before tip off and it wasn’t overly busy which was nice!I ordered the lamb shawarma wrap and forgot to ask for it to be spicy, but they gave me some hot sauce on the side. The wrap was made very quickly and was tasty with a good portion of lamb. It was a pretty big wrap and left me feeling full by the time I finished it. The beef in my buddy’s falafel and beef shawarma wrap had some pieces that were pretty tough, but the shawarma wraps were good overall. When I asked about the deal that I saw on a sign out front to get a drink for free when you order a Shawarma wrap, I was told that that was just for lunch but I could grab a can of soda anyway, which was really kind of them. The service was great!Hard to beat for $12 each downtown Boston! I’ll be back!“
