We finally stopped by to try it and all I can say is I don't understand why it’s not packed like every other place on W Broadway. The food was so good and what made the experince incredible was the warmth and hospitality from who I can only assume was the owner. “We stopped in at the Playwright in Boston to have a meal and watch the Patriots Football game. They were playing the NY Jets. We arrived around 645pm and we were greeted at our table by a lovely waitress, Rachel. She brought over our waters and chatted with us a bit about the drinks and we all ordered some drinks and a couple of apps. The music was lively but once the game started, it was just the game audio until the game went to commercial then they would play music again. We ordered food and everyone was happy with their choices. Since we were watching the game we ordered dessert, hot tea and coffee. Rachel was great about checking on our table often and kept us hydrated and fed. I would go back!! Ask for Rachel!!“

“Everybody needs to have a great dive bar. THIS IS IT! Long bar with comfy stools. Lots of seating and standing room along the other side of the room. Limited (but too limited) selection of beers and alcohol which makes it easy to pick one without taking too much time. Bar staff have been around and seen some shit and they aren't going to put up with you're bullshit. They are very nice and super efficient, but they have people to serve. The prices are GREAT, incredible for downtown Boston. I love everything about this place.“

“1 thing about the place is, the drinks aren't cheap.
Compared to some places going at 16 to 18
This place is going at 22. All before tax and tips.
Now what makes this place special.
The effort. Most drinks are nicely presented and decorated. The drinks are not the highest in ABV but not low as well. Average of the 4 drinks I had, will put them around 18% to 20%.

The ambience is amazing. Truly a realm of dark arts.
The problem is, they have a small space and you might and will wait for a seat.
And is worth it.
I waited for 30mins. No regrets.“

Reservations highly encouraged, but our timing worked out perfectly and we got two seats at the bar! “I had my Daughter’s bridal shower at the Long Cross. The staff were so helpful and accommodating. The venue provided linens and flowers for the tables. We had complete use of the back part of the restaurant and patio. They allowed us to set up a balloon arch and backdrop for pictures, and several tables for displays and games. The food was great and the price was reasonable. I would recommend having your party or shower there.“
