“Really good Chinese food and quick for pick up“

“Westbound, hungry, and driving through an unusually slow traffic, it was only a matter of time before my itching fingers and fiendishly famished stomach determined the next course of action. Swerved off the next exit, pulled up a list of nearby restaurants, rerouted, and floored it. Fudge it. Hungry. Don’t care. Hungry. Just drive like another M@$$hole and get this nonsense over with.

U Dumpling House had immediately caught my attention. I couldn’t recall where I had read about it but it was positive. Now that it’s just a few minutes away from where I was, why the heck not? Dimsum and soup dumplings? Can’t go wrong right? Then again, I don’t ever remember anyone this hungry complain about anything in the moment until *way* after the meal…

So I rapidly ordered away like it was my last meal before I met my maker. Stuck to the usual choices to see their take on classic dim sum dishes. Best part? Food didn’t take long at all to trickle in straight from the kitchen (no dim sum cart here, as expected).

While the preparation was slightly different from what I’ve been accustomed to for the last few decades, I found their style both pleasant and tasty. At least, most of it was…and I would have given them 5 stars easily if it wasn’t for a few missteps that I can’t let slide.

Dry Sautéed String Beans. As good as your version is…the word “dry” means a particular technique that does not involve blanching the beans. I expected something but received something else. That one step has a different texture and matters to those who know this dish well. Moreover, I expected the soup dumplings, which you are famous for, to stand out. I can’t say it did and that’s me being nice.

Anyways, I definitely recommend anyone in the immediate area craving Chinese food or dim sum to at least try them out once. You may end up being one of those several regulars there that day that obviously frequent this place.“

Some favorites have been Magnolia wings with a sweet spicy sauce, crab rangoons, house beef roll (which is tender beef wrapped in a scallion pancake -- a must try!) and steamed spicy wontons in peanut sauce. Mandarin Cafe is a hidden gem of a restaurant. The quality of food is great and the portion sizes are generous and the ingredients are top-notch.

Lately we have been ordering the Veggie Dumplings and the Kung Pao Tofu. The dishes are an absolute treat.

The restaurant itself is just a small kitchen with a few tables and chairs - you do get to see the chefs hard at work behind the counter.

“Waaaay too hot to cook today! We had a family gathering and no one really wanted to put time in the kitchen. New Rose Garden to the rescue! They took our large order and carefully made sure to get it right as well as make an ingredient accommodation on one of the items. When we arrived to pick up our order we were greeted with BIG smiles, and they boxed up our order to make it easier to carry (VERY thoughtful). The restaurant itself is not fancy, but comfortable looking. folks can grab a drink at the bar and play Keno. There are booths and some tables. The aroma of Pu Pu Platter items filled our car and made for a mouth watering drive to our relative's house! Good thing we put the boxed food in the back of our SUV. The food didn't disappoint! My family really enjoyed the PU PU items as well as the rice orders and dishes. We enjoyed the Ginger String Beans, Beef with Peppers and Chicken and Broccoli. The food was flavorful, fresh, quite yummy! The two ladies working the front of the restaurant are gems! They are genuinely happy, thoughtful, and kind. All in all a deliciously good decision“

It's a family-owned establishment with phenomenal food that consistently delivers the same delicious flavor. I've been a customer for over 15 years. “We love going in to visit with , Ming , the bartender on Tuesday nights . Because of his exceptional service we have gone a few other nights . All the bartenders are super friendly and fun ! Our favorite dishes , thus far , have been the Singapore rice noodles and the garlic veggie dish . We heard the house rice is great . The bar is full of friendly locals looking to talk and have a good time . We can’t say enough about this place .“

If you want spice, order the authentic Sezchuan style dishes and make sure to order rice with them. Their American style Chinese dishes are all as good as any other American Chinese options I have ever had. Their house specials are a favorite. Their crab rangoons hit the spot and are generous quantity for the cost.

Don't use a delivery service for any restaurant in Stow or you will be disappointed. This is part of the Stow experience. Order pick up and you'll be fine.“
