“Stopped in for some delicious sushi and chicken katsu, we also ordered the calamari which was fried perfectly and had a nice crispy outside.

The chicken katsu is cooked perfectly, crunchy outside and tasty inside but not dry. The sushi is amazing, I had the spicy tuna which had a good kick to it and the daily special which was the Goldfish Roll today. GOLDFISH ROLL WAS AMAZING!! “I stopped in with friends before a event Sunday evening. The staff was warm and welcoming. I had the lentil sambusas and a peanut-infused coffee at the staff’s recommendation. The food was fast and delicious- the sambusas were warm and spicy, and the peanut coffee was delicious! In a kind gesture, the chef sent over a sampling of sushi to our table. Fresh and refreshing, the sushi was a nice complement to my sambusas and hot beverage. I’m not on this side of town often, but now I have a reason to come back.“

“This is my go-to poke bowl spot whenever I visit my parents in Rockville, and honestly, I feel like it’s a bit underrated because it’s so damn good. The salmon is always incredibly fresh, and I love pairing it with imitation crab.

My usual toppings are scallions, sesame seeds, sweet onions, mixed greens, spinach, lettuce, seaweed salad (a must), sweet corn, edamame, cucumbers, cilantro, masago, and sweet egg. The portions are generous, the flavors are consistently great, and the price is very fair for the quality you get.

Definitely one of my favorite poke spots in the area!“

“I ordered the pork katsu curry and it was perfect. The katsu was crisped just right—golden and crunchy on the outside while still tender inside. The curry itself was thick and savory with a deep, comforting flavor, and it had plenty of pork pieces, which made it feel really filling. The rice balanced everything out perfectly and soaked up the sauce so well.

The place was pretty busy, but we got lucky and found a table. It’s clearly popular, and after eating here, it makes sense why. Despite the crowd, the staff was fast and efficient with getting food out, which I really appreciated.

Service stood out too—everyone was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. One small detail I liked was the waitress complimenting my rose pink debit card, which just added a nice personal touch to the experience.

“Food is good. They unfortunately charge extra for some toppings which is not stated on their physical menu. I was told I can choose my toppings at the end while the chef prepared my meal. When I got to the end they told me, adding an egg would be extra even though the egg is listed as a topping choice on the page where it asks you to choose between a Teriyaki bowl or a bento box.“

“I came to Kusshi with my mom over the weekend, and we both loved it!
The atmosphere was excellent, with all of the walls being decorated with murals and music playing. It was also well cleaned and all of the tables were set nicely. Our server was also very nice and fast with our service!
We ordered the Shrimp Shumai, which is always a favorite of mine at any sushi restaurant, as well as the Cherry Blossom Roll and the Pinstripe Roll. All of the food was delicious and the perfect amount for the two of us.
I would absolutely recommend checking Kusshi out for good sushi, and I will definitely be coming back!“

“No frills hole in a wall place. Great and welcoming staff. Great service. First time here and I got the spring garden roll and my friend and I split the green bamboo roll. One of the only places that I have been too that offers more than 1 type of veggie roll; plenty of veggie maki rolls. Rolls are large and they are generous with the filling and toppings. Got a bottled green tea. They do not serve alcohol. They accept credit card. I will absolutely be returning and telling everyone I know about this place. Next to Great shopping and there is plenty of parking!

One suggestion is to have a bottle of Sriracha on hand just to add a bit of spice to the veggie rolls.“

“This place was an amazing find. We had 5 or 6 rolls and they were all really, really good. The pricing is excellent, especially compared to some of the other sushi places we frequent. It's a small space and we sat at the bar, but it makes up for mediocre atmosphere with great food and service. If they offered an IPA their score would be even higher. We will definitely be back. Oh, and there is plenty of free surface parking, super easy.“

“One of my favorite local businesses. Staff is always super friendly, cheerful, and accommodating. I’m a creature of habit and drop in there maybe once a week - sometimes less, sometimes more. I always order the same dish, and they wave as I come in the front door and start working on my order even before I get to the register. Just wonderful folks.“

“Omg- we came here last minute for my daughter’s 10th birthday. I called and asked if I can bring cake with us and they said yes! We showed up around 8pm and was welcomed with open arms. Immediately sat. The atmosphere is so cute. I can’t believe Starbucks used to be here.
Our server Ruth took great care of us and took special care of the birthday girl. The food was very fresh and delicious. The drinks were tasty too! “I have nothing but good things to say about Gourmet Asian Bistro (7224 Muncaster Mill Rd, Derwood, MD 20855). It offers Chinese, Thai, and sushi. I've eaten there 3 times in the past 2 weeks, and it's been excellent every time and affordable! The vegetable tofu soup ($2.95) is huge, satisfying, and full of veggies. The wonton soup ($2.95) has 3 good sized wontons. Both soups come with a bowl of tastier-than-average fried wonton strips on the side that I end up munching on during the entire meal. The sizzling black pepper beef ($16.95?) was tasty, but I was more impressed by the noodle dishes. The beef chow fun ($14.95?) and the Singapore mei fun ($13.95) were beautifully seasoned and cooked perfectly. I've also gotten the salmon nigiri ($5.95?) a couple times, and it's generously portioned and fresh with great quality salmon. Every meal ends with a complimentary tiny scoop of vanilla ice cream and fortune cookie. There are plenty of good Chinese restaurants in MoCo, but Gourmet Asian Bistro is my current favorite for best flavor and value.“

“Tried Kusshi in Bethesda recently and overall had a really good experience. The restaurant has a modern atmosphere without feeling too loud or crowded, and the location in Woodmont Triangle makes it a nice spot for dinner before walking around downtown after. Sushi tasted fresh and presentation was really well done. You can tell they pay attention to quality instead of just rushing plates out.

We ordered a mix of rolls, appetizers, and drinks and honestly everything came out pretty quickly. The crispy rice and specialty rolls were probably my favorite part of the meal. Staff was friendly and checked in often without hovering too much which I appreciated.

Prices are definitely on the higher side compared to casual sushi spots, but that’s kind of expected for the area and quality level. Overall a really solid place for date night, dinner with friends, or just when you want sushi that feels a little more upscale than average.“
