“A very nice hidden gem. The age tofu was a little overcooked, and the sauce was weak, but the sushi was fresh and the rice cooked well (firm yet soft and nicely seasoned). The miso soup was rich as well. The waitress was very friendly and patient and the restaurant peaceful. I ate very well.“

“Hi - I had the spicy tuna roll. The tuna tasted fresh - as I had expected, being that I might have been the first customer of the day. So everything was fresh. But it was the texture of the rice that threw things off for me. I wasn't expecting the rice to taste so bland, and even though tightly rolled, it still lacked the density I am accustomed to. I'll be back to try other items. The young men were friendly and efficient.“

“It's a small place in the food court Wheaton shopping center, so expect noise during lunch times and busy times over weekend. Food itself is quite good, with large portions.
If you are around it's a solid spot for lunch or takeout dinner.

“Amazing! The sushi tasting menu was exceptional and filling! Delicious and whimsical cocktails. Bar in the back, very hip and chic workout being pretentious. Wagyu beef skewers from the bar was one of the best things I’ve ever had. All the skewers were amazing and the fried chicken and other bar snacks are classic bar foods, but way elevated- can not wait for the rest of the space to open!“

“I stopped in with friends before a event Sunday evening. The staff was warm and welcoming. I had the lentil sambusas and a peanut-infused coffee at the staff’s recommendation. The food was fast and delicious- the sambusas were warm and spicy, and the peanut coffee was delicious! In a kind gesture, the chef sent over a sampling of sushi to our table. Fresh and refreshing, the sushi was a nice complement to my sambusas and hot beverage. I’m not on this side of town often, but now I have a reason to come back.“

“Came for the happy hour and it did not disappoint. The first 12 in line get to sit for the happy hour. The line hit 12 by 4:35ish this past Friday.

It was all delicious but favorites were the habanero scallop, fatty tuna & scallion, and king salmon.“

“Discovered this place by accident while on the Crescent trail, and oh my what a happy coincidence. This is by far (!) the best sushi that I’ve had so far in DC: the rice is well cooked and seasoned, it sticks well to the sushi but at the same time is spread very thinly (a hallmark of a good place), and the rolls are so full of filling that they look like they’re bursting. The fish is fresh and flavourful. The price is more than reasonable (around 12 to 15 dollars for a dish). The owner/cook is obviously extremely competent and very fast in preparing your order. Fantastic place, I have to come back here as soon as I can.“

The service was incredible; the servers were so kind and listened to every request. “We have now been dining at Poke Bowl at least once a week for just over three years. When you come to Poke Bowl you are welcomed by the friendly staff and you are entering one of the cleanest establishments my husband and I have ever experienced. Combine that with absolutely delicious food and you have a dining experience you will want to enjoy very frequently. We have brought family members and every guest who comes to visit to enjoy this excellent restaurant. And we have been treated as friends always. “This place was amazing!! My husband and I have been to the AMC movie theater a couple times at this mall and have seen this sushi place and have wanted to try it. It was better than expected. All 4 sushi rolls were great, Wagyu beef fried rice: AMAZING, and also had 2 different Sakes that were delicious. The inside of the restaurant is my dream decor and you can’t even tell you’re in a mall. Our waiter was so helpful and nice and the owner/manager of the restaurant came to talk to us and told us that not many people know they are there. “My staple sushi place in western MD, often outshined by Maki across the street imo Niwano Hana has amazing choices for vegetarian people w extensive veg options that are not just a cucumber avocado roll but actually rolls that have effort and creativity put into it. “Had a perfect time with my wife. Had the nigiri and hand roll omakase and loved it. Super fresh sushi and excellent preparation. Better quality and taste, and a way better value than other top spots like nakazawa and sushi taro. Will be back and highly recommend if you are really into great sushi“

“I ordered the pork katsu curry and it was perfect. The katsu was crisped just right—golden and crunchy on the outside while still tender inside. The curry itself was thick and savory with a deep, comforting flavor, and it had plenty of pork pieces, which made it feel really filling. The rice balanced everything out perfectly and soaked up the sauce so well.

The place was pretty busy, but we got lucky and found a table. It’s clearly popular, and after eating here, it makes sense why. Despite the crowd, the staff was fast and efficient with getting food out, which I really appreciated.

Service stood out too—everyone was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. One small detail I liked was the waitress complimenting my rose pink debit card, which just added a nice personal touch to the experience.

Another bonus is the location—it’s right under a Japanese grocery store, which makes it super convenient if you want to grab anything before or after your meal.

The wall menu showed with many photos. There are booths and tables for indoor seating. The wait time from order paid to pickup was around five minutes. The chicken gyoza was another good choice, with crisp bottoms and a savory filling. I liked that the menu had more than just sushi, so there were plenty of options for the table. Service was pleasant, although things slowed down a little once the restaurant became busier. Overall, a satisfying Japanese meal in Bethesda.“
