“I have been going to Tom and Rays since the old location. What makes them stand out is the cost conscience menu, fresh tasting food, and a staff mostly local high school kids that are professional with can do attitude. Right now I’m raving about something as simple as stewed tomatoes as a complementary side dish. Their breakfast foods including creamed chipped beef fresh. Their lunch and dinner foods bring you back, especially the open faced beef sandwich with mash potatoes and gravy, to a simpler time. Check out their menu and ask them about their pies.“

“Booking Sage Cakery to make our wedding cake was one of the highlights of the wedding. As someone that loves cakes, I was so looking forward to trying Sage on my wedding day and I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of their cakes. My husband generally doesn’t like cake as much, but even he loved the ones they made for us. The blackberry sage was a huge hit, and the decoration on the cake could not have been more stunning. It was exactly what we asked for and more. They worked with us too to add a topper my mom made for us and it looked perfect on top of the beautiful cake. We can’t wait to get another cake from them on our anniversary!“

Over lunch, my wife and I usually start talking about our weekend maybe taking a drive, doing some sightseeing, finding a nice coffee shop, or simply enjoying some quiet time together.

Somehow, our weekend often begins right here.

Of course we love the food, but what keeps us coming back is the warmth, familiarity, and kindness. Sometimes a favorite restaurant becomes more than a place to eat it becomes part of your life and your memories.

“Firehouse Deli, as the name suggests, is 🔥🔥. Large vegan selection and portions, but they also have plenty of meat options. Pictured are the vegan corned beef Reuben and the vegan thai chicken wrap. My goal is to try everything on the vegan menu at some point! They also have a breakfast menu from 8am-11am. Finally, I want to point out when you order something vegan, they circle the V. I really appreciate that because I'm sure it helps to avoid mix ups in the kitchen. Glad this deli exists since many other delis have limited vegan game.“

“I have nothing but good things to say about Gourmet Asian Bistro (7224 Muncaster Mill Rd, Derwood, MD 20855). It offers Chinese, Thai, and sushi. I've eaten there 3 times in the past 2 weeks, and it's been excellent every time and affordable! The vegetable tofu soup ($2.95) is huge, satisfying, and full of veggies. The wonton soup ($2.95) has 3 good sized wontons. Both soups come with a bowl of tastier-than-average fried wonton strips on the side that I end up munching on during the entire meal. The sizzling black pepper beef ($16.95?) was tasty, but I was more impressed by the noodle dishes. The beef chow fun ($14.95?) and the Singapore mei fun ($13.95) were beautifully seasoned and cooked perfectly. I've also gotten the salmon nigiri ($5.95?) a couple times, and it's generously portioned and fresh with great quality salmon. Every meal ends with a complimentary tiny scoop of vanilla ice cream and fortune cookie.
