“We love prigels so much. We go every week! Not only are the staff SO friendly but it’s family owed business and you definitely feel that love. We had a dog that was crossing the rainbow bridge so I went there to pick up some ice cream as a treat. The girl working saw me sobbing, asked and then paid for the ice cream out of her own pocket. Literally. Pulled her wallet out and paid for it. Just a small prime example as to why they’re the best!”

“Just discovered a gem nearby. I ate at Kandahar on 36th Street. It is owned by the previous general manager of The Helmand. What a delight. Most reasonable prices and the food was excellent. The last few times I went to the downtown location it wasn't as good, I now know why. If you haven't been there, I promise, you won't be disappointed. 5 stars”

“I just have to share the fantastic experience we had tonight. My husband and I went to The Local around 6:30 pm (prime time without reservations lol). The only available seats were a high top table in the bar area. They asked us if that was ok and we said “sure”. Within a minute or so after being seated, it became apparent that our vision of a nice relaxing dinner would be impossible in that room. The Preakness was about to begin, and that bar was loud and hopping! Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining, I love to see people enjoying themselves. It was a party, but just wasn’t our vibe tonight. We decided we would go elsewhere. We politely informed the hostess that we were going to leave because it was just a tad too noisy, but that we would definitely return again soon. We stressed that we were not mad, or upset. As we were walking to our car, a very nice gentleman followed us out and asked if we would consider returning if they could sit us elsewhere. We said “Of course!” We didn’t think there were any other available tables, but he said they would work something out for us. We told him we didn’t expect them to go out of their way for us and that we could wait. Within five minutes, we were seated at a lovely table in the dining room. We later learned the gentleman that helped us was none other than the owner/ executive chef Zack. We went on to have a delicious dinner with the most attentive and charming server. They demonstrated exemplary customer service, which sadly is lacking in many other establishments. We weren’t expecting any special treatment, but they certainly went above and beyond for us, and it was very much appreciated! When we were leaving, Zack happened to be outside, so he made sure to ask how our experience was. We told him it was amazing, and that his restaurant has been one of our favorites since it opened. We told him we would be back soon. Our experience there tonight is just one of many examples why this restaurant stands out, and why we will always highly recommend them! Thank you all so much for proving customer service is not a dying art!”

Gorgeous and relaxing ambience, incredibly friendly staff, delicious food and a wonderful vibe.

As an added benefit, if you like Everton FC, it also doubles as a fan pub.

Definitely recommend if you’re in the Hamden area.”

“I usually don’t eat Indian food, too spicy, but the ambassador makes the food just perfect for my taste. Special occasions when the mood is right, we go to the ambassador for that special taste of Indian cuisine. I’ve been going to the ambassador for the last 20 years. Today I drove 28 miles from home just to enjoy dinner at this great restaurant. Thank you for the good food and good service.”

“I dined there for the first time tonight, and I was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is quaint, cozy, and perfectly decorated. The first two drinks that I got were absolutely amazing, as they were custom-made. We also tried a flight of tequila, which was also very delicious. We both got an entrée each, and got nachos and queso. It was all absolutely delicious. The waitress kept coming back to check on us and was very attentive. Thank you for a lovely evening. Despite the heavy crowds, there manages to always be a seat for my party, the employees are fantastic, and the food continues to be delicious.

Kyle had a big personality and was very pleasant.

Collectively, we ordered the following.
HH-House Wine (White) - Amazing as usual.
HH-House Wine (Red/ White) - Refreshing
Broccoli - Came out cold, sent back for hot broccoli.
HH-Steamed Shrimp - Plentiful and yum.
HH-Grilled Lamb Chops - Tender, well plated, savory.
HH-Thai Chili Wings - Amazing flavor, great texture and temp.
Fries - Ok. Room temp.
HH- Spinach and Artichoke Dip - Very good. Plentiful.

Yup, I'll surely return to hang out w the future if tomorrow.”
