“I had Ethiopian cuisine on my bucket list for real long time, but since I couldn't find much time to visit any Ethiopian restaurant in New York city, I decided to go ahead with the one in Washington DC!Initially, I was a bit hesitant to order the meat dishes since my last adventure with African cuisine wasn't a great one. Glad that Ethiopians have a good amount of vegetables in their diet which helped me make a safe and easy choice to go with!I went ahead with their traditional veggie platter, which consisted of 2 vegetables, 2 lentil dishes and a salad served over Injera( basically the Ethiopian version of dosa: An Indian dish and a much softer one instead of crispy). The vegetables served were cluster beans along with cabbage and potato. The cluster beans felt right out of my home kitchen whereas the potato was undercooked in the cabbage one! The two lentil dishes served out of which one was the spicy one and the other not spicy. I loved both of them. Honestly, I never thought it would be so close to traditional Indian cuisine as a result I also let the server know the same. The server was pretty friendly and was happy to guide me through their menu while providing quick service. The restaurant though feels like a homely vibe with close seating and the ambiance being that of a family home.Overall, an amazing experience for me with interesting thing being it felt like having a home cooked meal rather than eating at a restaurant!“
“I thought that for the price, the food and service were very good. I appreciated that they were able to accommodate a walk-in for weekend brunch. The hostess was very polite and the servers were very attentive. The restaurant was very clean, including the bathrooms which were very nice compared to a lot of restaurants in DC. For a restaurant I had not heard of prior to visiting, I was pleasantly surprised!“
“EJ was incredibly nice and helpful, all the drinks were fantastic, and the atmosphere was fun and welcoming. Dan was exceptionally polite and crafted excellent drinks. Despite our large group, we were served in a timely manner and with great attention, had an amazing night!“
“DCFray Volleyball is awesome! Great atmosphere, facilities (including refs!) and organization. Shout-out to William Dennis who helped us with signing up for a more competitive league, without whom we would have left to play in other leagues. Shows that he cares for the teams that play in them“
“JUST INCREDIBLEGreat concept with the way around drinks. You will be given a card which is linked to your Dankort. Then you put this card on at one of the 99 taps (beer, wine, shots, cider, soft drinks). Then you draw according to how many Cl you put in the glass.Their portions of food are large. Pizza super delicious. TRY THEIR MOZZARELLA STICK!“
“Absolutely outstanding. Cannot recommend The Little Grand highly enough. Their pizza is the best in the DC area and their service and atmosphere are incredible as well. Straightforward and thoughtful menu and the staff are more than happy to help you determine the best options for your taste, just ask. Cocktails are awesome and the wine list is focused and always interesting. Definitely check it out.Parking: Always parking available on the side streets.Kid-friendliness: Great with kids. Very welcoming atmosphere for families, especially early in the evening.“
“This place defines the word community. I don’t come to places twice when in DC. This has become an exception to the rule now. The owners made me feel like old friends. The staff are courtesy and professional. I had an amazing coffee. Great beer the night before and watched the WNBA playoffs. I also watched the owner serve her community when someone most bars would throw out came in then one of the owners got up and got this lady some soda. Little things like this are impressive - yes this is a bar, but it is true community demonstrated live and In person.“
“What a gem! Went with two girlfriends, we spent a fantastic evening. Comfy, service was wonderful, and food might be the best Ethiopian I’ve had after living in Silver Spring for twenty years.Definitely worth the little detour from the main drag!“
“I have been to Royal Sands a few times before for dinner and drinks and always had a great time, great food, and great drinks, but I want to specifically highlight their event capabilities. My husband and I are leaving DC after almost a decade and wanted to throw a party with our friends. Fritz responded to my inquiry so quickly and easily set us up with a space for fifty people at a bar. There was no reservation fee, no minimum, and our friends could all open individual tabs, which made the event so stress free! Our communication with Fritz throughout the planning process was flawless, not that there was much to do on our end since they did just about everything for us!The actual day of went wonderfully. A hostess took us right up, introduced us to our bartender Ryan, and then a manager welcomed us as well. As our friends filtered in, Ryan kept up with drink orders without a problem, and food orders seemed to be brought to the right people very quickly. At the end of our booked time there was absolutely no rush to go, and we did stay a few more hours. The Mission Group restaurants have always been impressive with crowds, but this experience just solidified how great they are at hosting events! We had such a great time and it was the perfect way to say goodbye to DC!“
“When you think of a speakeasy… this place looks like what comes to mind. Down a flight of stairs leading to oversized doors you find yourself stepping back in time and greeted by a skilled bartender sporting a handlebar mustache. Great for an after dinner drink or to just hang out with friends.“
“My first time here. It's been a while since I had been out so for water me and my friends came here. The ambiance is cute. Very barrel like place. Especially if you are a whiskey drinker. The bottomless mimosas were a hit. Our waiter Mason was awesome. He assisted us with our many dietary restrictions lol. The manager even came over and chatted with us. I would definitely come back. Oh and we finished brunch off with a whiskey flight!!!! Yes a good time was had by ALL......“
“Food is great. I had the chicken Ramen and was surprised to see a full leg quarter in it! Very delicious. Also had the Brussel Sprouts and they were good. And don’t forget the Peach Green Tea *chefs kiss*. The wait was long but it was a Friday night. A small Bar downstairs that serves as a waiting “
“Tom’s Watch Bar is one of my favorite spots to go in the National Harbor! Shout out to our wonderful waiter Cam!!! Thank you for your amazing customer service and for making our experience at Tom’s wonderful! Highly recommend going to Tom’s you will always feel welcome and the food and drinks are delicious ? ?“
“We found this place on our way home searching for a place to get something to eat.We didn't know what to expect and we were very pleasantly surprised. The place is awesome. The food is excellent. The service is top tier.Parking: The lot is small but big enough for the place.Wheelchair accessibility: It's ground level.“
“The ingredients are top-notch, but if you like or are accustomed to picking up a slice of pizza with your hand, prepare to be disappointed and challenged here because the pies here are consistently limp amd soggy. I live across the street and the few times I have ordered takeout pizza from this place, I go home and finish cooking it in my own oven. It's pretty damn tasty afterwards too.“
“I've always wanted to try this bar ever since it opened. We came on a Saturday around 9:45/10pm (it closes at 11) and it was very lively! The bar itself is small so it may be hard to get the bartender's attention but when you do, they are very efficient and helpful. There's plenty of seating in the Bryant Street Market food hall, so you can take your drinks away from this boisterous end of the market if you want to have a quiet conversation. We only tried 2 drinks, the mezcal and regular tequila margaritas, on this visit. The menu looks intriguing and I'd want to come back to try a few of their more complex cocktails. The food bites looked good when others ordered them, but they did seem small so you might want to order more if you're hungry or check out other places in the market. They have a happy hour as well, so I'll have to make a return visit to check that out!“
“Incredible dive bar, very impressive beer list, free popcorn?? Very attentive and efficient service, bartender was 100% aware of what was up. Great ambience/vibes. Couldn't ask for more. 10/10 spot, would recommend to anyone for a quality beer an unpretentious night out. “
“We popped in to the Hawk n Dove after a busy morning touring the Capitol Building. We were greeted at the door in a reasonable amount of time. It looked like the restaurant was full, but they were able to get us a table near the kitchen - which is always fun since you can watch the buzz of the kitchen and wait staff hustling out all of the food orders. There is a lot going on here - busy bar, sports, news and trivia televised on screens above the bar. Witty T-shirts and memorabilia hanging on the walls. Generous portions, and upscale healthy food options in addition to the normal pub grub. We noticed that other tables had opted for salads and flatbreads so we did too. The personal sized flatbread was the perfect amount for one person. Nice combination of toppings and a warm soft crust. Salads were perfectly seasoned and dressed. Everyone in my party was happy with their lunches. Definitely would recommend.“
“This new bar in town is worth the hype. Everything on the menu is non-alcoholic, rivaling local wine menus at the largest and more expensive restaurants. They have a TV for those who love sports, and a family atmosphere ready for a friendly conversation. It’s the perfect date night spot, and Filipino owned and led.“
“Service was amazing when I went. I arrived literally at 10PM when their kitchen closed and my bartender still let me sneak an order of dumplings in. It was so worth it! My first time here and glad I found it. Cute cocktail bar with speakeasy-ish vibes with reasonable prices. Will def be back!“
“I like this fast causal style and the atmosphere of this restaurant. Service was quick and friendly. Food and drinks were delicious. I definitely want to go again!Update 3/25/24: I ordered shrimp mofongo and emapanadas for delivery and it was fresh, flavorful and hot!“
“Great atmosphere; the place gets busy at 7 and later, where it is bustling and great vibes even on a weekday. That’s when I would recommend coming here. Great service, our waiter checked on us very very often, and was attentive. Food was alright. The po boy was alright, wouldn’t order again. The brisket sandwich was really good though! Fries were soft, not crunchy, which I actually enjoyed but I know a lot of people don’t. Pecans brownie was soooooo good! Super warm and soft and strong chocolate, really generous on the pecans too! And a nice scoop of ice cream. Overall, if you come here I would come at 7 or later, get the brisket sandwich or smash burger and the pecan brownie.“
“This place is intoxicating!! The decor is very Gatsbyesque! Totally cool private gin club speakeasy vibe. Went here for after dinner drinks with my girlfriends and it really hit the mark! The cocktails were gorgeous and delicious! I recommend the Gimlet. Staff was attentive and knowledgeable. It was a perfect ending to our girls trip and I can't wait to bring my husband for date night!!! Highly recommend!“
“We have a complicated past with Roscoe's. We live just a block away in Old Town Takoma Park. When they opened we went there a couple of times and it was just plain bad. There were almost no toppings on the pizza and it was all pretty tasteless. So for the last more than a decade we've avoided them - which bummed me out. I love to support our local businesses but there have been, in the past, a few clunkers. And Roscoe's was yet another one. But the other day when I was walking my dog I thought, "Why do I always see people eating both indoors and outdoors there?" So I thought, "Well, let's give them another chance. Maybe they've change in over a decade!!" And have they ever. My husband and I had the Roasted Beet Salad, the Antica Pizza and the Siciliana White PIzza. It was all REALLY good. The Antica was a little greasy so I did some degreasing. The salad was perfect and substantial. The pizzas were really flavorful (with a lot of toppings) and the woodfired pizza was crispy and chewy. Just great. We'll definitely be back since we pretty much live right next door!“
“Not too welcoming in 2024, I applied there when they first came to the neighborhood . lot of white people, then I figured out why they didn't hire me you but you never know the Pearl and the oyster. I hope they change their practices. Expeditor could manage your time a little better especially when you got gumbo and salad, and then the barbecue comes out cold. It lessens the experience of having to take it home and warm it up. But those biscuits stop me in my tracks.“
“The food here is always great. I've been going for years, and not once been disappointed. They also have a great bar, where you can have a cocktail while you wait! I highly recommend their fish dishes.Vegetarian options: They offer a veggie plate.“
“This past weekend I hosted a birthday party at Mission Navy Yard. The staff was fantastic, providing my group with a private room, bartender, bathroom, and outside patio area. Mission Navy Yard responded to all emails and questions promptly and we experienced no issues throughout our experience. Would definitely recommend!“
“Great BBQ spot. If you like meat, I recommend the ribs or chicken. If you're on the vegetarian side of things the Mac and cheese and deviled eggs are also super tasty.Friendly down to earth staff. Great portions. It was a slow night but definitely seemed like a lively place and there was a space for live music in the basement.“
“My colleague lives in the area and invited me for a drink and I had never heard of the spot. It was chill around happy hour, kinda empty. Classic dive bar. The beer was cold. By the second drink the place started to fill and it seemed like the male/female ratio was very lopsided to the female persuasion and at first I was like “cool”, and then I reeeally took it all in and started to wonder if I was at a gay bar (which is still totally cool). Maybe it was the vendor selling “Dyke” merchandise, or the fact that for once I was able to enjoy a drink without being bothered by strangers or crowded by yuppies. Either way the atmosphere was conducive to minding my own business and having a good time. The outdoor area is great. The upstairs had vendors with various art and wares they made. I have since learned that the event was actually “Dew Drop’s Dyke Party”. I would gladly come to another Tuesday “Dyke Party” if it’s always so chill (albeit not very diverse). The downstairs also had a bar and around 8 there was Christmas-themed live music of the R&B/Soul/Jazz persuasion. This crowd was substantially more eclectic and in my subjective views couldn’t be categorized as homogenous. Free live music in DC is unheard of so I was extremely gracious. My only complaint is that this is a dive in the heart of the dmv that doesn’t serve National Bohemian. But I have since learned that they allow dogs so I won’t hold it against them.“
“I had such a blast at Kick Axe Throwing!! There is so much versatility in the space and a whole range of options of things to do!!There’s giant Jenga, a bunch of board games, giant Connect 4, a bar with a host of fantastic cocktails to choose from plus so so much more. The music was also really on point and had me adding a bunch of songs to my playlist!!Of course, there is the axe throwing… Which I 10/10 would recommend doing. We made a reservation on the same day, and were lucky there were slots available!! Before starting we got a 5-10 min tutorial on safety rules and technique with throwing the axe , which helped A LOT & also made me super comfortable.I liked the energy a lot — there were a good range of birthdays being celebrated, dates happening, friends hanging out… It was an all round great vibe!! I’m looking forward to going back and maybe grabbing some drinks, food, and playing some jumbo Jenga!!!“
“One of my very favorite bars in DC! Funky, fun and gorgeous. Bartenders are all FANTASTIC. And you can count on a good dance party upstairs on weekends, with a rotating selection of DJs. Really great spot if you're looking for options - spaces you can enjoy a (strong) drink and catch up, and spaces you can get your groove on. If you're looking for a private event space - I also hosted my birthday here, and they helped make it the best night!“
“Came for a drink and the bar is pretty cool. I came by myself and the service was fast and friendly. They have beers on tap, all kinds of alcohol and snacks - make sure you are not hungry when you come in. The setting is great, downstairs, large bar, lots of seating. Definitely a fun place to get a drink even on a Sunday night.“
“Welcome to the new Navy Yard bar inviting to to feel like you are in New York West Village. Striking an unexpectedly refreshing chord. Its excellence is undeniable, reminiscent of the enchanting vibe of Please Don’t Tell blended with a serene lounge atmosphere that simultaneously feels exclusive and inclusive. The menu playfully experiments with classic concoctions. I indulged in a Brookland—a creative take on a Brooklyn or dark Manhattan, a gem I've yet to stumble upon elsewhere in DC. It's intimate, it's trendy, and it's that under-the-radar spot everyone adores yet remains discreet. The creative genius and skillful craftsmanship of Andrew Hurn and Justin Cara-Donna infuse every detail, elevating this spot into a masterpiece of mixology and ambiance. Far from the glitz and the crowds, it's the ultimate destination for those lingering moments when the night is nearly done, but you're just not ready to call it quits.“
“My husband took me there to celebrate my birthday and I must say we had a wonderful time. The ambiance, service, the food was all A1 and we highly recommend this restaurant for a fine dining experience. Our server Rodrigo went above and beyond to make my birthday extra special.“
“We had a private birthday party and it was so fun the food was amazing the atmosphere was perfect. The bar tender was funny and helped make the night for all of us. Not from the area but would recommend to anyone and will definitely be back.“
“Dumpling District is in the back of Luna Food Hall. It's a cozy spot with tables and couches. There's also bubble tea, ice cream, and a bar here to go along with your meal. They made the dumplings fresh in front of us and they were amazing. The one thing I didn't like was the stir-fry noodles because it didn't have much flavor. Definitely come here for a fresh and tasty soup dumpling!“
“I’ve tried them all. Elle, the Den, Emissary, Tatte, Buna, 1990s cappuccinos at the Willard. Gotta hand it to the Den at #2, also an excellent experience. But Doubles is #1.Best coffee in DC when they get it right. Get a latte “for here” in one of their thick ceramic mugs and sit out in the warm Spring air on their covered patio. What a way to spend a Sunday.“
“This place is a little hard to find but definitely worth the effort. Great Mexican food and fantastic service. The servings are huge, I think the queso dip could serve 8 people. Margaritas were okay but beers from the giant cooler of beer were cold and refreshing.“
“Guys - if you like cider even a little bit, you have to come here. The cider is dry, flavorful, and delicious (without random sugar added). The atmosphere is hip, the lights are ambient, and Liz is (out of this world) attentive to all your food and beverage needs. COME GET ANXO! PS - you can bring your friendly dogs too.“
“"I love this bar; the ambiance is great! It's cozy and comfortable with seating both downstairs and upstairs (overlooking the downstairs). The service is great too. I let our server know I preferred gin and he was happy to have me name a drink or create one based on my preferences. Would recommend and enjoy returning!"“
“I don't come to bars often. This place may be changing that. We were part of a large group. Tons of orders for drinks and goods being placed. The staff was very professional and fast. I'm not sure how they got everything right. The fried Rice with shrimp eggs and corn was delicious. Too many places over cook fried rice. Not an issue here. Run of the mill beers like Corona , Stella and Heineken are quite affordable as well.“
“Absolutely amazing dinner at El Techno for my birthday. Vibes were immaculate, birria ramen bomb was in the top 5 things I've ever eaten. Staff were friendly and helpful, but didn't hover, absolutely perfect. Margaritas were delicious. The owner, Louie, came by and introduced himself and made sure everything was great. Honestly couldn't ask for a better dinner for the price.“
“Went for St. Patties day with my kids and it was a nice vibe. The metro rail car is so cool. All the staff were friendly and they even had a face painter! It is BYOF so there’s no food expect popcorn they make, but there are food vendors. It was pizza when I was there. Would definitely go back!“
“The Jewel of India, epitomizes classic and authentic Indian cuisine. Bright on the menu, one can find diversified culinary heritages of India. Not only fine food takes the dining experience here to another level; outstanding warm service does. Attentive and genuinely warm staff place every guest to a special space which can be nothing else than Indian hospitality. Adding on ambience of light and Indian classical music, it is a sumptuous, great experience that lures one back for more. Whether your love of Indian spices is an old affair or you are just coming to these eclectic flavors.“
“After drinking all evening we came here late night and I thought it was good! We ordered loaded tots and they took forever so the waitress took them off our bill which was nice of her. Definitely very few GF items here but I got the steak and eggs and enjoyed it!“
“Nestled in the Union Market District, this open-air bar exudes a welcoming individuality. The bartenders create a friendly atmosphere, complemented by great music. The spacious layout, complete with an oversized skylight, provides a perfect setting to unwind with any-sized group. The bar's beauty lies in its hexagonal light wood design adorned with wildlife pictures, perfect for cocktail pics. The ambience is matched by the quality of the cocktails, which range from premade options to frozen drinks and freshly mixed concoctions. Whether you're catching up with friends or looking to meet new people, this spot is a dope spot in Union Market.“
“Today, I tried Fight Club. I found their lunch menu offered unique combinations of sandwiches and sides. Each sandwich contained flavors one might not normally pair. I enjoyed a Genoa Salami and Coleslaw Sandwich! It was absolutely fantastic! I’d place it in my top 5 sandwiches ever! If you’re looking for a wonderful dining experience, check out Fight Club DC!“
“It was a very nice experience I enjoy going there. The food is delicious. I would like to see the happy hour Just to be a little bit longer. Like to have a happy hour menu. Salmon sliders, Burgers, Crabs balls be nice Also it's good to have lower combo meals chicken wings and fries, Fishing chips, And all different types of salads. From your chef's salad to your garden salad. Just my opinion is a very nice spot. I enjoy being there.“
“Foods pretty good, service is fine. But the main reason to come to the Nude Eel is the MUSIC. They have great bands. And they are careful to keep the volume down - I hate places where the music drowns out everything. I love this place and hope it will be there forever.“
“Sorry couldn't take photos but I tell you we visited here for wife birthday just have to say happy wife happy life everything was so delicious and hot and on point ? ? drinks was awesome and food was hot and delicious wow I'm driving home saying to myself what a great restaurant and concept if you haven't visited here your missing a great opportunity for good food folks!!“
