“Possibly one of the best bakeries in the entire country? Forget crab cakes; when you’re in Baltimore, you must visit Café Dear Leon, like how a foodie trip to SF is not complete without Tartine.I was struck by how much better CDL is than even the top bakeries in NYC. They’ve mastered the art of the laminated dough—croissants, kouign amanns, danishes, quiches. Also, their scones are the best I’ve ever had.CDL releases baked goods on a strict schedule. Check their website. Once an item has sold out for the day, that’s it. The most popular items are completely gone in less than an hour on a weekend. During the colder months, CDL doesn’t have any seating as they need the space to keep guests warm while queueing.The pastries do retain their crispness throughout the day, but obviously they’re much better when fresh out of the oven.I’ll be haunted by the fact that I can’t just hop over to CDL whenever I have a craving for pastries.“

“How could you not love the oven bird nestled on a residential block in Baltimore's little Italy? Ovenbird specializes in mouthwatering, pastries and excellent breads. In fact, the ham and grower cheese croissant I had here was a recent favorite. But I for the desserts they only have two tables, but get them to go if you can I hoard them like little treasures. Long live the oven bird.“

“Pretty solid little bakery in an unassuming shopping center. We stopped in to check it out and got several goodies. They had muffins and various pastries plus cupcakes, cake pops, chocolate covered pretzels, etc. They also make a variety of coffee drinks. Everything was very tasty - I particularly liked the spinach and feta pastry and the cupcakes. They were super moist and all of them had a filling inside which is the best! I just wish they had more options with cream cheese icing. Cream cheese is wayyy superior to buttercream. The muffins and some of the other pastries are made ahead of time so they were frozen. They offered to heat things up for us but we took a couple of things as is to have later.The inside had some tables and chairs (though it seems like most take things to go) and the staff were very nice. We were pleasantly surprised by the yummery and plan to return at some point!“

“The food is amazing and the employees are always so nice! Prices are also very fair. Have been twice in the last week lol. Eat in gets chips and salsa along with a bit of ice cream at the end which is a great touch. Would highly recommend to anyone who would listen!“

“Owner/operator was awesome and patient at the end of the night. I've tried the banana pudding, and both chocolate cake and cheesecake, all fantastic. I'm going back for breakfast ASAPVegetarian options: Would be cool to have more but that's not the operation being run here. Traditional bakery style is about traditional ingredients so you can expect that here. They do it really well though ?“
