If you are around it's a solid spot for lunch or takeout dinner.

“I stopped in with friends before a event Sunday evening. The staff was warm and welcoming. I had the lentil sambusas and a peanut-infused coffee at the staff’s recommendation. The food was fast and delicious- the sambusas were warm and spicy, and the peanut coffee was delicious! In a kind gesture, the chef sent over a sampling of sushi to our table. Fresh and refreshing, the sushi was a nice complement to my sambusas and hot beverage. I’m not on this side of town often, but now I have a reason to come back.“

“We visited for the first time this evening, on the recommendation of a friend who’s been dining at Temari for years. Just as she told us it would be, the atmosphere was warm and cozy. Business was steady. When we left, there were two parties waiting to be seated, which for a small establishment speaks volumes. Despite being busy, the servers were engaging and attentive (always offering to clear debris and empty dishes from the table, too). The food presentation was timely and appealing. When seated, we ordered tea, which was lovely, and served in the most beautiful - possibly handmade? - mugs. I look forward to returning.“

“Bento is a spot that never misses. I live close by so I’ve been coming here to eat for years and I have not once been disappointed. The prices have always been affordable and the portions have been very filling. I enjoyed a shrimp teriyaki from here today and the shrimp was fresh, perfectly seared on the outside and crispy, but not too overcooked to where it has a chewy texture. Just perfect. Amazing service. Amazing food. Amazing staff.“

“Just had an awesome meal at Kusshi Sushi last week with my friend. She is a sushi lover and mentioned the sashimi was fresh and perfect. The sweet shrimp was sweet, dedicate, and tasty. She loved the crispy shrimp head too. The vibe was chill and the staff were super nice. She said the price was only half of what she would pay in New York. “A place I visit regularly, about once a month.

Among nearby sushi spots, this is the best place for nigiri. The balance between the sushi rice and the fish is excellent..the thickness and aging of the fish pair perfectly with the rice portion.

I often order the sashimi platter as well, which is always generous in portion. The udon and tempura are also great additions to enjoy alongside the sashimi.

There are just two areas that could be improved. First, using fresh wasabi would better match both the quality and the price point. Second, the front-of-house service could use more attention...each visit, we tend to be left waiting for a while upon arrival, which is a bit disappointing.“

“Me and a friend visited this place for the first time. The food was really great and we enjoyed it a lot. Although they should add boba or smoothies. Different drinks to the menu would be even better! I’d definitely come back if they had boba and that ramen is so good. Please addd boba if you’re the owner!! This would be 5 star review - lowest 4.8. Also very reasonable pricing and great portion size. Betty explained that the ingredients are home made and you can definitely tell the authentic taste!“

The Women at the register are happy and efficient.

There is an unmistakable tension between the hispanic sous chefs and the main guy back there (Friday) which some may not care about. I am not trying to sound too woke and liberal. I am a foodie. In the style of nothing being hidden, somebody needs to take a joy class, or at least see it as good for business IMHO. I used to serve food in a monastery so I realize the bar is set high for me, but we would let the Donny and Debby Downers take the night off if they brought this energy into the kitchen.

Not the review you thought would happen. The food is amazing! I am not exagerating though. If I come to the door again and see the same tension-to include proximity scowls, then I’ll probably wait until another night and get a 5 Guys burger next door.

“I've been to Shibuya several times since they opened. The quality of the ingredients is very high. Each individual part of the dishes whether it is the amazing pork belly, the marinated bamboo shoots, the rich broth or little marinated vegetable dishes, are outstanding. Service is kind and very helpful. Shibuya is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood.“

“My second visit, and the first one for two companions, we went for lunch. The atmosphere is very nice, quiet but not overly so. The staff greeting at the door is very pleasant, with smiles all around. Takumi offers specials for lunch, for $16-$18, including a Sushi one. The specials are served on a beautiful dark wooden tray, which includes the appetizer (salad or miso soup), a choice of 4 main courses (I enjoyed both Don, a bowl or rice with either eel or chirashi, a mix of raw fish; also on offer is a shrimp tempura, and the third dish is a nigiri sushi roll, (choice of 4). With this comes a small tray with three compartments, one with a salad (I had squid once and seaweed once), two and a piece of soft tofu in a slightly sweet syrup to wrap up the meal. The a la carte menu is very tempting as well, and the special rolls are delicious. All fish is flown fresh from Japan, and included Hokkaido uni (sea urshin) which was wonderful. All around, a lovely experience. We will be back!“

However, Sushi Toro is always consistent with their quality especially for their price. The sushi tastes amazing and fresh, the service is wonderful, and the atmosphere is perfect for a date night or a casual dinner with friends. Easily the best sushi I've had in Rockville.
