“It's a small place in the food court Wheaton shopping center, so expect noise during lunch times and busy times over weekend. Food itself is quite good, with large portions.
If you are around it's a solid spot for lunch or takeout dinner.

“I happily got my sushi fix here. The Dynamite Crunch roll was great! The eel avocado roll was good, but after splurging on the Dynamite, it seemed plain in comparison.

Seeing the staff greet regulars with such warmth made it apparent that this is a great place with hospitality that goes above and beyond. The ramen had delicious broth, and my husband loved his chicken teriyaki. The Japanese market upstairs was so cute too! It made for a great little afternoon outing.“

“I stopped in with friends before a event Sunday evening. The staff was warm and welcoming. I had the lentil sambusas and a peanut-infused coffee at the staff’s recommendation. The food was fast and delicious- the sambusas were warm and spicy, and the peanut coffee was delicious! In a kind gesture, the chef sent over a sampling of sushi to our table. Fresh and refreshing, the sushi was a nice complement to my sambusas and hot beverage. I’m not on this side of town often, but now I have a reason to come back.“

“Bento is a spot that never misses. I live close by so I’ve been coming here to eat for years and I have not once been disappointed. The prices have always been affordable and the portions have been very filling. I enjoyed a shrimp teriyaki from here today and the shrimp was fresh, perfectly seared on the outside and crispy, but not too overcooked to where it has a chewy texture. Just perfect. Amazing service. Amazing food. Amazing staff.“

“So I'll preface this with having grown up in Los Angeles, ate at amazing sushi spots in San Francisco and San Diego, and top it off with Hawaii for a week. This is hands down the best Japanese food I have ever had. I was confused as I went to it and the door said it was a phsycic reader. I called and a woman came to the upstairs window ushering me upstairs through the door.

I ordered fried oysters, chicken teriyaki lunch with rice and soup, and a tuna and mackerel nigiri. Half way through I was confused as to what I was eating and realized it was the mackerel with a very submissive non-gamey flavor. The chicken teriyaki wasn't much to fuss about, wish it was grilled. The salad was the best I have ever had, not sure how to describe other then it was original. I told the manager all of this and she was thrilled, and they got a deserved big tip. Y'all in Washington DC are lucky 😆“

“I absolutely love Qu! My boyfriend and I grab dinner from there at least once a week. We’ve tried the tonkoto miso, beef, and the shrimp ramen! All so flavorful and filling! The sushi tacos are also to die for. They always taste fresh as they are! Last by not least the customer service is great. They always speak, smile, and food is prepared quickly! You have to try!!! Some of the best Ramen ever, by far.“

“A place I visit regularly, about once a month.

Among nearby sushi spots, this is the best place for nigiri. The balance between the sushi rice and the fish is excellent..the thickness and aging of the fish pair perfectly with the rice portion.

I often order the sashimi platter as well, which is always generous in portion. The udon and tempura are also great additions to enjoy alongside the sashimi.

There are just two areas that could be improved. First, using fresh wasabi would better match both the quality and the price point. Second, the front-of-house service could use more attention...each visit, we tend to be left waiting for a while upon arrival, which is a bit disappointing.“

“Me and a friend visited this place for the first time. The food was really great and we enjoyed it a lot. Although they should add boba or smoothies. Different drinks to the menu would be even better! I’d definitely come back if they had boba and that ramen is so good. Please addd boba if you’re the owner!! “Every thing we had was so delicious. We started with genmaicha tea as it was a chilly day and then ordered appetizers.
The
tea was perfectly roasted and cozy. We had the rock shrimp and fried sweet potato- lightly fried and full of flavor. Next I had the salmon teriyaki and friend has Ramen. Also delicious, no complaints. The true winner was our waiter. He was so welcoming, accommodating, funny and kind. Will be back very soon.“

“I rarely ever a review but I had for Fuji Japan! Betty the owner was super sweet and the food was amazing! I go to a lot of Japanese or Hibachi places and this is by far my favorite. This would be 5 star review - lowest 4.8. Also very reasonable pricing and great portion size. Betty explained that the ingredients are home made and you can definitely tell the authentic taste!“

The Women at the register are happy and efficient.

There is an unmistakable tension between the hispanic sous chefs and the main guy back there (Friday) which some may not care about. I am not trying to sound too woke and liberal. I am a foodie. In the style of nothing being hidden, somebody needs to take a joy class, or at least see it as good for business IMHO. I used to serve food in a monastery so I realize the bar is set high for me, but we would let the Donny and Debby Downers take the night off if they brought this energy into the kitchen.

Not the review you thought would happen. The food is amazing! I am not exagerating though. If I come to the door again and see the same tension-to include proximity scowls, then I’ll probably wait until another night and get a 5 Guys burger next door.

However, Sushi Toro is always consistent with their quality especially for their price. The sushi tastes amazing and fresh, the service is wonderful, and the atmosphere is perfect for a date night or a casual dinner with friends. Easily the best sushi I've had in Rockville.
