More of a cafe than a coffee shop, Burundi was delightful to visit. Their simple coffee menu is done well. Their food dishes were excellent and unique for me. The shop is cute, well put together, and clean. There is available street parking at the nearby corner. Staff were friendly and helpful. This would be perfect for a work meeting, coffee date, or community destination. Highly recommend.

Burundi Star Coffee is a hidden gem that offers excellent coffee and tasty meat pies, including the off the charts delicious Beef Sambousa’s. The spotless cafe provides simple yet delicious breakfast options, featuring a panini style breakfast sandwich with fresh eggs, cheese, avocado, and tomato, as well as the popular avocado toast. The avocado toast is like a warm hug, made with thick warm rye bread and a generous layer of avocado, seasoned perfectly. The rice dish continues to impress, served with toasted homemade bread and olive oil. The banana stew is also a yummy must-try. Parking is available right out front or across the street. The atmosphere is great, low key, and has a friendly vibe, making it an easy walk from downtown Portland.
