“We have dined at 18 Central many times over the years. The restaurant is warm and inviting, located at Rockport Harbor. Be sure to check out the amazing view from the back with the seasonal deck! The food is incredible! Our party usually gets a variety of steaks, seafood and raw bar. Chef Patrick and his team create high quality and super tasty dishes. Jessica and her team’s offer top notch hospitality. Beautiful wine list and well executed cocktails are a plus! The restaurant is open year round (with a well-deserved) break, I believe. They offer generous specials so be sure to check them out.”

“I had the baked potato pizza. My husband got the buffalo chicken pizza. Everything was delicious. It was literally some of the best food I’ve tasted. The waitress was extremely nice and attentive as well. For 2 pizzas and 2 drinks it was less than $40. That’s a good deal for any restaurant on the coast”

“I'm a local and went here for the first time for a business dinner. I have been dreaming of going back ever since.

We began with a cocktail, the Blackberry Pineapple Smash. Sipping on and savoring one of these had us floating blissfully through the entire meal. Not overly sweet but not too bitter either, and served frosty cold, almost frozen, but not.

We had several amazing appetizers, including the octopus which was grilled and served with delicious sundried peppers and accoutrements. The texture of the octopus was divine, as was the grilled flavor (seasoning, I could swear, almost like streaks of blackening).

We also all had the haddock dish with sweet pea risotto but swapped haddock for salmon. Indulgent! The risotto was so delicious and plentiful I took it home for two more meals the next day. Our server was professional and prompt without being intrusive.

Our service and the ambience were superb (early November). I cannot wait to take friends and family back now that I know about this gem and several good items to order plus other tempting items to try throughout the menu. It speaks volumes that near a month later I remembered all these details with no photos or notes from that night.

Regarding the negative reviews, I'm sure they may have off nights, finding enough labor is difficult in midcoast Maine. But this place hits hard when it hits, and that's all I've experienced so far, a standout meal and an experience I won't forget. Highly recommend (and I'd be thrilled even if they had an occasional off night).”

“This is one of my top 3 Dunkin’s in Maine. Every worker there is actually nice. THEY MAKE YOU YOUR DRINK HOW YOUUU WANT IT! Without saying oh we can’t do that. Every time I go in they are cleaning the place as well. They have more donuts to choose from as well just don’t show up 2 hours before closing because they’ll only have about 3 kinds left lol.”

“Franny’s Bistro is the perfect elevated spot for a special occasion or just-because, whether a date night or getting together with friends or loved ones. It’s extremely cozy, especially on a winter evening, with moody amber lighting, but not too stuffy. I’m sure their outdoor seating is charming as well when there isn’t snow on the ground.

The dishes on offer are a wide array that nod to both the seafaring roots of coastal Maine, as well as bistro dishes like roasted chicken or steak frites, and even with some New Orleans influence here and there. There’s something for everyone.

The whole team is super welcoming. Our server was Pedja and he was very attentive. We had some nice chats with some of the other folks who sat us and ran out our drinks and food.

My partner had the roast chicken and it was perfect. Tender, not dry, a garlic-herb drizzle that was great for dunking the focaccia, and great potatoes and broccoli rabe.

My scallops & mussels dish was tasty not only because the fish was perfectly done, but because it was all paired with the genius combination of creamed corn and bacon over cheddar grits. WOW.

Gluten free scones and more. Monhegan Coffee Roasters coffee and tea served. Whole bean and teas sold for take-away. Next time, we’ll try the savory options. Definitely returning again.”

While on a waitlist at a bustling nearby establishment, my wife and I decided to take a walk. Our goal: a quick snack and beverage while we wait for our spot at the bar.

A few steps away from our original plan, we walked past Winona’s, an unassuming but inviting front, and put our eyes on the menu posted in the window. It was compact, but refreshingly uncomplicated and clear. When our attention drifted from the menu through the glass into the interior, we caught the attention of an older couple who emphatically waved us in with thumbs up and smiles. How could we not stop in..

We were greeted with nothing short of exceptional hospitality, and found a spot at one of their limited tables by the windows. We mentioned we were just in for a quick drink and snack, and the response was nothing short of miraculous. We felt we received the same service and hospitality as if we were the most important guests of the night(which I assure you, we were not).

My wife and I were traveling from Montana, and I begrudgingly consider ourselves “foodies,” but we admittedly each know our way around a kitchen and bar. She got a glass of white, and I got a beet root beer, I think “Helleflower”. Great.

We ordered what I can only remember was titled “Scallop Crudo”. As i’m writing this review from memory a month after my visit. Which, if anything, should attest to how compelled I was to write this, and how great my experience was..

The dish was fresh. The scallops sliced thin, sitting in a perfect acidic Leche De Tigre, with sweet cut apple, tobiko, and bitter greens. I likely missed a few small details..My point is that our “snack” was rich, balanced, light, filling, refreshing, and unique. My only regret? Leaving this place for a nearby establishment.

I told the proprietors they should be proud of what they built and are putting out into the word. I meant it.

“Went in not expecting much in sleepy Thomaston ME; ended up w one of best sandwiches ever, not just in Maine but in all my travels. The chickpea wrap had perfect combination of spicy sauce and crisp vegetables in a very fresh wrap. Honestly, I was shocked to find such deliciousness in this small, unpretentious shop. Didn’t try anything else, but 100% recommend chickpea sandwich!”

“I honestly can't understand why this gem isn't getting more attention. We have eaten there three times, and each time, the food has been out of this world. It's shocking that such a small, unassuming place knocks it out of the park in terms of bread (every single bread on the menu is FANTASTIC--last time we went, our table got one of each!), entrees, drinks AND baked desserts. If you want a stellar meal in a low-key atmosphere, you must go to Albatross. I sort of don't want the secret to get out, because I want to always be able to get a table, but this place should be packed every day.”
