“I'm a local and went here for the first time for a business dinner. I have been dreaming of going back ever since.

We began with a cocktail, the Blackberry Pineapple Smash. Sipping on and savoring one of these had us floating blissfully through the entire meal. Not overly sweet but not too bitter either, and served frosty cold, almost frozen, but not.

We had several amazing appetizers, including the octopus which was grilled and served with delicious sundried peppers and accoutrements. The texture of the octopus was divine, as was the grilled flavor (seasoning, I could swear, almost like streaks of blackening).

We also all had the haddock dish with sweet pea risotto but swapped haddock for salmon. Indulgent! The risotto was so delicious and plentiful I took it home for two more meals the next day. Our server was professional and prompt without being intrusive.

Our service and the ambience were superb (early November). I cannot wait to take friends and family back now that I know about this gem and several good items to order plus other tempting items to try throughout the menu. It speaks volumes that near a month later I remembered all these details with no photos or notes from that night.

Regarding the negative reviews, I'm sure they may have off nights, finding enough labor is difficult in midcoast Maine. But this place hits hard when it hits, and that's all I've experienced so far, a standout meal and an experience I won't forget. Highly recommend (and I'd be thrilled even if they had an occasional off night).“

Usually I don’t like mustard but it was perfectly balanced with the onions and pickles” 14 year old- “I like the combination and the crunch of onion and lettuce. The burger was cooked perfectly. I used exactly 7 napkins.” 10 year old- “ The best BLT on the midcoast. The most bacon I have ever seen on a BLT. If I had to judge on a 1-5 scale. “They serve up delicious coffee and tea and the staff is super friendly and helpful! Though sad about returning to Florida, I brought home bags of tea and will surely order more. I'm loving their Maine Blueberry tea and look forward to trying others. 💙🫐“

“I had my first Ruckus Donuts this morning and my life is changed. I was thinking that they were kind of expensive, but let me tell you, they're worth EVERY PENNY! These things are HEAVY! They're loaded with toppings. And they're HUGE! I'm a fan for life. Even though I have to drive an hour and a half round trip for this deliciousness, it's going to be my go-to for when people come visit now. (and hopefully I don't gain back all the weight I lost in the last year! HA!) Thank you for a delicious donut that's well worth the price and the drive! <3“

“Great restaurant, creative menu. I had the granola and yogurt, would have been better with more yogurt since I was left with mostly dry granola to eat after finishing the small amount of yogurt. Tasty, but proportions need to be more balanced. Otherwise a nice breakfast.“

“The bagel and cream cheese assortment is great. Amazing Greek salad. Horrible location, the previous space was bigger. The new Main Street location is awful. There is no room to even wait for the bagels. IF you decide to sit down you end up being crowded by the line waiting to order. Parking was easier at the previous location as well. Please move somewhere better! 🥰“

“WOW!!!A feel-good local favorite, I’m so glad that out of all of the great restaurants on Main Street I chose “Rockland Cafe”, I had read some reviews about it before I came to town and was swayed by some of creative offerings on their menu like their Reuben Sandwich made with a fish filet 🐠 (!), Seafood Lasagna and their Homemade Fish Cake which is a reason to travel to Rockland, Maine! It was a cross between a Potato 🥔 Latke/Pancake and a Puerto Rican 🇵🇷 Bacalaito - it’s delicious!!!! A must try with some lemon 🍋 wedges (skip the tartar sauce). I don’t recall my server’s name but she had a fun personality and told me how much she loves her job. I watched how customer after customer were all greeted by name because this is a local spot that has a loyal fan club! I would have loved to have tried many more items such as their many dessert pies - apple, blueberry, peanut butter and chocolate but I didn’t have room in my stomach! I write about food professionally and can say that this place serves everything with love. Keep it up!!!“

“Just spent 5 nights here & it was a great stay. Perfect location! Our room was Paris. It was beautiful with lots of pillows and the bed was so comfortable! Would definitely recommend & stay here again!“
