“Super place to eat. One of my favorite places to meet friends for chatting. They even have some fancy coffees. There are so many sandwiches, soups, and salads - including 'clean' eating choices. Some things on the menu change but most is consistent so you are assured of finding something you love, even if you are a picky eater.”

“Everything at Gin Gin’s is top notch; from the food to the service to the atmosphere. It is easily the best restaurant in GR! Downside is that it’s hard to get in. You have to get there at open if you don’t have a reservation and if you need a reservation I’d recommend booking at least a week in advance, especially on the weekends.”

“This restaurant came recommend to me as the best steakhouse in Grand Rapids. I was not disappointed. The staff was friendly (Kathryn) and answered all my questions. The atmosphere is perfect for a fancy date. Very romantic setting to impress. I don't drink alcohol and they had an alcohol free 0% Giasen Merlot which was exquisite. I started with French Onion Soup and Cheese Popover Muffins. For an entree, I had Australian Rib Lamb Chops with a Mint Demi Glase. For a side, I enjoyed Brussels Sprouts with Honey Dijon Mustard Sause. Everything exceeded my expectations and the Merlot paired nicely with the Lamb Chops. I highly recommend the Chop House as a must visit dining destination in the heart of Grand Rapids.”

“Took 70minutes for the line at 430 on Saturday, So plan ahead. The fries with salt and special sauce are excellent. Burgers were just a smash burger to me. Got the classic triple and a double. Their version of a coke was a nice for a 1 time thing.”

We had a chili dog, corn dog, smash burgers, and regular fries, and chili fries between all of us. It was great food. The service was great. Everyone was friendly and having a good time. “If you don’t give this place a 4 or 5 star review…well you just don’t know what good breakfast food is. I’ve eaten at literally hundreds of different breakfast places over decades from chains to 5 star resorts and all in between. This place for what it is and the home made character and taste is just top notch. That’s just the facts. For top creative home made quality and service in the West Michigan area Anna’s house is the gold standard. Or at least the core restaurants are. Oskar Scots is a rival to Anna’s house IMO. Oscar Scot’s is what Anna’s house was 15 years ago…a hole in the wall place that served up home made creative food and excellent service.

The food gets a full five stars at least for what we had. We only sampled a couple different menu breakfast items. 5 stars means perfection. The bread is home made and it shows. The jam (don’t call it jelly) is also home made and it is excellent. The sausage gravy is excellent. Food is quality and home made, and home made well.

Service is excellent. Again rivals Anna’s house at the core places. The servers are friendly and helpful and attentive, like you are dining at a friend’s house. They are so happy and pleasant but not over bearing. So service gets a full five stars.

Atmosphere gets 4 stars. Hey it’s a strip mall restaurant. You come for the food not high end digs. Just simple booths and chairs…again think Anna’s house at the original time and place. The murals on the walls are great, reflecting local character and the owners personality. Open and friendly atmosphere. More money spent on booths and chairs and the service ware could be done but I doubt that would draw in more customers. And once you eat the food you really don’t care about the simple atmosphere.

So overall one of the local gems that isn’t well known. But it is well worth the drive to Dutton. We will be back.
