“I wanted my family and I to try a new & special place to celebrate my mom’s birthday, and this place was amazing. Beautifully plated, ultra-delicious, special flare, authentic food. Kind & friendly staff. Cool atmosphere, family friendly. Easy parking. Proud that this place represents our Mexican heritage. No gimmicks, everything about this place made me feel like I actually was in a modern day restaurant in Mexico.“

“Great new add to the downtown Detroit restaurant offerings! Korean/Mexican fusion. Bone-in short rib burrito and birria grilled cheese were both off the charts. Also excellent service. Chef stopped by our table and gave us the full story about the restaurant. Highly recommended!“

Since the first time I tried their tacos, I’ve been hooked and keep coming back. The shells are perfectly crispy, the meat is always seasoned just right, and honestly, no other place compares. You can tell everything is made with care and fresh ingredients.
This review is way overdue. The menu is small, but everything on it is high quality and done really well. I don’t even mind the 45 minute drive for these tacos—they really are bad ass! The service is excellent, everyone is friendly and welcoming, and they always make you feel like a regular.
I always look forward to the weekends just so I can drive over for their tacos and ramen. The ramen is comforting and flavorful, and the tacos are consistently amazing every single time. This business deserves 20 stars—it is my number one taco place! If you’re thinking about trying this place, do it—you’ll be hooked too.“

“Blown away by how good this was. Was craving Mexican food for a good while and never really noticed Taqueria Alma was in my city. Ordered a Wet Burrito Dinner which came out to be $12.71. Fantastic service and food.
The whole meal was fresh and piping hot, the chicken was delicious, and it was an extremely affordable meal. Before I received my order, a customer inside let the cashier know that it was the best tacos he'd eaten and I'm glad I took his word for it- it seriously was that good. This meal came with lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, beans and rice on the sides.
If you're ever in the mood for an affordable meal or you're in the area and wanting something delicious to eat, Taqueria Alma is there for you.“

“I have been dining here for at least 20 years. Me being an authentic Mexican and was raised on authentic Mexican food this is my all time favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. The wait staff is always friendly and on point with anything that I need. Never have I been disappointed.“

“While I love the flavor of their food, the only time we've had an order 100% correct was the first time we ordered. Every time we order since then there's something missing, fries overcooked and hard, messed up items, and things added to what we've ordered when we've requested it to be removed. Thankfully I simply don't like tomatoes and onions and am not allergic to them, cuz they ALWAYS forget to remove the pico when my receipt even says "no pico de gallo". Their queso blanco and their Sabor sauce are probably the two best things about them, at least when they remember to include it even if you pay for extra. For how pricey they are I would expect to have my order correct all the time. I'll be going down to the taco trucks in Southwest Detroit from now on cuz they always get the order right, they're delicious, AND they're inexpensive.“

“I can honestly say I wasn't expecting much. Its a burger from a gas station. But let me tell you, it was almost a religious experience. I took the first bite of the simple smash burger and I didnt process what it was I was eat. The second bite, I had to set the burger down to appreciate what was going on. The bread was warm the meat was salty and spicy and hit the umami sweet spot. The smash burger had the crunchy edges but still had that firm meat bite. It was easily the best burger ive had in the last 15 years.“

You don’t feel like you’re being ripped off & the owner (I think he was the owner) graciously gave me more sauce since my husband forgot to ask for it on when he was ordering. “First, I am not a fan of Tex mex so take that into account. Had a T-bone steak covered in grilled vegetables which was very good. Guacamole was good. I didn’t like the flavor of the rice or beans. Didn’t try the chips, salsa, tortillas…. I’m not the best person to review, but if you’re not into Tex mex, try the steak.“

“It was all love. Fresh mex came to Amazon Det6 for night lunch for the employees and the time I come for work is when the food court ⅖usually closes. I went to the lunchroom hoping the food didn't close. When I arrived fresh mex was just packing up. Chef looked at me from afar and gave me nod and asked if I was hungry. Boy, you should seen my eyes light up when me asked that question. I ran as fast as I could to the counter. I got the yellow rice bowl/chicken with the toppings of cheese and salsa. My first bite felt almost close to heaven. They use chicken thighs so you already know that the chicken is juicy. I do appreciate the hospitality. Much love.“

“I'm not sure what the other reviews are talking about. The customer service was amazing. Food came out quick as well. Maybe they just have a hard time when it's busy, which is understandable. And they try their best to keep things neat and clean.Also, I'll update this if I end up vomiting in the middle of the night like one of the other reviews said, lol.
Vegetarian options: You can get beans or potatoes.“

“This is a true hidden gem. The place is nice and cozy, good music and good people. The servers are friendly and happy, and the food is delicious. Everything tasted fresh and high quality, and the portion sizes are more than generous. Definitely give this place a try if you haven't. It felt like going to a friend's family house for lunch. Will absolutely be back.“
