The staff was so friendly that it felt like a family gathering! Our food was delicious as well. “On a Saturday night my girlfriend and I wanted to go somewhere close and somewhere simple and we found The coach grill. First thing i saw was how busy and cozy the place seemed right when we walked in. After the staff cleaned a table very quickly and seated us, we looked over the menu. I heard of the famous Ruben sandwich and I wanted to try their wagyu burgers. So we ordered both, it was not a long wait at all...first impression was the Ruben was fresh and delicious and packed with flavor....while being a thick sandwich the bread was toasty and did not turn soggy. The wagyu burger I got with with cheddar and mushrooms was juicy and well made we also got the garlic fries which were hand cut, tasty and hot to the touch.
The staff was very kind and attentive, always checking on us, replacing drinks without being asked and being quick to clean off the table of plates we were done with....but not being pushy in any way.
The vibe was busy but still nice and the music was at a perfect volume,not too loud and the place had a nice style.
I would not only recommend this establishment if you like american bar food but I will definitely be back for that Ruben again“

“I moved here in March and I’m still working on finding my new local go to spots. It’s my first time here and this is going to be my #1 go to diner/Coney Island.
It’s a family run business and it’s obvious that they work hard to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The waitresses are genuinely kind and you can tell they care about their customer.

The food was really good! It came out quick, the portions were generous, and if you like hash browns you won’t be sorry!! I’m a big coffee gal and my coffee was never empty, always hot, and as a VERY rare treat, the coffee is actually really good.

Lastly, the restaurant is clean and well maintained. It is obvious they take pride in what they do and are dedicated to making a great experience.

Support your local businesses and try this Coney Island! You won’t be disappointed!

“Another small hole in the wall restaurant that are always far better then big places.
Only open for breakfast and lunch and nearly always a line to get in. Locals love the place tucked in behind a drug store.
Food is great and you get a lot which makes the slightly higher prices easier when you have enough for a second meal later.
Still a regular spot a year later for the reasons above.“

“Chef Salad with ranch and warm pita. My go to favorite never disappoints. Recently had shoulder surgery so the salad being cut (not chopped) is perfect. Highly recommend it. Thank you to the staff.“

“I scheduled a Celebration of Life event on Wednesday afternoon July 13th, reserving one of the 2 private rooms that are available for gatherings. I gave a $100 deposit which was later subtracted from the total bill.. so there was no charge for the room. The large room holds up to 100 people, we were in the smaller room, having a guest list of 23. My guests raved about the food and our server Rebecca. She did a Great job, very attentive, and friendly. Thanks also to Jackie, and the rest of the staff. Kudos to the kitchen! “I moved to SCS 5 months ago and have never been here before. My family and I have tried carryout from several restaurants and we always end up with Gilbert’s. Great food, service & prices. I had my daughters 1st birthday in their banquet room yesterday and I’m over the moon happy with how it turned out! The staff was super helpful and always around when I needed anything.
