“Formerly Reserve Wine & Food, Allora is owned by The Windquest Group (Dick & Betsy DeVos) which basically owns downtown Grand Rapids and opened earlier this year. My expectations were very high. \n\nUpon entering the restaurant, you first have to enter a lobby area which leads into the restaurant. We arrived early and wanted to have drinks at the bar but it was full. We were told to come back for our allotted reservation (the bar only seats 8). \n\nThe space is intimate with mostly table seating. Menu is decent. We started with the fried seafood, Aranci balls and yellowtail. Portions are small, food is unremarkable. Caesar salad had fresh anchovies, nice touch. Bread service is $10, so irritating. \n\nSquid ink pasta was excellent. Filets were good although not Prime and Ora King was decent, although 6 oz. portion not filling. \n\nThey offer corkage fee for $50 bottle, two bottle max which we took advantage of although our waiter wasn't happy about it. \n\nOverall, Allora is nothing to write home about and nothing stands out on the menu. For a "coastal" Italian restaurant and owned by the DeVos family, our expectations were not met and will not return.“

“Five stars! We ended a week of camping with a vehicle delay on our way home and stopped for lunch at Big Bob’s while my husband took the truck to get fixed. First of all, the food was amazing (our son said the deep dish was better than Giordano’s). But more importantly, Rob and his staff took were beyond hospitable to our 3 kids and I as we spent the next 5 hours utilizing their Uno cards, Connect Four and enjoying their complementary popcorn. If you’re ever in the Grand Rapids area we highly recommend giving them a try. We’ll definitely be back next time we come through Grand Rapids.“

“We went to this Cottage Inn because we haven’t had it since college. It is such a cute restaurant. The man who waited on us was so friendly and patient while we figured out what we wanted. The food was made fresh while we waited and it was done very quickly. The pizza was amazing and the breadsticks came with a garlic cream cheese sauce that was incredible! It was a great experience, the pizza was better than I remembered!“

“We order Jets very regularly at our office. So about 15 minutes ago I ordered tomorrow’s office lunch from Jet's Pizza Forest Hills location. About 14 minutes ago, I got a call from a GR number and ignored it .... because ROBO CALLS all the time..... I got a voicemail from James @ Jet’s trying to determine if my order was for tonight (since I forgot to change delivery time to tomorrow 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️) or for tomorrow. In his voicemail he mentioned that since we usually order on Mondays, he’s going to assume it’s for tomorrow unless I call back. How many companies would go through that trouble??? Or even remember their regular clients?? I’m impressed. 👏🏼👏🏼“

“We walked past about a month ago and it smelled so delicious I couldn't forget it. We had the chance to stop in last night to order a pie and cheese sticks and we were not disappointed. The young ladies working, Layla and Victoria, were very professional and helpful with our questions. The food is delicious and the prices are not terrible. “Their New York style pizza crust was a pretty good take on NY pizza, but the rest of the pie was not NY. I am not from NY but have spent my share of time on nybpizza quests in all 5 boros. This pie way too much of the mozzarella they brag about that was loaded on a sauce that has ZERO to do with the basil/ fennel sweetness of a NY pie. To serve a NY pie, you can't use a detroit sauce and it is essential to use a blend of cheeses instead of overdoing the mozzarella to the point of being the rubbery schmotz we received. Place was clean, phone order was efficient and our pies were ready when we arrived. As for detroit style pizza?... it's not my thing. In a pinch I would go to a jets again for cleanliness, service, and great attitude... but the food is not my fave“

If you're serious about a good crisp, but chewy crust, literally look no further.
To be honest, they missed a topping or two for the pizza we ordered, but I literally could not care less. This is the best pizza I've ever gotten in town.“

“My husband took me out for what he still calls date night after 30 yrs. of marriage. He and I are both foodies and love going on adventures for restaurants that go a step above in both food taste, presentation, atmosphere and service. And I'm here to tell you that Alfanos hit all of these with flying colors. Cody and Alex were our bartenders/servers. They were excellent. I had the Chicken picata and it was off the chart with flavor and presentation not to mention a healthy serving. Delicious is all I kept saying. Compliments to the chef!!!!! My goodness I can't wait to go and try something else. My husband had the chicken parmesan dinner and too was very pleased. Thank you very much to our servers and the Alfanos for a wonderful date nite and dining experience 😊 we will definitely be back.“
