Giving the Smashing Pepperonis, 14" pie, a solid 4.5 stars.As a previous resident of Chicago, I can say that this is a great deep dish option for West Michigan. The crust is unique and not necessarily the same as any of the Chicago options but it isn't bad either. All of the big players in Illinois have their own take on crust also. This is pretty good Chicago-style pizza for not being located in Chicago! I lived in Chicago for several years and know (and miss) the pizza pretty well and Loretta's does a great job standing with the others. However, some things were just obvious that it wasn't a truly Chicago pizza, specifically the build of the pizza relating to the lack of sauce on the top and the overall depth of the pizza. This may be the best pizza I’ve ever had...seriously. A little patience was totally worth the wait. We ordered the Taylor Street Deep Dish and the Rush Street tavern. I’m not sure what one I liked better. My husband isn’t a fan of pineapple on pizza, but he couldn’t deny how good the Rush Street tasted.
