“I recently tried this place on a whim at the mall while running errands. It was delicious, I tried the steak and shrimp meal that came with fried rice and a vegetable mixture. It was reasonably priced and the yumyum sauce was great! I would definitely recommend this spot.“
“I was looking for an Asian restaurant in this area, and came upon Umi Sushi on Google maps. When I drove up to the building, it looked out of date... But don't judge a book by its cover! This place was lovely on the inside. Very open, and had rather zen decor and atmosphere. We also enjoyed the TVs displaying food items from their menu (what a great idea to get customers hungry, haha! It worked)Our waitress, Zippora, was wonderful!! She was very personable yet professional, and asked us at least twice while eating the meal, once during dessert how everything was. Granted, on a Sunday afternoon it wasn't too busy, but she had plenty of things to do and still did an excellent job attending to us.I mentioned before ordering that I had a gluten intolerance, and right away Zippora said she would be certain whatever I ordered would be made gluten free. She brought me GF soy sauce without me even asking! I haven't received such understanding from a waitress concerning allergies like this very often!(10/10 recommend the Bumblebee roll and the mango ice cream mochi. )Overall a fantastic experience, I look forward to a return trip!“

“Good options for veggie rolls that are delicious and not as expensive as other places around town. The space is very unassuming in the basement of McCay tower, but it's decorated nicely and the man who runs the place is friendly. Mark your selections on the piece of paper, get rung up, and food will be brought out to you. I love the aac, the sweet potato tempura, the house salad, and the hot green tea. Not sure if the kimchi rolls have fish sauce.“

She noticed I tried to make my daughter's chops sticks easier to use and brought me a piece of plastic that made the chopsticks kid friendly.Kid-friendliness: My daughter is well behaved and did very well it is a small restaurant so best to be respectful of others. The moment I took a bite from my salmon nigiri, the tenderness from the salmon was enhancing every delicious bite! I mean it just melted in my mouth! THEN! I had the salmon avocado roll. Simple yet so scrumptious! The rice was as fresh as Mr.Clean! The salmon was inticing with every bite of avocado, it’s like my mouth was just having a ton of food gasms because the quality was that amazing! “Over good experience. This is my personal opinion. Not bashing this establishment. We ordered 4 rolls, and they were good and tastie, but a lot going on within the rolls with all the flavors they were trying to incorporate into one roll. Little over powering flavor combating each other. Their Carb Rangoon Dip is absolutely amazing and a must order for an appetizer. Onlrly problem no pop/soda from Coke Cola or Pepsi Products, a little weird. Those are the reasons I gave the food a 4 star. Our server was amazing and spot on with our questions and kept my water filled. The atmosphere was nice and clean. im sure during warmer months, the outside sitting is relaxing.“

“Great hidden gem. Small location but big flavor! 3 of us went on a Saturday at 5pm and no wait. We ordered a miso soup, gyoza, Godzilla roll, volcano roll, tuna and avocado roll and tonkatsu ramen. Didn't wait long to receive our food. We all agreed it's one of the best sushi places in the area. Def give it a try. The portions were pretty big and worth the price. “Delicious lunch and good timing on the service.We saw the other great reviews on yelp, and decided to skip panera (next door) and try Jaku.we ordered the crunch, munch burrito and the burrito with bacon, tuna and mango in it. The gyoza especially delicious… Crispy the outside, and a delicious filling with the sweet eel sauce on the side. we also shared edamame and had a spicy California roll and the almond joy roll.We did not have to wait very long for the food even though every table in the restaurant was filled. “We are visiting for a few weeks and have eaten here twice already. The owners are super friendly and their staff are as well. The first time I can I got the TTEOKBOKKI (spicy rice cakes) and the next time I got the sushi crunch burrito.. both were very good and not the spot. Their hot green tea is also very good here. My daughter always gets the same thing (basically a veggie roll with cream cheese) and she said it's really fresh and her favorite anywhere we've been before. They also play music from popular K-dramas which truly makes dining here a delightful experience for us as we try to guess which shows we've heard the songs on. Our visit to Michigan has been impacted so positively by eating here, no doubt we will continue to visit while we are in town.“
“Maru is my favorite spot to get sushi here in GR! It is always a treat to dine in or order out. If I'm really hungry I normally order 2 rolls (it's never an issue to have some leftovers for myself..). On a regular day with friends some starters and 1 roll will usually suffice for me! My favorite starters are the fire cracker shrimp and the spicy fried tofu. Also they have great deals throughout the week that I need to capitalize on more often - such as the "Tiger Tuesdays" with $12 Crouching Tiger rolls!!“

“I have been going to Rockwell Republic for a long while. I had a horrible experience while waiting for friends. The waiter was do rude to me. Told me as a grown adult I could not go up to the bar. Proceed to speak to in a disrespectful manner. I ended call my friend and having them meet me somewhere else. “I am just passing through the area with my PSD and not only were the staff and owner very welcoming to my friends and I but her as well. A great time was had by all for sure and schatze got spoiled with some extra pieces of steak for dinner. The food was great, the entertaining and interacting way the food is prepared was very enjoyable, he included everyone, adult and child alike in the cooking process. My anxiety was really high when we arrived and within minutes of sitting down the atmosphere was calming enough to where I was able to relax, I left in a different mood then when I went in..I was relaxed, with a smile and FULL, they give you so much food! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Kid-friendliness: The chef which was the owner interacted very much with the what looked like a 5 year old boy across the table, the child had a blast as did everyone.
