The chicken mole is cooked to perfection, the tortillas are homemade and flavorful, not bland like a lot of places, and I will definitely be going back again to try more of their food! “Found my new favorite spot! I dined in and had the queso birria tacos, a sope, and a gordita everything was incredibly flavorful and fresh. There was a bit of a wait since they were busy, but one bite and I totally understood why. The service was excellent! My server was so attentive and friendly. I also ordered a steak torta to go, and even though there was a small mix up with the order, they handled it like pros, remaking the steak torta and letting me keep both! Honestly, the prices and quality here blow the neighboring spots out of the water. High quality, great value, and even better people. I will definitely be back. Make sure you take the time to try this spot. You will not be disappointed!“

“The food is pretty good it’s authentic and it’s very cheap so it’s not bad. This restaurant wants you to seat yourself and wait for a server and then once you’re done you go to the front and pay for your meal. I don’t really mind it but for some they might. I wish the menu had a better description of the ingredients in the menu items for example it only said tamale but there are many different types of meats and salsa to put into a tamale. I’d go again though because it was pretty good for a group of me and my friends.“

“This is a place you definitely need to try out. The food was great. Their salsa exceptional, but we could have used two bowls of it with 6 people. Only the first chips and one salsa are free. Beans and rice good. The various dishes our group got were all very good. Their margarita needed more lime, but was brought over when asked. Servers were friendly and accommodating. “I have tried a few different items and everything was absolutely delicious and no big wait time. The only complaint I have is the days they close early. I love they are open later on the weekend but would love for them to be open until 10pm the rest of the week or maybe even 11. I never seen a place with such odd hours

“I’ve been there two times now and have loved the food both times! Clean atmosphere with friendly staff. But if you want the absolute best of both… ask for Gabby! Had her my first visit and she definitely made my visit better! Very attentive, and very friendly. She did not have my table my second visit but she remembered us from last time and came over to the table to say hello. “Food is good with large portions. Drinks are well made and not weak like many places. 2 margaritas had me feeling better than 3 at some of the other Mexican restaurants in the area. Atmosphere is nice. The dinning area is split up into smaller rooms. Which makes you feel like you're having a private dinner even when the place is busy.“

“I was honestly devastated when Taqueria San Jose closed in Grand Rapids. I have spent the past several years looking for a place that could maybe be as good with no luck. A lot of good places, but none that had what TSJ had. Their nopales tacos are truly the best I have ever had, it’s my favorite style of supreme tacos, the guacamole is perfect, and the people running the restaurant are so kind! I went back for the first day they reopened on Division and it’s everything I remembered, which is tough when you’re up against nostalgia. Best Taco place in Grand Rapids hands down. Wildly excited they are back and ready to resume taking everyone I know here!“
