“Big shout out and Thank you to the great staff at White Rhino. The manager /bartender, waitress, and chef, showed out and made things happen, on one of the worse summer storms ever. All around every where was flooded. And instead of closing up and going home. The staff was very accommodating, from the moment me and my family walked in the door. Food was great, Atmosphere was fun. And staff was awesome.“

The employees were great; very helpful, funny and nice. The service was good with the exception that our food didn't come out together. My girl loved her burger and fries. I enjoyed my ceaser with salmon. However to add salmon was $15; that was a bit steep. The wings were okay; the sauce wasn't my favorite. The wonton appetizer was yummy! Our drinks were good too. I definitely will return. Love to see a classy sports bar in the city!“

“This place is the best! I come here on weekends and they have the highest selection of ranches in the area! I will sit at the bar here for hours on end, throwing back their famous "Ranch Shots". When my thorat starts to burn from the ranch, they do have glasses of peptobesmol they offer for a small fee of $2.99. After Ranching it for hours it is really awesome they offer this!!!!

Watch out for the mandatory tip on "big gatherings" not quite sure what constitutes a big gathering and I know it's common practice in a lot of places these days but it would be nice if they inform you in advance before you double tip like I did! nor do I know how many in a party to be considered a big gathering. bottom line if you're going to do that to patrons I think you should inform them in advance. times aren't just hard for wait staff, they're also hard for your patrons.“

The owner did reach out to me to apologize and offer cleaning/replacements for my clothing. They also spoke with the staff to make a training and learning lesson for them which I appreciate. I’m changing my rating of the experience based on Owen’s response, as most owners do not attempt to rectify a bad situation.

I have never had an experience as bad as the one I just had at Firebird Tavern. Needless to say I will never return or recommend this place to anyone. The visit started well and our server was very pleasant and attentive. Halfway through our visit, a full tray of drinks and shots was spilled on me to the point that a mop was needed and a wet floor signed was placed behind me. Not only that, but my white shirt is stained and not reparable. I was soaked. The server eventually did apologize to me and told me that she was personally comping ONE of my drinks. First of all, I would NEVER expect the server to comp any drinks. Second of all, I was never approached by the manager to access the damage or talk about comps, WHICH I would assume from the establishment itself. When we were brought our bill, I asked the server, ‘what is the establishment taking care of for my damages’. The manager eventually came to talk to me and did not seem aware of the situation, even after many servers explained what happened and I showed him my clothing that was still wet and stained. He simply replied that the server was comping one drink and he would see what he could do. The server came back with the same bill, no initiative from the bar or manager and I paid for the bill as it was. How is this acceptable from a bar that my table paid several rounds of drinks and food for the night? I have never experienced this lack of care in my life and cannot express my disappointment and frustration with the management and overall experience of Firebird. What an embarrassment to our city. As a resident of the downtown area, I would never expect such a terrible experience.“

“Great environment for a game or if you're a sports fan. Staff is usually pretty personable but can be very overwhelmed. Especially on a game day. It just seems it may be time for hiring. Maybe time to expand operations.

The burger was delicious. And the jalapeño poppers taste fresh. My advice would be hire some wait staff. At least part time for game days“

“I absolutely love this place. I always make it there on a Friday night, for obvious reasons, LOL! The bartenders are a joy to be around, and really bring the atmosphere together. The beers are cheap, and the food is decent for bar food (I normally get the buffalo wrap or the steak bites). Mostly an older crowd, but everyone is there to have a good time and that’s what I always have! Can’t go wrong with a bucket of beer.“

After I gathered the family up we made our adventure to Wide Tom’s and was not disappointed.
They have everything bean you can think of. From simple bean dip to Sweet California Aphrodisiac Mong Beans.

Tom was so friendly unlike my wife’s friend Anita Hanjaab. He gave us alll bean shots and really showed us the art of relaxing pharyngeal muscles. My wife was able to do a triple shot second time.

The kids raved about the bean slide back downstairs and after 30min of them making laps I made them leave.

What a great find and hidden gem that is a definite return

Vegetarian options: Beans are a vegetable…. Just eat them as Tom would say

My mother told me that she vividly remembers looking out the window and seeing the National guard going down Jefferson into Detroit. At that time, she was 9 years old. My mother grew up to work in the bar. Her name is Roseann or Rosie. I spent lots of my youth there, playing quarter machines. Rosie Also worked Square Deal. “Great Atmosphere to watch a game or have lunch paired with a cocktail.

I’ve visited 4x since opening and every time the food has been tasty (Ahi Nachos, Waygu Sliders & Fries-nice & crispy!)

My one complaint is that not one employee has mentioned that an automatic gratuity is added (20%) to every check even if dining for one.
I don’t have an issue with it being added but, this not being verbally communicated is wrong.
I’m aware after the fourth visit that it is printed in the smallest font at the bottom of the menu. It’s almost as if it’s being “hidden”.

Look at the menu and form your own opinions.

I lived in Downtown Detroit from 2005-2020 and have seen the challenges of finding staff and them being tipped (not tipped) by patrons. This is why I’m okay with the automated tip but, it needs to mentioned up front or when presenting the check plus, in bigger font on the menu!

I hope some changes are made otherwise I will choose to go elsewhere on my next visit to Detroit.

I can only imagine how many people have tipped 20-25% on top of the automated 20%.

“Just got a nice craft beer before the start of a tiger game. Friendly bar tender and fast service. Nice sized craft and standard beer menu. Low top, booth and bar seating. I liked the environment that made it feel like you were at a pub and not inside a baseball park. Pricey but I would return.“
