“I was pleasantly surprised by this place! Typically, I think twice about coming to Sushi places in strip malls, but the ratings drew me in, and I was not disappointed! Tommy called me and we had an in depth discussion of everyone's budgets, likes, dislikes, etc. He was incredibly responsive and a pleasure to work with and helped curate a fully customized menu. The chefs arrived early and were extremely accommodating to everyone's preferences-- and the sushi was so delicious! They created a very interactive program where they even taught us how to make a roll! Our experience with Kabar was unique and memorable. I could not recommend them more!“

“I came in at what seemed to be a slower time. I was taken care of right away. Our server was great. I ordered Agedashi Tofu, and the house salad. My daughter ordered Chicken Teriyaki, we both got miso soup- which was not included in her meal which I thought was weird. Everywhere else I go it comes with. The soup was pretty bland, and was $6 each. Daughter liked her chicken teriyaki. I enjoyed my tofu. The salad was good, but I’ve never paid $8 for a little side salad before. All in all we had a pleasurable experience and liked the food. But I will likely not be back, I have many other spots that are more affordable.“

“I came to Umai Café in Troy for my birthday because I really wanted to try their soufflé pancakes — and they did not disappoint! They were light, fluffy, and absolutely delicious. We also tried the sando, which was just as good — flavorful and satisfying.

The café itself has such a cozy, welcoming vibe, and the staff were very kind. The only small hiccup was that the posted hours said they open at 11:30, but they didn’t open until 12:00, so keep that in mind if you’re planning an early visit.

Overall, it was a wonderful birthday treat, and I’ll definitely be back to try more from their menu!“

Wait and even better the lunch specials run on Saturdays!?! Recommendation: Please call & visit their website for the specific times and days the lunch specials are offered because the menu could be changed. The Sushi was so tasty, that I had it for dinner! On the second occasion, I went inside and the staff was friendly. Cannot wait to dine in next time because the atmosphere was inviting. Recommendation: Deep Fried Spicy California Roll and California Roll, both were equally delicious! If you want a bomb of flavor on your tongue, make sure to dab a little wasabi and ginger slice too.
