“We adored this place so much that we went twice on the same trip! This one-room school house turned winery played up the school theme in a lot of fun ways from the names of their wines to the decor and the outdoor “recess” patio space complete with shaded and unshaded tables, picnic tables, chalk for kids and a few yard games. We ordered a few four-wine flights and LOVED everything we drank. We bought multiple bottles between our group and spent a couple hours here while being there with 2 toddlers and a baby. This place is dog friendly and there is a ramp to get in and out with a wheelchair or stroller. The staff was very friendly and helpful too!
My only suggestion would be to offer reservations or pre-paid flights or drinks if possible to make it easier for groups like ours to plan and not stress about having a space to enjoy our time here. They do have an option for large parties to make reservations on their website. The lack of reservations had me skipping this place when in Traverse a few years ago but I’m so glad we tried it this time and I plan to return!“
“Beautiful winery, amazing service, and a beautiful view!“
“I visited several vineyards on this peninsula and liked Hawthorne the best. It wasn't as crowded as the other vineyards (not sure if that's normally the case or if I just got lucky), the staff was very nice, and I loved the wine and the atmosphere.“
“My boyfriend and I did the barrel room experience and absolutely loved it. You get to try 6 different wines and enjoy a delicious charcuterie board for 35 per person. Our guide was very knowledgeable and attentive. I was impressed by the value of our dollar. The stone walls and relatively small square footage created the perfect cozy and intimate venue for a romantic night out. I will definitely be doing this again.“
“This was a fun and unique winery to visit! We learned quite a bit about the wines served there - all of the grapes come from independent growers in the area, and then staff at the winery make the wine in-house. There was a nice mix of both wine and ciders, and you could get both in your flight. Staff were sp friendly and knowledgeable, and it made the experience that much better!“
“On a very busy Saturday afternoon in August the staff was efficient and gracious. Beautiful view from the bar. 2 of us tried 6 wines (2 flights) and the bartender added another for us to try that turned out to be our favorite - bought 2 bottles of that one. His recommendations were helpful.“
“Beautiful views!! Great wine!! Their Cab-Franc was one of my favorites!“
“5 Stars is not enough! This was truly a Grand Experience! From the incredible views of the vineyard to drinking wine on beautiful patio, this is a must do excursion that I highly recommend to all.
My knowledge of wine making, types of grapes, and the how and why of how each flavor is born gives me a whole new appreciation of enjoying each bottle.
My tour was personally given by Gabe Marzonie. After the tour we continued my education with a tasting of the best and most flavorful wine on the beautiful patio! The staff from start to finish were so gracious and inviting that I instantly felt welcome and cared for.
Please do not pass up this elevated experience!“
“I participated in Vino-Madness along the Leelanau Wine Trail and had a really good time! For $25.00 a person, we sampled wine and food pairings at 8 of the maybe 15 or so wineries along the trail over the course of 2 days. It was a really neat event, and a fun way to experience the wineries for a reasonable price. Each of the wineries was very welcoming and we walked away with several bottles of wine that we probably would not have normally tried and saw some beautiful wineries. I would love to come back again for another event and highly recommended it to any wine lover!“
“Good wine Great people watching!
There was alot of wine tours stopping here I counted 4 Bachelorette parties at the same time so would suggest any day other than Saturday. The picnic tables need to be replaced as we saw them flipping over on people“
“Had a wine flight and also a couple of spirits. I really enjoyed the wines (mostly Riesling). The apple maple brandy warmed my soul; the honey brandy had a hint of sweetness then burned the rest of the way down.
Overall we had a great time. Excellent service. Would come back for their wines.“
“Loved our experience at Bowers Vineyard! They have a fantastic patio (dog friendly too) and a great variety of wine tasting flights to choose from! Thai is the perfect place to relax on a warm summer day with friends! Very warm and welcoming staff!“

“What a wonderful experience. Truly! They just hired Chef Seth and WOW. Their menu is nothing short of incredible. You are in for a treat. The wine in conjunction with the food is an experience that shouldn’t be passed up. Check this place out. You will not be disappointed.“
