“I used to go here as a 8-10 y/o, I'm 42 now. My dad worked at the Marathon on the corner. I was friends with the owners son (I believe it has changed hands since I was a kid). The food was really good I have nothing but fond memories of this place.“

“First time trying Ah-Ha and was very pleasantly surprised. The crab & shrimp boil was delicious but the cajun seasoning could have been spicier. I was thrilled to find marinated pork belly as the pork in my noodles (pork and vegetable option). This was a "need a towel, not a napkin" kind of meal - messy and great! We will definitely be back.“

“I did not realize this was an upscale Chinese restaurant. The prices were definitely on the higher side while dish portions were more on the smaller side.
As for taste,
- the braised beef was disappointing. Carrots were not cooked all the way and the beef was very hard to chew.
- Hot and sour soup tasted very clean. It was not as sour as I like, but still good.
- Mapa tofu was well flavored with each tofu bite. This dish more of those numbing peppers than the average Mapa tofu. So drinking water after tasted weird.
- The almond bread was my favorite with a sweet nutty crunchy center.
Atmosphere is more upscale Chinese. This was probably the first place I’ve ate at that had two chopstick sets for each person. Hot tea was also a nice touch.
Overall, it’s a nice place to bring family members who don’t like typical oily Chinese food. Definitely pricier, but you know the food and restaurant is clean.“

“I like many of you, like using the review score when making purchase decisions. I never just look at the score. I look for the number of reviews and I try to find helpful reviews to give me more incite into what I may be getting into. My wife works in a business where the reviews really matter for bringing in new customers. She often talks about the long-time customers who keep returning but have never left a review. Those are really the voices that should matter more to people who want an honest review of the company they are looking into. Unfortunately, even though I like looking at reviews, I seldom leave one unless I'm very satisfied with the company or really disappointed. In both cases, I leave my emotions aside and tell things as I experience them. This means that if everything wasn't perfect, I don't ding them for minor stuff. I give people the benefit of the doubt because we all have those days when we aren't at our best. When I read bad reviews about restaurants that I frequent often, I wonder about the person leaving the review. I feel that they are either competitors with malicious intent, someone who didn't try to listen to resolve whatever issues they perceived to be happening, or simply someone who's looking for a reason and is too hard to please in the first place. So with all that out of the way, let me get to the Lim's Star review. I love Chinese food and it's one of the first things I looked for locally when I bought my house 10 years ago. There are several in what I would consider my drivable area. Lim's Star is in my top 5 or higher depending on what dish I'm looking for. 10 years means I've been coming there since before the current owner. Do I miss the dinner rolls? Not really, since I get better quality food and personalization of meals on request. The new owner knows us on sight and remembers what we like to order. He even allows us to modify the ingredients to our liking. He is very friendly and will engage in small talk to get to know his customers better. We eat at or buy takeout from Lim's Star at least once a month, sometimes more. Has everything always been perfect? No, but I really can't recall the last time I was dissatisfied with my order or service. Based on my long review, I'm hoping you can tell I have had many enjoyable meals from and experiences with Lim's Star. Seriously! If you are on the fence or willing to try something new in your area, start with a dish you know to compare. I doubt you will be disappointed in your comparison. Mark J.“

“Let me start by saying the food and service here are excellent. If I could've given them 4.5 stars, I would have. The reason for not giving a full 5 stars comes down to personal preference. Their handmade egg rolls are great, but I personally prefer mine with bean sprouts instead of cabbage. I also had the almond boneless chicken, and while it was good, it wasn’t quite what I’m used to. The dish included carrots, mushrooms, and snap peas, with not enough gravy for my taste. I usually enjoy it over a bed of shredded lettuce, drenched in gravy, topped with thinly sliced almonds and scallions. It was still good, just not what I'm used to. I will say that their beef fried rice was outstanding – the beef was very tender, and they were generous with the portion. Overall, it's a solid American Chinese restaurant that I would definitely recommend.“

“We had a power outage in the area, and this was the only Chinese open in Waterford. We came 30 minutes before closing, and the owners were very nice and went above and beyond for us. Being vegan, they made accommodations for me.
I ordered the veggie lo mein, and the portion size was huge. The flavor was pleasant but could have used a little more garlic and spices. There were no dinner combination options that came with fried rice and egg roll or soup. I ate my fill, and had enough to last me for a late night snack and lunch the next day.
My partner ordered either Sesame or General Tsau Chicken, and it came with white rice. He said the flavor was good and portion Very Generous. We both ordered veggie egg rolls a la carte and pop. The spring/ egg rolls were a bit too sweet, and the plum sauce was pale yellow instead of classic orange. I would not get those again.
My boyfriend devoured the chicken dish and still had leftovers!!!
The owners let us sit there and eat from the carry out containers, and told us to take our time. It was very nice and friendly.
I later noticed that they had Tofu stir fries available which I overlooked. I think I would have been better off with one of those.
Our total was over $30, like 34-37-- including the drinks. Usually we pay $20-36 dollars and we order combination plates.
I would possibly order from them again but would specify preference for more garlic and spices for my vegan options.
The fact that the owners were so nice and accommodating, letting us sit there and eat after closing, and having to cook my complicated Veg option after a long day tells me that they take pride in their restaurant, and would go above and beyond to accommodate any future modifications“

“Blizzard and they still delivered promptly (actually a few minutes early)! Door Dash was having problems so we ordered directly from the restaurant which was much cheaper than delivery apps. Food was hot, fresh and delicious! Also, with an order of $25 we got a free crab ragoon order. And it wasn't just a small sample but a full order! We will definitely order from them again!“

“I recently tried the Korean BBQ and Chinese hot pot buffet at Golden Harbor, and it was an average experience. The selection was decent but nothing extraordinary. The meats for the BBQ were fine, The hot pot ingredients were adequate. We went for dinner on Thursday and the whole restaurant was empty. It’s a big restaurant. Overall, Golden Harbor offers a satisfactory meal, but it doesn't stand out among other similar buffets in the area.“

“We love Jiang-nan Noodles! We especially enjoy the small wonton noodles, seafood ramen, and celery with dried tofu at Jiangnan Noodle House. Particularly, the meat in their wontons is of high quality, not the low-grade kind, and the wonton wrappers are very thin. Their handmade ramen noodles are also wonderfully chewy. We found out that they use the most expensive flour, which explains the unique texture of their noodles. We also like their wide noodles!
I think Jiangnan Noodle House is the best noodle restaurant in Michigan! Lately, business has been very good, and sometimes there’s a long line, but good food is worth the wait. I Highly recommended this restaurant!!:)“

“Our server, Steve, was excellent! I managed to accidentally eat some very spicy peppers, and was really burning & trying to find a way to put out the fire! He kept coming back to check on me, and suggest ways to help. He even offered to bring me things, on the house, he was told would help.“

“Legitimately the best American Chinese food I have ever had! It's just takeout so the "atmosphere" is nothing to write home about, but the service is great and the food is absolutely amazing. The chicken is always deliciously crispy, vegetables are clean and fresh, and the rice (as simple as it is) is the perfect complement to the spices and sauces that they use. I've only been here four times so far, but I'm definitely making this my go-to.“

“Elevated Chinese cusine, with fresh ingredients and beautiful presentation. A very elaborate menu, and a little higher on the price side, but then again, you are paying for the whole experience here, and it will be amazing. The food was exquisite, not extremely authentic, but for the location, it was excellent, as Farmington Hills is not so populated with Chinese folk, and I did see many patrons, so it said a lot just walking into the dining room.
We had a large party, and it took a while for us to get our drinks, our soup was already at the table, and no drinks served yet.
Love the ambiance here, glamorous and refined.“

“Easily the best chinese in Livonia area, food was excellent everything was hot and fresh. The food was excellent!!! The service was impeccable. The atmosphere was suitable for dining!!! We loved it.
The only small thing that I would like to see is if they do offer senior discounts. If/When they add or offer senior discounts, then it's a big bonus. Overall, I'm very satisfied.“

“The sweet and sour chicken is not what it used to be. The sauce was vinegary. There were no green peppers or pineapple. The plum sauce for the egg roll was the same.“

“I ordered the General Taos Lunch special and it came with an egg roll. I added shrimp Ragoon to the order. They serve very large portions, enough for two people. The chicken chunks were HUGE! Flavored with a traditional general Taos sauce with broccoli. The stir fried rice was ok. I really loved the fact that everything was served piping hot. I live 20 minutes away and it was still very hot when I got it home. The ragoon was a little sweeter than I am used to. But the egg roll was real cabbage which is another win for me. Pleased with my order and the service was great. I will come again. Thank you.“

“I’m not a huge fan of Chinese food...it is either blah or just ok to me. There’s never been a restaurant that made me think it was great, mostly because I prefer other ethnic food much more. That being said, even with my bias, this place is really good! The portions are HUGE and at a fair price, and the egg rolls are perfectly crisp on the outside and flavorful and moist on the inside. What makes it 5 stars? The staff has a sense of urgency...everyone is bustling around in there, but they are really friendly and you genuinely feel that they are happy their restaurant is so full and busy. I got the sense that they really wanted to please people. Even on a Friday night when it was very busy, we barely waited 10 minutes to get seated. Our food came out very fast and our waitress was super nice. It was also noticeably very clean in there. Nice updated decor and fresh clean tables and booths.“

“First time here and it was very good. Being a native metro Detroiter I recall the days of fabulous almond boneless chicken (ABC) from one particular restaurant. 30+ years later, I’m still searching for that taste. This place is pretty darn close. The lunch combo portion was huge, more than enough for two very generous servings. In fact when I picked up the order the bag was so heavy I checked inside to be sure I had gotten the right order. The chicken was tender and breading crisp despite my not eating it for 45 minutes after picking it up. The gravy is the a bit salty neon yellow I recall. The fried rice with a few bean sprouts mixed in was equally good. I did not care for the eggroll, but its importance was marginal. The place is primarily carryout, although they have a few tables where you can sit and enjoy your food. My order was ready promptly. So if you’re one of those metro Detroiters looking to satisfy“

“One of the best chinese food places on the area. The food is always hot and freshly made when I pick it up, and it doesn't take very long either. I had a General Tso's the other day. The chicken was nice and crispy even after driving home with it. Highly recommend checking this place out if you can!“

“This is our favorite when we want carryout Chinese food!
The food is well prepared. Good portion sizes. Quick and efficient service—they text you when your order is ready, which is convenient!
We’ve ordered a few different foods from this restaurant and we’ve enjoyed all of them. My favorite is the Pineapple Chicken.
It’s not luxury dining, but it’s a great option when you don’t want to cook and would just like a quick and easy, good meal. We spent about $30 for an entree, a combo meal, and a shrimp roll. There was more than enough food for my family of four.“

“They have great service with gentlemen that take orders. The egg rolls are the best. Most places egg rolls taste same as spring rolls, there is a difference between theirs and others. Food is hot always. Tried a chicken dish but ìt was a bit chewy and not the normal quality. However, I prefer them overall agaibdt 4 other place on a different side if town.“

“I was really impressed by the food here. The place looks like a hole in the wall so you know it's going to be fire. They have an extensive menu. I got multiple items and everything exceeded my expectations.
They don't need a fancy restaurant, decorations, lights, or gimmicks to win you over because the food speaks for itself. This is going to be my new go to spot whenever I'm craving Chinese.“

“Absolutely best and highest quality Chinese food that I know of. This isn’t your typical “Chinese Restaraunt”. You’ll find no buffet or anything of that sort here. Impeccable interior, with the added plus of the Jia Bar Connected and owned by the same owners. Stop and have a craft cocktail at Jia then 10 steps into the China Cafe through the door and be prepared for a fantastic experience! Owners are absolute gems as well.“

“China garden is my go to place when I'm craving Chinese at a reasonable price. I've been going here for over 10 years and so far its the best Chinese food you can get. The egg roles are my wife and i's favorite. We have tried just about every Chinese place in the surrounding area and so far nothing compares to China garden. We love the place so much that I actually have China gardens number saved in my favorites on my phone! My go to is the sweet and sour chicken with special house fried rice and 2 extra egg roles!!!“

“Fascinating place to eat.
Scallion pan cakes are awesome
Stir Fried rice with Tofu fried in soy sauce is out of the world.
Garlic chicken and pineapple shrimp is superfantabulous
There are other many Chinese dishes which I cannot recollect. The taste of those dishes are different. May not suite my Indian pallete.
With the habit of frequently eating out I can say with immense confidence...

“I called a couple of weeks in advance, reserved a table, and ordered the foods for 12 people. Chef Jeff discussed each dish with me on the phone. I like the fact that Jeff shopped for the fresh ingredients after he received the orders. When I and my guests arrived at the restaurant at 6:30 PM tonight, the foods were served exactly as planned, one course after another. We had, in the following order, the smoked fish, marinated gluten, steamed pork dumplings (xiao long bao), pan fried buns, egg rolls, stir-fried shrimps, fish filet soup, braised pork shoulder, spare ribs with sweet and sour sauce, rice with salted pork belly and green veggie, stir-fried pork liver, steamed baby cabbage with ham, and finally the sweet wine soup with rice balls as dessert. Everything was exquisitely prepared and super-delicious. The xiao long bao are better than those in most Ding Tai Feng stores in the world. I have had Shanghainese dishes served in New York, Toronto, LA, San Francisco, Taipei and Shanghai. Jeff’s interpretation of Shanghainese food is definitely one of the best I have ever experienced! After dinner, I and my friends continued to sit at the table and chatted for an hour. Jeff and his wife stopped by occasionally to replenish our tea pots and to make friendly small talks, but never tried to rush us to vacate our table. It was an absolutely enjoyable dinner experience!“
