I look for the number of reviews and I try to find helpful reviews to give me more incite into what I may be getting into. My wife works in a business where the reviews really matter for bringing in new customers. She often talks about the long-time customers who keep returning but have never left a review. Those are really the voices that should matter more to people who want an honest review of the company they are looking into. Unfortunately, even though I like looking at reviews, I seldom leave one unless I'm very satisfied with the company or really disappointed. In both cases, I leave my emotions aside and tell things as I experience them. This means that if everything wasn't perfect, I don't ding them for minor stuff. I give people the benefit of the doubt because we all have those days when we aren't at our best. When I read bad reviews about restaurants that I frequent often, I wonder about the person leaving the review. I feel that they are either competitors with malicious intent, someone who didn't try to listen to resolve whatever issues they perceived to be happening, or simply someone who's looking for a reason and is too hard to please in the first place. So with all that out of the way, let me get to the Lim's Star review. I love Chinese food and it's one of the first things I looked for locally when I bought my house 10 years ago. There are several in what I would consider my drivable area. Lim's Star is in my top 5 or higher depending on what dish I'm looking for. 10 years means I've been coming there since before the current owner. Do I miss the dinner rolls? Not really, since I get better quality food and personalization of meals on request. The new owner knows us on sight and remembers what we like to order. He even allows us to modify the ingredients to our liking. He is very friendly and will engage in small talk to get to know his customers better. We eat at or buy takeout from Lim's Star at least once a month, sometimes more. Has everything always been perfect? No, but I really can't recall the last time I was dissatisfied with my order or service. Based on my long review, I'm hoping you can tell I have had many enjoyable meals from and experiences with Lim's Star. Seriously! If you are on the fence or willing to try something new in your area, start with a dish you know to compare. I doubt you will be disappointed in your comparison. Mark J.“

“First time trying Ah-Ha and was very pleasantly surprised. The crab & shrimp boil was delicious but the cajun seasoning could have been spicier. I was thrilled to find marinated pork belly as the pork in my noodles (pork and vegetable option). This was a "need a towel, not a napkin" kind of meal - messy and great! Impeccable interior, with the added plus of the Jia Bar Connected and owned by the same owners. Stop and have a craft cocktail at Jia then 10 steps into the China Cafe through the door and be prepared for a fantastic experience! Owners are absolute gems as well.“

“Family owned business with a simple and straightforward menu. The food was decent, but the value is what pushed it to a 5. They packed the dishes with eggplant and tofu, and for $50 this is enough for 6-8 meals (and I am big person). The only thing I didn’t like was the egg/veg roll.

“My go to “takeout” chinese restaurant in the area; great staff, generous portions, fresh food with great flavors🫶🏿I try different things on their menu and never disappointed. Their brown gravy is SO GOOD lol; I cook and bake and would do anything to know how they flavor their brown gravy for their Almond Chicken😅I always order a couple extra brown gravies just to keep in the fridge for other food I eat🙏🫶🏿I’d say try anything on the menu that sounds appetizing to you💯😁“

“I love that you can choose exactly what you want in your mala tang. There’s a great variety of fresh vegetables and different types of noodles.

The clear Chinese glass noodles are my absolute favorite. They’re chewy and have such a fun texture. The only downside is that they’re so slippery that they’re really hard to pick up with chopsticks. But honestly, I can’t give them up! They also have a good selection of fish balls, and I always add Chinese sausage because it makes the mala tang flavor even richer. The thinly sliced beef is almost like shabu-shabu style—super thin and perfect for the soup.

I also spotted something very unusual at the counter. Actually, “unusual” might be an understatement—it was a little shocking: fried chicken bones. Are you actually supposed to eat the bones? 😳 The whole idea of eating chicken bones is just not for me, and honestly, it didn’t look very appetizing either.

I got the General Tso Chicken and it was good but had literally zero percent spiciness. I suspect I was supposed to ask for some level of spice when I ordered so maybe that was my fault“

We were amazed the shrimonerre not the little bay shrimp we have often seen used in fried rice, but rather, legit prawns. The almond chicken was a generous portion with a crispy coating and tender inside. The sauce on the tofu was tasty.

“Great service even though my order was towards the end of the nights closing time. I called in a dine-out order and when I arrived party of my order was dropped fresh so it would be hot. No find in capability. I appreciated the extra touch of the space heater at your feet at the counter as it's cold season. Free Oriental style hush puppies were a surprise and tasted good. Egg rolls were fine more cabbage than bean sprouts and tasted good. Our shrimp fried rice was fresh and full of decent sized clean shrimp. The general sao chicken was decent it contained all cuts of chicken white and dark meat, I'm accustomed to all chicken breast so it was different but the sauce great. “Some gave a rating of 3.3, impossibly incorrect. I decided to try anyway. The place was clean, customers were in chairs, so crowed that I couldn’t find a parking space. I ordered my carry out food, beautiful presentation, NOT SALTY, clean taste, Not greasy, cannot be MSG, because I would have gotten sick. So I will highly recommend this restaurant!
