“1st - the atmosphere and decor are spot on. It 100% reminds me of getting BBQ back home.
When it comes to the food - it was good but not what I describe as Texas bbq. The sides are not your traditional Texas bbq fare - so I chose what seemed to be ranch potato salad and a cold corn salad of some sort. The potato salad was good - the potatoes were soft and it was creamy, the corn was also good- it had more of a TexMex feel.
For the pulled pork - the flavor was good - the smoke flavor is natural, which I appreciate bc so many places use liquid smoke, which I don’t like. However it was dry, and the bbq sauce was thin and leaned more toward a spiced ketchup taste rather than bbq sauce.
Overall, if you’re just looking for some standard bbq, it’s a good place to stop by but it’s not going to satisfy your craving if you’re a Texas boy or girl looking for a taste of home.“

“We had Old Southern Bbq cater for our wedding and it was absolutely an amazingly positive experience! The director of catering, Amy, was so helpful and on top of everything. The catering team was absolutely wonderful! All of our guests ranted and raved about the food all night, especially the potato salad and the cornbread muffin tops. Would definitely recommend!“

“Food always hits here. The Turkey tips are my favorite, juicy turkey bits and bbq sauce on a bed of crispy fries. I’ve also tried the Turkey dogs, tacos, lasagna, turkey burger, and Turkey legs. Everything is a slam dunk!!“

“I did order take out and my food was ready at the time of pick up. I ordered several dishes for me and my family. Kalua and Katsu Combo, Hawaiian BBQ Chicken and Kalua Pork, spam musubi, Mac side salad, garlic noodles, side bbq chicken, and fried rice. I loved everything. I can taste the smokey kalua and BBQ chicken. Big or generous portions, can't wait to eat my leftovers. It's a personal preference, but it would have been better if the kalua was fattier, softer, or mushier similar to the luau in Hawaii. I love my kalua from the bottom of the pot with all the juicy and fattiness. If that's ever an option, I'd take that. Staff were very friendly and smiley. Almost made me shy lol 😆 overall, love love! I'll be back. Driving from St. Paul. Maybe open a place in Woodbury someday.“
